That is quite a nice looking force you got there! Even better to know that GM has looked upon them with his own eyes!

Also, there is a traitor in the squad to the bottom left.

He's no traitor, obviously just using the tried and true method of ascending up the iron warriors corporate ladder: promotion via bolter shell

Greetings fellow brethren! I got a nice game in yesterday to kick off the new year. The 53rd faced off with my friends Grey Knights in a 1500 pts game. It was a really nice game with some nasty rolls, twists and turns, and we had a lot of fun. My friend brought (roughly) the following list:

2 Squads of Terminators with a level 3 librarian in each

1 Squad of Paladins with an Apothecary

2 Dread Knights

2 Razorbacks with lascannons

Since I didn't know what he would bring, I went with good ol' IW style equipment, meaning lascannons and meltas. Here's my list.

Arakhanos - DP of Tzeench with black mace, level 3, spell familiar, wings, armor

Siegemaster Graxus - Helbrute with lascannon, fist

2 Squads of 10 CSM with votlw in rhinos, one with 2 meltas, the other with lascannon and melta; the Champs got owerswords (and yeah those were totally useless :smile.: ) and combimelta

1 Squad of 5 havocs with 2 lascannons in a rhino with launcher

2x2 Oblits with MoN

Aegis

Quick summary:

Well, to make the long story short, the daemon prince wrecked balls with his wrecking ball and mopped up the paladins, one terminator squad with the warlord and a dread knight, before he went down to the second dreadknight. In the olden days of enemy territory this would have been called a "k k killing spree!!!". Of course, all but the dread knight, which he crushed when I rolled a 6 for the mace, were softened up by heavy fire before, but still, the combats saw some nasty 1s and 2s for daemonhammer attacks, while I rolled 2, 6 and 1 for the mace. The 2nd thing that turned the game in my favor was a completely wasted psychic phase on his second turn, in which he wasn't able to cast one of his destructive powers, despite having like 18 power dice! That was some tough luck right there, and the game had started so well for him when his first shot fired blew up the rhino of the havocs taking the champion with it. So at the beginning of turn 4 there was only one librarian and the two razorbacks left on his side and I led 10 to 5 in victory points, so he called it a game. Today will be the rematch, and I will probably get my ass kicked. :biggrin.:

Anyways, 2015 starts with a crushing victory for the Iron Warriors! So, happy new year everyone!

Here some impressions from the game:

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk33/Therrous/game%2003-01-15/20150103_222747.jpg

Arakhanos getting ready to charge the paladins who survived the devastating IW barrage. Sadly (or luckily), he will only cause one wound (out of 8 attacks) and the other guy will lose one too, to the curse.

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk33/Therrous/game%2003-01-15/20150103_225249.jpg

The Grey Knights try to close in on the besieged IW and to bring their psychic powers to bear - but the emperor betrays them (as there is truely no other explanation for so many failed psychic tests in a row!). The dread knight close to Arakhanos is about to charge, knowing little of the pityful fate he is about to meet.

77th Grand Company, led by Warsmith Meridius

Admired at Warhammer World yesterday by his holiness Graham McNeill

http://i62.tinypic.com/1rwyop.jpg

Really great IW army you've got there hopkins.  That table one my favrout from Warhammer World & since they've updated it, adding more recently bit of terrain.

Do you have any close up of the models?  I'll get your warbands added to the list on the first post.

Iron Skull Mask - That look like a really great game & good way to start the year.

I know mange to end last year with last three brillaint games during the Christmas Holidays.  Battle Space Wolves twice & Nids.  My first game of the year will be against Orks this week, possible go unbound with a Terminator force with Land Raider transport & Obliterators support.

How are IV Legion memeber call of chaos vows going?  Feel free to post up your finish work & I'll get somthing sorted for that to add to this topic.

Little delyed yesterday due to sign of headache.  But getting there.  Just have a Dark Apostle left to convert up, that should get done during the weekend.  But it should all be finish for Thursday 15th, next week.

Thanks IP, your idea of the terminator-force sounds really interesting. Keep us up to date and get well soon (that first of all).

CoC: Well, real life was a bit rough at the end of last year, so I have to admit that I couldn't find much time for painting. The socerer is done, the vindicator almost, but the daemons still need a lot of work and I have to admit that paining them is not as fun as I thought, so I'm not as motivated. I will try my best to get them all done until the deadline, but I might end up with the batch of shame this time around.

Quick note: We played the rematch, and it was great fun as well, but saw the 53rd losing 9:12 in vp after a 7-turn war of attrition, after which like 12 models were left on the table (from both sides combined).

staying battleforged with a 30k Iron Warriors Legion force and fielding Perturabo himself is just 10k times more awesome: Perturabo's Terminator Assault

Been in CoC. But can't get my vows done in time :( Anyways, finished up a vindicator and sorcerer. Pics can be found there http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297974-call-of-chaos-vii/page-25 in post #613.

