Thank you for reading thus far. This log is the brainchild of a friend of mine, Disease, who will be sharing this log with me. We'll be showcasing our WIP and completed Killzone: Survivors warbands here, following the Killzone ruleset published by the (now sadly defunct) Galaxy in Flames blog. We may well transition to another ruleset at some point however (or make up our own) so hopefully we'll share details of that in a future blog post.

Until then, I leave the next post to Disease, and to the arrival of the Legionnaires of the XIV...

As mentioned by Arkhan, hello and welcome to our combined Heresy thread detailing events in the aftermath of the dropsite massacre.

Due to the sheer scale of the atrocity on Istvaan V, many small warbands of Astartes who were separated during the thick of the battle fought on in micro skrimishes and as guerrillas. Most hoped they would be reunited with their parent legions, but all these survivors hoped for vengeance. In response, the victors dispatched their own Killteams and headhunters into the Illium Rifts to eradicate anything and anyone who would interrupt the harvest of progenoid glands and disrupt the necessary appeasement rituals.

These are tales of such times.

Excellent start, both of you. Can't wait to see what's next.

Arkhan: Have you lengthened your models? Also, you're the first I've seen to use one of those AI sights on a phobos bolter. Looks great.

Disease: Evocative conversions, but I especially like that memorial.

Now this looks like something I'd like to follow!

@ BrotherCaptainArkhan

I like your RG they, especially the pilot, my only grip is the lack of a mag, or should I assume it's just a small mag and does not portrude from the base of the magwell? :)

@ Disease

Really like your DG, your Primus Medicae (?) is awesome, and I feel that mine falls a little bit short compared to yours.

And your bases are badass!

Thanks for the kind comments guys. Excited to be painting/modelling 40k stuff again.

Kalev Ashan is slightly lengthened at the quadriceps; I didn't touch the THunderhawk pilot or the Dark Fury as initial mockups with biggerised legs I had lying around didn't seem to add much to their pose. There's a handful of Mk.IV plate legs that look very short indeed when part of a full model, so it'll be more of an 'as necessary' thing.

Now this looks like something I'd like to follow!

You caught me out, heh. I'd imagined the Thunderhawk pilot's weapon to be a special-issue, compact version of the regular bolt pistol, intended for use in emergency boarding protocols (think the scene in the Night Lords trilogy where an Ultramarines Thunderhawk is boarded by First Claw) as a defensive, last-resort measure. Now as the pilot's Thunderhawk has been shot down, suddenly his weapon of last resort becomes his mainstay weapon as he attempts to escape the killing fields.

That, and the magazine made the pose impossible to pull off otherwise, lol.

Still WIP, but we are getting there at least...

Names to be confirmed, from left to right:

1. Insane hard marine who just refuses to die. Has scavenged raven guard parts in hasty battl field repairs. Broken power pack barely supplying enough power to enable him to keep up with rest of squad. Marked by the gods?

2. Reloading marine, pose taken from call of duty.

3. auto cannon Devastator, bionic eye

Another completion...

Battle-Brother Esric Tökke, VII Co., Support Cadre, assigned to Thunderhawk Wrath of Lycaeus

Tökke adjusted his grip on the combat knife he'd liberated from Ospak's corpse. His fellow pilot's weapon, a fine monomolecular-edged knife typical of Kiavahr's bladesmiths, hadn't even been drawn from its sheath before the Iron Warrior had gunned down Ospak where he lay, trapped in the burning wreckage of the Thunderhawk. That the Iron Warrior was dead now - his cooling corpse lying a few metres behind where Tökke now crouched, arterial blood still flowing from a slit throat - was little comfort to Tökke. Ospak had died a bad death.

Tökke watched as the other Iron Warriors swept through the wreckage of his former gunship. The cargo - twenty of the Legion's Dark Furies - had long since made their departure whilst the gunship was airborne, trusting to their muffled jump packs and fickle Fate to carry them safely to the ground below. Tökke had no doubts they'd survive to reap a bloody toll amongst the enemy.

The enemy. As Tökke watched, one of the Iron Warriors drew closer to his concealed position, only a few feet from the other traitor's still-warm corpse. Looking for his fallen brother, no doubt. Through the smoke and fire Tökke saw the steel-plated figure draw a large rectangular object from his utility belt, and the dim green light of an auspex screen flickered into existence, just visible through the smog. If the Iron Warrior scanned the area he'd find Tökke's position in an instant. No alternative now but to take the bastard while he was blind.

The Raven Guard lined up the shot, his silenced bolt pistol steadied by the hand still gripping Ospak's knife. He exhaled gently, blocking out all other distractions - the noise of the Thunderhawk's engines still faintly rumbling, the crunch and crackle of ceramite-armoured boots coming closer to his position, the distant roar of gunfire and the screams of ten thousand warriors bleeding their last - as his target approached.

As the Iron Warrior stepped forward, Tökke followed the path the bullet would take with his sight, picturing it tearing through the iron giant's eyepiece and detonating in the soft tissue within. He squeezed the trigger softly, ever so softly...

Tökke fired.
