Some great stuff there, the madness comes across well.

The dead king looks great the darker look suits the model.

I pictured more skulls as the fluff would suggest that the pick up all/most they slay and being Astartes that would number more than 1 or 2. I would look at the skull taker models cape for inspiration. In how to do it without looking cluttered.

thanks for the kind words happy.png

i do have a lack of skulls on these guys, and the skulltakers' cape is awesome inspiration! the command squad i've just finished has more skulls, mostly mounted to the backpacks on pikes and such. (speaking of cluttered, the company champion has so much crap thrown onto him he might as well be wearing ablative armor made of pouches and knives. wacko.png) i will definitely have to increase the amount of bones somehow........ maybe to answer the lack of bones, they crush up the bones after a battle, and then put them into little vials and tubes to better deal with space? i don't know, maybe tjhat's cheating......???

thanks for the input and ideas!biggrin.png

alrighty, as promised i have the first half of the command squad. they will be finished and the rest posted tomorrow.....

i also realized that , in the beginning of my thread, i didn;t have a command squad in the list... and now i have more than the 67 that i was originally planning, soooooooo i guess one of the line squads is going to be taking some casualties. mellow.png

thirdly, i was having a conversation in my model room with my brother, (we were talking about the believability of tau crisis suits actually taking on a venerable dreadnought and not being slaughtered,) whenever i mentioned the color scheme of my knights, and how they were supposed to be a really dark black-green. Well, he takes on look at the 2 i had painted already, and he

says quote: "bro, those are just straight up black.... you gotta get your eyes checked again, i think they're getting worse." wacko.png

so that entails one of 2 options, i go back and repaint my 2 originals and change the way i do the rest of the army, or i leave them how it is (which i honestly thought was green, curse color-blindedness wallbash.gif ) and move on with the rest of the raptors which are based and waiting paint. help please???

anyway, models. (pardon the blurry pictures, sometimes my phone just doesn't wanna cooperate. sweat.gif

brother apothecary Sevvet Zaccen "the reaping saint"

among a dying band of lasts and finals, Sevvet the reaping saint holds arguably among the most dour and foreshadowing post amongst the remaining Tundaran Knights. Armed with the knowledge of gathering gene-seed, Sevvek takes to the field with the aim of reclaiming the dead's heritage, and stealing that which they can seize from their foes. Only taking to the field when necessity demands it, Sevvek follow the entourage from the rear, as his brothers strike forwards with speed and ferocity, Sevvek proves slow and ponderous, almost seen as cowardly by the standards of astartes. His brothers make no mistake though, for the reaping saint is the last of the apothecarium, and his death would prove to be the chapters' undoing.

Martov stonhek "corpse captain"

Once, Martov Stonhek was known throughout the chapter for his optimistic, if not eccentric, view of their gene-seeds' plight. known for his voracious appetite in spite of the physique of an astartes, his laughter and merry making were easily heard in the halls of the companies' ships. he had served as 3rd captain of the chapters with pride, a very well thought of and much admired soldier whose aim with a bolter was second to none, unless compared to the fervor with which he revered the Emperor and his brothers, no matter their chapters' heritage.

But witnessing the deaths of the majority of his men in what was supposed to be a joint campaign against the Tau at the hands of the Iron Harbingers, men who he had thought of as friends and allies, changed him. Among the growing madness and surreal nature of his chapter, Martov of the third company found himself alone in the halls of his nearly voided battlecruiser, made worse by the ever present hounding of the inquisitorial lap dogs who had butchered his own family.

He survived the purging of the chapter by the sheer ferocity of his resurgence, taking the handful of men left with him and throwing them all into the weak bellies of imperial colonies, he and his wrathful companions butchered thousands of civilians and bondsmen entitled to the Harbingers for months to come. When word finally reached him of the survivors of the chapter regrouping, Martov took the remaining 11 astartes onto their lone thunderhawk, and set the empty Battlecruiser on a collision course with the Agri world of Actovia, the detonation of the ships' core sending the planet into an impromptu ice age and ruining it forevermore.

