2500pt Raven Guard

Fire Golem

The idea for this army is that it's part of the Nomad Predation fleet, and I'm gonna have hints that they become the Carcharodons (grey armour, tribal markings, violent tactics, terminators). So here goes:

Praetor [175]

RoW: Decapitation Strike, Iron Halo, Chameleoline, Archaeotech Pistol, Paragon Blade

Moritat-Prime Kaedes Nex [155]

3x

Legion Tactical Squad [235]

10 men, Vexilla, additional CCW, Artificer Armour and Power Weapon on sarge, Drop Pod

[705]

Apothecarion Detatchment [135]

3 Apothecaries

Terminator Squad [405]

10 men, Tartaros armour, 2 Chainfists, Reaper Autocannon, Heavy Flamer, Grenade Harness and Ravens Talons on sarge

Mor Deythan [585]

10 men, Darkwing Stormeagle with Armoured Ceramite, Artificer Armour and Melta Bombs on sarge, 10 Sniper Rifles

Dark Fury [340]

10 men, Ravens Talons and Melta Bombs on sarge

2500points

Only think I'd doubt is the Darkwing since it has a more anti-infantry focused role than say a Storm Eagle than can kinda do AA(both types) and AInf. whereas the Darkwing has a blind bomb. Other than that, looks good. Lots of melta bombs for vehicles in an infantry heavy list, and lots of in-your-face-deal-with-it-NOW! stuff to screen your terminators advance (since they can't DS, only NL and us IF can biggrin.png )

Edit : grammar >_> and spelling....

Yeah looks good. RG low body-count  elite infiltration team.

Though did you consider Alvarex Maun? *page 279 in exterminationn* His Strato-Vox is beastly being an 18" no scatter for DS + Benefits means that if you can keep him alive, and bring him withing ~18" of your opponent, Deepstrike EVERYTHING (unless he has AUgury Scanners) that you can in his face with no fear of a mishap and the like.

He also lets you re-roll failed Drop Pod and Flyer Reserve roll. +the Bleeding Edge might make the Darkwing as a dedi Transport a better option since with Maun attached, it won't have to roll for reserves to see if it comes in.

That or let him start on the table to re-roll seize for potential alpha strike goodness. He's also a Master of the Legion so can take a RoW.

Honestly, this list and the other one are both good and are easily interchangeable depending on what you think you'll be facing : Armor heavy, bring the Fire Raptor. Troop Heavy? Bring the Darkwing. Alvarex Maun (imo) will only help make these lists perform better so I don't see why he shouldn't be included. Though beware; with AA + PW he still isn't a beatstick. He is a Preator-Master of Signal Hybrid. So, thankfully for you, there are no barrage weapons in your list but a lot of Deep Strikeability. So make sure you get everything on the board before you go HAM with him.

So...I got...Inspired.. To build an Air Force Raven Guard List. Its 2500, but the main restriction would be the $$$ for all those Fire Raptors / Storm Eagles.

RoW : Angel's Wrath

HQ:

-Strike Captain Alvarex Maun; Cameleoline, Infravisor, 150pts

Troops:

-Legion Tactical Squad (10)x2; Artificer Armor, Vexilla, Power Weapon, 195pts

-Legion Storm Eagle Assault Gunship (2x); Armored Ceramite, Searchlight, 231pts.

Elites:

-Mor Deythan Strike Squad (10); Artificer Armor, 9x Combi-Weapon (plasma), Melta Bombs, Plasma Gun, 624pts total

-Darkwing Storm Eagle; Armored Ceramite, Extra Armor, Searchlight

Fast Attack:

-Dark Fury Assault Squad (10); Melta Bombs, 10x Pair of Raven's Talons, 420pts.

Heavy Support:

-Legion Fire Raptor Gunship (2x); Armored Ceramite, Reaper Autocannon Battery, Searchlight, 231pts each, total 693pts.

Total : 2498.

This list has so many hard hitting flyers its essential a cheesey but fluffy list that almost everyone will hate to play against if they don't have adequate Anti-Air. Though this list might also fall flat on its face if reserve rolls go poorly or turn 1 goes horribly bad.

Edit; Made the list Legal and chose Angels Wrath as RoW... Now it has 5 Storm Eagle Variants in the list...I squeezed one more in...somehow.

Moritat-Prime Kaedes Nex [155]

Legion Tactical Squad [235]

10 men, Vexilla, additional CCW, Artificer Armour and Power Weapon on sarge, Drop Pod

[705]

Apothecarion Detatchment [135]

3 Apothecaries

Terminator Squad [405]

10 men, Tartaros armour, 2 Chainfists, Reaper Autocannon, Grenade Harness and Ravens Talons on sarge

Mor Deythan [290]

10 men, Artificer Armour and Melta Bombs on sarge, 10 Sniper Rifles

Dark Fury [340]

10 men, Ravens Talons and Melta Bombs on sarge

Javelin Attack Speeder [85]

Twin Linked Lascannon

Fire Raptor [250]

Reaper Autocannon Battery, Armoured Ceramite, Hellstrike Missiles

2500 points.

Look any better?

I also like your Air Force list, but paying that much on the aircraft... I'll leave that to you ;) thanks again!

Hahaha! Anytime Fire Golem, glad to be of assistance.

For the list itself, it looks just as good as before. The 3 versions you have could all be used equally depending on your mood, really. All that Maun did to the list was make it a tad more reliable / efficient as well as give you some free points (since he costs less than that preator you had) to make the other units better.

As for the Air Force list, I'll call it "Raven Force One"...and it might happen down the line...just...*looks at charred wallet remains*..as soon as I'd like tongue.png

Edit; HOOO BOY just noticed, I can only take Pods If I'm using Decap Strike, which leaves me with 1 HS slot for Fire Raptors...time to edit that post and rectify Fixed it!

The idea for this army is that it's part of the Nomad Predation fleet, and I'm gonna have hints that they become the Carcharodons (grey armour, tribal markings, violent tactics, terminators).

I had the very same :)  I suggest maybe you give up on Mor Deytans and stick to more brutal technicians

I love the idea of the Mor Deythan though, and I'd like to keep some of the stealth/guerrilla warfare aspect :)

I am still not sure about them and maybe they are really the units you "should" give up. Dark furies on the contrary make up really good for those remorsless ambush and assault units that made the RG so precious to the Warmaster ;)

Pls I'm just speculating here, since we had the same idea I don't want to "blame you" for using them. On the opposite I think termies are a good choice that way.

I mean, c'mon, infiltrating terminators? whats not to love? That said, consider Mor Deythan as a more versatile and better specialised sternguard / Seeker or recon marines.

The Dark Furies being focused Vanguard Vets with all LC or Raptors.

I have just realised though that with the squads at 10 in the pods they can't have the Apothecaries with them, is it worth dropping the apothecaries or one legionnaire from each squad? Guessing the latter...

Wait...10 is the minimum isn't it? So I can't use the apothecaries...

how many apothecaries? 2? thats a base of 90 points saved? at most ~130...so really I wouldn't know...maybe more Terminators? They're base 30 with a Power Weapon and Combi-bolter. The rest of your squads are maxed out so that seems like the only thing. Maybe 1-2 rapier batteries?

hmm not really, you'd have to cut more out in terms of upgrades to fit one in. Maybe Primus Medicae Consul in Terminator armor for your Terminator squad?