Plan for the rest of the year:

  • Have more games against the people from my new gaming group. Will see how this goes, as I can only play that many times due to work eating me alive.
  • Get the slaanesh daemons I vowed for CoC done.
  • Get the quad-gun for my aegis done.
  • Get 1-2 Landraiders done. Man, I love them heavy dudes! Can't wait to field a Landraider built and painted all be me, myself and I (and be the paintjob plugugly). :D
  • Get a Terminator Squad done. Got a good idea for their looks (me thinks) and the weird plan to magnetize cataphracti combi-weapons with magnetic tape. I tried it with the flamer of Graxus last ETL and it works fine. Will see how it goes.

Yeah well, at my speed this will keep me busy for the next decade and God knows how many challenges and editions, Lol. :D

Late to the party!

Warsmith Hecaton leads the 79th Grand Company. His 3 captains and their companies form the fighting force of the 79th. Each of the captains specialize in a different aspect of warfare:

Captain Briareus The Vigorous: his company is skilled in the classic art of trench warfare and seiges. Has a propensity for stretching out battles until his foes die of starvation.

Captain Cottus The Furious: specializes in striking enemies at their week points until they break, then swarming in for the kill. Favors the use of cavalry and rapid assaults.

Captain Gyges The Stalwart: specializes in the heavy use of tanks and mechanized infantry. Comprised of a large force of Tyranthikos.

They gained renown during the Great Crusade and during the Heresy for mercilessly and completely obliterating their enemies, slaughtering entire populations even after the enemy surrendered. Where the IV Legion was a hammer to crack open an enemy's defenses, the 79th was dynamite.

They're based out of the Eastern Fringe and rule a feral world that has been forgotten by the Imperium.  From their fortress deep in the planet's jungles, they lord over and subjugate the populace who worship them as vengeful gods.

They command a force of renegade mortals, the core of which is made up of elite guardsmen who turned to chaos after their old regiment was nearly annihilated by a tendril of hive fleet Kraken, but not before completely routing the xenos from the planet. Captain Briarius happened upon the aftermath of the battle. Admiring their strength, Briarius assimilated the survivors into his company. The renegades now form a sizeable force of rogue guardsmen, mutants, and beastmen.

The 79th is currently being hunted by, and have had numerous clashes with, the Marines Errant.

"It's survival of the fittest. Those who lack strength deserve no mercy. Not even our fellow Astartes."

-Warsmith Hecaton, 79th Iron Warriors Grand Company

Hi everyone, I'm not an IW player but I do have something to tell you guys which I hope you'll like.

I'm starting a new B&C event soon called Augustus' Arena: the B&C Inter-Frater Hobby Challenge, the purpose of which is to strengthen the bonds between B&C frater through friendly hobby challenges. The intent is that any frater can challenge another frater to make one legal unit within a time frame set my the challenged, while the challenger acts as a coach and motivator to the challenged, with feedback and encouragement on the updates of the challenged of his/her progress. If enough frater join in, this will create a dense interconnecting network of challenges that will yield a ton of fun, banter, and hopefully excellent miniatures. Of course there will be cool banners, medallions and awards in the end.

if you trench monkeys like idea, please let me know and I´ll post an invite here :biggrin.:

1/4 page teaser...HHRRNNGGGG

I'm teased.

but John French also did the Crimson Fist...can it be forgiven?

I...wouldnt bother with Black Oculus. While I normally love French's work, there isn't enough room in this to actually give anything of substance. The teaser contains as much info as the full thing does.

Although it would make a good novel in its own right...

spoilers?

 Really, its just:

After Fulgrim’s ascension to daemonhood at Iydris, Perturabo and his Legion were trapped by the singularity at the heart of the so-called ‘Eye of Terror’. Their only option? To thread the needle, and dive into the heart of the black hole. Perhaps by sheer blind luck, they were transported far across the warp to the Tallarn System – but the Navigators in service to the Iron Warriors fleet were irreversibly corrupted by that harrowing experience. Now they serve a new purpose, and Perturabo’s plans for revenge come closer to fruition...

I really didnt get any sense of why they attacked tallarn, other than blind chance. It does somewhat explain why the fleet was burning and spinning when it appeared in Executioner.

(They went through a black hole?)

Basically the astropaths go insane when they enter the black hole, and can see...well. All of time and space. like Magnus the Red in Scars. I guess the most interesting bit is that the birth of Slaanesh created a black hole, which is at the centre of the EoT. Although it doesnt really make too much sense, a black hole being made of matter.