Now, he acts with Kostin as a shared position of Chapter Master with great reverence alongside them the surviving officers of the chapter, but no longer does he laugh or smile, and can be seen with a saddened, mortified expression when not in the pits of war.

alright, those lads and the Librarian make about half of the commands squads' total six, going off the box, there's a captain-esque, special weapons, standard bearer, apothecary, and champion marine. Coolio.

i was really happy with the way the apothecary came out, a quick leg swap and some minor tweaks

(including a skull on a chain msn-wink.gif ) and he was good to go. The corpse captain was really fun to make, i didn't originally plan to give him the lower half skull treatment, he was going to have the Chaos marine ox style helmet instead, but the ugly raptor helmet i already had cut out took priority and i made it into something i was proud of. The space viking fetishes and general demeanor of the character were my nod to the space wolves, as every army could use a happy go lucky beer swigging norseman once in a while (even if in the past).

Let the Comments flow, good or bad!!! thanks for lookin' biggrin.png

Great kit-bashes, these guys look great!

thanks!

currently in the process of finishing the command squad, and i have a special addition to the growing army that'll knock y'alls socks off! (i hope) he/it will get posted tomorrow-ish, and the command squad later today, hopefully. Trying to keep up the momentum whilst the break is still on for me, because once the second semester of school starts, it'll be harder for me to get anything fun done.... sweat.gif

in the meantime, i have a WIP of the next Raptor/assault marine whaterver-it-is

he just has the base coats on and a wash of seraphim sepia on the bone color, which'll end up a lot brighter than the first two me thinks... still playing around with the scheme a bit.

hopefully it's less black and more green on the main armor? my brother isn't here to critique me anymore as he's with cousins down in Houston for the rest of the week, and my dad's busy working, so you guys' input on color would really help!

see y'alll in a coupla hours, comments appreciated! turned.gif

It just looks like black to me :/. It isn't bad by any stretch, it just isn't green either.

gah! I still don't know whether to just relent and keep it black or to experiment further.thanks for the input though.... sweat.gif

i finished u the next raptor minus his jump pack, do y'all think the brighter bone color works better? if so i'll keep it that way, because I kinda like both. Leave it to the teenager to be indecisive!

Dzhak hrick "the bearer of sins"

the cold blooded demeanor of the astartes named dzhak had long been an ominous token of his wrathful intent. born unto the lowest hives on a planet lost to the imperium to the necron legions, the boy could have been counted as one among 14 to be removed from the planet before it fell, without a single militarum guardsmen being deployed in its' defense. Of the fourteen, all were young men who had been selected by the recruiters of the Tundaran Knights, their lone monitor vessel and escort craft unable to support a war of attrition against the awakening tomb world, instead choosing to take as many aspirants as plausible, and flee.

since his induction into the chapter, the cold, blank stare of the astartes had been his hallmark, showing no effects from the debilitating gene-seed deficiencies that gnawed at the minds of his brothers.

only after the battle of Brachiah pass against the psyker choirs of il-kaith Eldar was his status as a blank discovered, the sergeant had been leading his squad in a counter assault after the defeat of the xenos wraithguard constructs, the psykers' chorus rising to a definitive crescendo, whenever the nearest of them fell to its' knees and screamed, its' compatriots backing away in horror as the diminutive astartes ran forth and placed a bolt round in the suffering Eldars' helmet. The rest followed soon after.

with the fall of the chapter from the halls of the imperium, the notable sergeant of the 2nd company found himself given the offer of carrying the new standard of the final chapter of the Tundaran Knights as they went forth to seek their vengeance. Atop the large pole-arm Dzhak carries into battle, the shield of Artura, a relic of the chapters' ancient service and a memento to the astartes first victorious campaign. behind it, nine vials containing the ashes of fallen brothers are hung. representing the extinct companies of the chapter in their fall from grace. so long as the sin-bearer stands with the standard stubbornly and triumphantly, even the clouded minds of broken space marines can find themselves with renewed purpose in the pursuit of their ultimate goal: revenge.

