Daemon2027 Posted August 25, 2014 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Hi guys I am thinking of doing a Pride Of The Legion Alpha Legion force, with my troops being 2xvet squads and 1 of the Lernaean Terminators. The rest of the force will be Contemptor talon, apothacary, headhunters, and fire raptors for heavy support. Maybe a couple storm eagle to transport. The idea is that it is a spec-op type force. depthcharge12 Posted August 25, 2014 Share Posted August 25, 2014 My plan with my world eaters is to take a squad of 10 and attach my praetor to it for flanking purposes. WEs get Rage and Hatred with the RoW outside of your deployment zone, and if they sweep a unit, they get furious charge too! This is my balanced load out: 10 Vets with outflank (295 points) + 2 power swords, 2 power axes, 2 with melta guns, sgt w/AA/powerfist Attached praetor + paragon blade, refractor field, digi lasers This unit comes on a flank and rips into a backfield tank or walker with the melta guns first. "But Depth, what about armored ceramite?!1!" I hear you cry. Well, big juicy walkers like contemptors don't have it, nor do scorpi, or medusas. Since he meta has shifted away from people using melta it's time to bring it back!!! Meltas (don't forget) also ID marines at AP 1 and allows you to charge. Use them to troll your enemy's expensive command squad or HQ choice. There are three extra marines to soak up bullets for the 7 other special weapon guys, but they should be able to chew through most other units. Just don't run the squad into terminators. Matter of fact, don't run any unit into termies, they will chew u up. You will have plenty of Ap2 from the two axes, the power fist, and the praetor. The two swords are to hit at initiative so that your unwieldy weapons don't get swamped. Hope that helps! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Slips Posted August 25, 2014 Share Posted August 25, 2014 An idea I've been contemplating for my Imperial Fists was a squad of 10 with 2 heavy bolters with the Sniper rule. My plan is to take two vet squads in rhinos as follows: 10 veterans with 2 meltaguns, vox, fearless, p fist and artificer armour on sergeant. 10 veterans with 2 missile launchers, flak missiles, tank hunters, vox and vexilla. A third squad rides in a Land Raider Phobos with armored ceramite together with praetor and an apothecary: 8 veterans with 2 p axes, vexilla, furious charge, p fist and artificer armour on sergeant. I'd love to put a heavy flamer in this squad but can't find the points for it. This is for 2000 points, in higher points I exchange my praetor for Armillus Dynat and bring in a 10 man Lernean squad that deep strikes in. hairojin Posted August 26, 2014 Share Posted August 26, 2014 I'm still building and painting the army so haven't play tested it yet, but I plan to use counter attack, scout or tank hunter depending on the opponent.