Kemstan Vriteln "Kostins' will"

Very little can be said of Kemstan save for his willingness to further the will of others, specifically, his superiors. As a bird imprints on its' mother, Kemstan follows the orders of his superiors to the letter every time, or will die in the process. Alone, the man that is Kemstan can be described as bland and fulfilling in personality, usually only speaking of battle tactics and the plans for upcoming confrontations. on the field of battle, though, Kemstans' keen eye and barked communications come to veritable use, as he calls out targets of opportunity and exploits all of his enemies' weaknesses to further the commands he is given.

During the calamity of Ghorenia, he, the 4th sergeant of the 6th company, was ordered by his captain to take his own and a pair of assault squads to break a breach into the defense lines of hive CVX-109, what followed was a series of bloodbaths that left hundreds of guardsmen and 2 score iron harbingers dead in their trenches, even when communications went down between the main assaulting force and his own, Kemstan refused to relent their holdings to waves of armored sentinels and hellhounds of the defense forces. 87 minutes later, when the reinforcements arrived, they found Kemstan holding the squads flamer and bathing the interior of a silver and green siege dreadnought with promethium as its arms flailed around in their mounts on its' forlorn carapace. the three astartes who had survived with him stubbornly killing guardsmen even as their chainswords clogged on the viscera of their foes and became little more than blunted beat-sticks.

His recent promotion to the lone command squad of the entire chapter had no impact on his demeanor, simply glad to follow the orders of the twin captains of the last company and further the chapters' cause. His armament consists of varied assault weapons, proficient in the use of flamer melta-gun and plasma-gun in addition to the standard bolter, the chapters' hound of war continues to serve with distinction and the willingness to drown his enemies with his own blood, if his masters ordered it so.

Chruze Brojnice "the lumbering armory"

Calculating, ruthless, and severe, the quick witted warrior Chruze Brojnice is a towering figure amongst his brothers. the companies', and by extension the chapters', champion, Chruze carved a bloody reputation as a paragon of fighting with the chainsword in the pits of war, taking the brunt of an enemies assault with cold, restrained fury. Never one to let himself be unprepared for the many varied and unpredictable happenings in war, the astartes came to the conclusion that the best way to prepare, was to be armed to deal with all possibilities. Every type of weapon in the armories of the chapter had once been in the hands of Chruze, his capabilities with all from the mono-molecular edged combat knife, to the bulky extent of a plasma cannon give him an unparalleled tactical advantage against his foes.

Probably the most notable engagement of his service was on the dying planet of Pharras at the battle of Carrows' point, the invasion fleets of Tyranids swamping the plains and cities of the planet in chitin and claw. Holding as the rearguard of the evacuation force, the devastator sergeant of the 8th reserves was left with control of 30 brothers under his command, their heavy weapons laying low uncountable aliens as they encroached upon the evacuation landing sites and the cowering citizenry of the planet. Chruze found his position being overrun by a brood of carnifexes that refused to die to the concentrated fire of heavy bolters and plasma charges, taking the initiative as the commander, he stepped forward with chainsword and flamer in hand. his brothers poured their fire onto one of the monsters and the fleets of lesser creatures, only managing to fell as the pair crashed into the defensive walls of the compound housing the extraction ships and the evacuees of the overrun hive. Alone in battle with the gargantuan carnifex, Chruze did not falter, setting the creatures very flesh alight and hacking into its' soft joints, the astartes put on a frightful assault that would have slain lesser foes outright, but the fearless and falling monstrosity responded in kind by spraying boiling plasma all across the ground where the sergeant stood, taking the vision from his left eye, and melting through his arm and a large chunk of his upper torso. Amazingly, Chruze continued to stand after the torrent of bio-plasma, and proceeded to pick up the chainsword from his now disconnected left palm and set about hacking apart the dying living tank as it sank to its' double jointed knees until it was simply a mess of chitin and meat.

after the engagement, when the thunderhawk arrived to pull out the space marines, a pair of astartes supported the massive frame of the injured Chruze, dragging behind him,was the still bleeding skull of his latest kill as its' trachea wrapped around his waistline, a slight smile upon his lips, he looked to the apothecary and said flatly "my brothers insist I require medical treatment." shrugging his shoulders, one arm hanging limp, the other disappearing halfway down his pauldrons' rounded face.

Currently, Chruze serves his Chapter with all his being, slaying enemy warlords and commanders with the same ferocity and calculated strokes learned from hours int ehe practice cages, refining his deadly art. The master swordsman has configured a favored armory that he carries upon his person when in war-plate. a pair of chainswords, one the very same he'd used to end the Carnifex, a brace of nearly a dozen grenades, a pair of bolt pistols, one at his greave, the other hanging by a leather cloth, a trio of combat knives, two paired and another a gift from a fellow sergeant, and strapped to his back is a flamer, and the length of a short cleaver of his own craft. The indomitus pattern armor and modified pauldrons were the work of the small mechanicus cohort and the techmarine of the chapter following the regrouping of the Tundaran Knights and their reformation, his appointing as the company champion meant to bring hope and strength to a grieving and maddened chapter thrown from their side by the emperors' throne.

*whew* that was a lot of typing, can y'all believe i made that up in the time since the last post? me neither. tongue.png

i absolutely enjoyed making these guys, cannot wait to get some paint on them, (if i can settle on a paint scheme too, that'd be

nice pinch.gif ) some little issues in their build, but overall i'm pleased. more than one time i thought that Chruzes' armaments were a but over the top, but then i decided "screw that, he's a friggin' Space Marine!" and threw on tons of stuff anyway, need some plastic at the leg joints to actually modify his height a smidge though.......... yes.gif

who's your favorite of the 6 newest? the apothecary? the standard bearer? Lemme know!

critiques are more than welcomed, as are compliments, because honestly, everybody likes being complimented, you specifically look good today, by the way. msn-wink.gif

got another update ready for tomorrow, so hold your horses! have good 'un!

starovehk Rizene Porozky " the controlled slaughter"

Ancient beyond his years, the astartes Rizene Porozky is a veteran of uncountable battlefields, said to have witnessed the chapters' first campaigns into the stars as a fully fledged battle brother, the ancients' knowledge would have been invaluable beyond belief were they able to comprehend his speech....Time had not been kind on the mind of the entombed astartes, in the long centuries since the ruin of his torso was placed into the confines of the admantium wrought sarcophagus, the death screams of his foes have brought unending torture on his very mind for ages past their deaths. With no means to gather the bones of the dead, their voices are left unquieted and prominent in his psyche, his un-addled state worsened, until the dreadnought began to lose his coherence, becoming less and less connected to his past, his brothers, and himself.

Rizenes' speech has been drastically affected by his condition. To this day, the dreadnought can only speak in tongues, Gothic returning to him rarely as his frustrated attempts to commune with his brothers fail. In war his cursing, battle hyms, and dignified war cries are twisted by his mind from the Gothic of the Imperium, to the tongue of the Tau Empire, Eldar Exodite and Craftworlds, the arachnid Kit' Sha, and the death chant of the Arvathia black monks, among hundreds more. This unnerving mess of words, normally suppressed and confined to his own sarcophagus, has numerous times warranted potent psychological effects among the more frail and civilized opponents of the Tundaran Knights, ancient and alien tongues punctuated by the whirring of chain claws and the firing of heavy weaponry only accentuated by his terrifying visage.

When dropped into the enemy lines with the veterans of the chapters' Purging, the controlled slaughter sets about his foes at close range with a peculiar and ancient chain-claw mounted to his left arm, the whirring and churning of the blades only adding to the ceaseless cacophony the dreadnought creates with his every movement, while his right arm sports the various armaments typical to the dreadnought chassis. A strange pivoting visual cortex mounted at the head of the sarcophagus in the mouth of a leering skull provides both a terror inducing sight, and an unparallelled multi spectrum view of the battlefield, work of the ancient craftsmanship of the mechanicus and the tech-architects of the chapter. Additionally, the few skulls gathered by the dreadnoughts' necessary retinue of battle brothers are often hung from the body of the dreadnought; particularly of note, the corpse of a red corsair sloppily mounted above the cranium of a long dead Black Legionnaire, proof of the ancients' particular hatred of the traitor legions.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

the writing's a bit choppy and rushed IMHO, but i hope it's enough to convey the idea of this guy, tactically acute yet totakky unsane sounding, his tortured mentality is the unfortunate fate of all the chapter, for none of them can escaape the confines of their own minds in the end...

So far as the work on him, i'm pretty happy with it, especially since he's the first actual dreadnought i've ever built (not counting the assault on black reach snap together one) painting him is going to be really rewarding! biggrin.png

i have a couple of sternguard veterans finished and awaiting the rest of their squad, they get the spotlight tomorrow. only problem i have is, i'm running outta time!!! wacko.png

Soon as the break's over i'll be thrown into the ocean that is school and hope to find shores before i drown in the sea of homework and sat test prep that is Junior year of highschool. But 'till then, i'm gonna enjoy the censored.gif outta these next few days!

comments and critique welcome as usual, thanks for looking wink.png

Another update and then i'll be caught up on all my modelling for the break, dunno how much more i'll be able to do, as my Wonderfest model is still in need of my attentions, so this may be the last actual update for a while.

As it's actually raining here in Texas for once, i won't have a chance to get anything based, so unless i get off my rear and actually paint the other 2 raptors (the fifth fell off the stick while spraying, so he's a no go) there'll definitely be nothing to add that's painted. When i do though, i have the Space Hulk terminators that'll most likely be painted as Knights Of Blood, i think i'll post 'em here when i do them, as those 12 models don't warrant a whole new thread or anything.

Anyway, i have 5 of the 7-ish sternguard finished, need to find more crux terminatus pads somewhere, may require another command squad for them, no biggy.happy.png

Don't have any writing for them, as i can't come up with anything off the top of my head at the moment, i think i burned myself out on those other posts the past couple of days. my bad sweat.gif

i'll write stuff for them once they're painted i suppose.

Very, very cool, distinctive Sternguard squad you've got going on there. Chainfist for the Dread looks brutal. If I had any critique it's to make sure you're doing your model clean up, there's a couple of bits here and there like the grenades on Olsleven Havran's shoulder pad that still have a bit of trimming/filing required to cover up where thy came off the sprue. Nice work, otherwise.

Yup, I post them as I work on them, the cleanup comes right before I stick 'em to the sticks to prime.

Oh and those really bad glue spots are the result of this tenax plastic cement, it's got the viscosity of water, and runs over EVERYTHING, but it's more permanent than superglue, so I mix and match both for the situation at hand. I'm actually running over all the models I've got now with some sanding sticks and an exacto. :D

Once again Aquila, you're storytelling blows me away. I hope you get through the next semester of school alright, I know I didn't.wacko.png I noticed that one of the raptors did indeed look a little green. Personally I like it, helps to pull it away from that "Black Legion" look and make 'em a little less Chaos-y.

Thanks!

Well, school's had a "wonderful" start because the first day back i got bombarded with a full 600 word essay AND 2 Physics quizzes, AND 2 pages of Algebra Homework, not to mention a pop quiz in AP US History..... not to mention i'm taking finals to boost grades for 5 classes, in addition to the SAT and the ACT, which will hit me like a bullet train when in the coming months. *sigh* unsure.png

Anywho.

i'll be experimenting more with waywatcher green layers on the finished guys, because i think that'll be the only way to salvage the paint on the trim from being endlessly being touched up again, as far as moving forward, suggestions are more than welcome as far as mixing colors, because what i perceive as a dark dark green is apparently black no matter what these days. sweat.gif

I also totally agree with stepping away from chaos schemes, what i'm afraid of is crossing into nurgle territory (although "the purge" was a really cool warband with a cool scheme to boot...)

Some very cool pieces like how you load them up.

Thank ya much!

Boy Scout motto is "be prepared" one can never have too many back up weapons, especially when there aren't any obvious extra bolter clips lying around or attached to the model!

more glaives for sure, they are always my favorite weapons, especially if a bolter fits onto it. happy.png

Dunno when real update worthy material will get around, with this cold front coming in and freezing over Texas again, i won't be doing much like base spraying models anytime soon. School is such a chore, a never-ending chore, my Wonderfest model yearns to have hull plating across its' 7 feet of hand cut wood skeleton, and i'm running out of bits to make more marines! I'm running on dry with writing and background, need more inspiration, and on top of everything else, my band director (one of 8 actually) let me switch to Bass Clarinet for concert season, so now i have to get practice time in for concerts and solo & Ensemble coming up.

I NEED MOAR TIME!!!

Well, that's enough ranting, gotta get to work, ideas and comments are always welcome, i need the mental break every know and then. biggrin.png

(also, i ran outta likes, so y'all will all get 'em sooner or later)

The dreadnought has got to be my favourite of your models. the chainfist is amazingly brutal and the conversion work is great, especially the dead chaos marine up top and the skull in the head slot.

Also that glaive looks alot like the ones the custodes have, maybe you could make up some fluff saying he stole it off a custodes warrior, sorta like Argel Tal (from a horus heresy novel.)

Keep up the amazing work.

Keep up the amazing work.

Thank you! i really never thought about the custodes glaives before when i was making him, that's an inspiring idea, i'll be sure to weave it in the best way i can!!! biggrin.png

also, the rpg personality test is really cool, i'd always wondered where some of the other members here got 'em from. have to say i'm happy with my own results! happy.png

Yeah, the RPG personality test was great fun, I have done it a couple of times to try and get some different results.

Late comer to this party, but that is a sweet ass looking force weapon! Also digging that chainfist on the dread, wouldn't want to be caught up in that.

Keep up the good work, alot of character in your models!

i gave it 3 tries and they all ended up with beast master, and seeing as i can't multi-class, the title fit. msn-wink.gif

Thank you much!

i was really happy with the force weapon actually, especially for a 5 minute job, although i still need to go back and touch up my work like sprue spots and mold lines (not just him, all of my grays need the clean up before they can get paint sprayed on them.)

and the chainfist 2.0 i have to say i took direct inspiration from the contemptor chainfist, but turned it into something a little more tweaked for infantry mulching, i was planning on having fully exposed double sided chainblades, but seeing as i didn't have 4, i went with the next best thing. happy.png

With about half a company's worth of marines left to convert and kitbash, you can bet I'll keep working! My only hope is to improve and have fun!

next up will be my chaplain, if i can scrounge together enough parts for him. gonna have a bit of an experiment, as i intend to have him modeled to be shrouded in black fog....... hopefully this weekend i can put together something that makes sense and is decent enough to lay eyes upon rather than just some text responses! sweat.gif

(i'm also thinking of an entourage for him, similarly enshrouded, definitely going to need LOTD marines for the skulls and fire, but their character theme is going to be a bit unusual for a bunch of renegades...

more to come! have a good morning/day/evening/night.Thanks for looking!!! biggrin.png

okay, that has to be one of the greatest inspirational ideas for a squad i have EVER heard!

i was thinking radically loyalist originally, or maybe allied attachments of a loyalist chapter that decided to stay with the chapter, and happened to have a penchant for setting themselves on fire, maybe even fire hawks before their chapter went to........ well, wherever they went. happy.png

(maybe not all that peculiar, i haven't thought it through too much yet tongue.png )
