So faar i only have 1½ of the 6 tactical squads ready. But im closing in on the 2nd assault squad (with jp's!!!!) and im slowly starting to assemble my devastators. Im magnetizing their heads so i can change them to tactical heavy weaps if needed.

Havent made a single tank yet so got 8 rhinos and different support stuff to go.

It's gonna be a loong run but isnt it worth it? You know? For Sanguinius?

Really like the model. Cant see myself using him in a game

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2015-02-28%2012.59.51%20HDR.jpg

The dread is an old DA dread i've done my best to look like a brother of the 9th

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2013-11-16190600.jpg

I actually have like 30 of these basecoatet from back when dantewing was a thing. Miss that option.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2015-07-19%2015.29.25.jpg

2nd tactical squad finished. Tryed to model them as if they where charging an enemy unit. I have a plan to try the same with  a devastator squad allthough it seem like quete a hassle with lascannons and plasma cannons.

At the moment im painting the last demisquad for my 2nd assault squad and trying to figure a standart to paint all my armor.

What i really should be working on is more dc marines with jump packs.

Thanks for checking in :smile.:

Stay tuned for next years update

I finished something! Alert the interwebz!!

I had some time to get some painting done and i managed to finish of the rest of my jump pack armed assault marines. This brings me up to two full 10 man squads.

So i guess i can cross that off the battle company to-do-list.

I keep trying to use new methods when i paint and i keep seeing myself getting a bit better so im happy abouth the result.

Next i guess i should paint a unit that im actually using when i play.... or i can just paint more terminators :tongue.:

thx for stopping by :smile.:

Nice stuff here mate! I like your red. Would you mind sharing your technique?

Also, in that last pic it looks the marine in the center has knocked the one in the back off balance with his chainsword. I know it's just the angle of the pic, but I still find it comical. Lol

Hahaa you're right. The marine is intended to look like he is touching down from a jump. Im not to happy with the result but i had teared him of his old base the glueing area on his foot became an issue.

The red is achieved from undercoating the marines with vallejos grey air primer and afterwords a few coats of vallejo air scarlet red.

Keep going, we need more than one update per year!

I'll do my best. I've rediscovered my joy for painting the last few weeks so it shouldn be too long :)

thx for reading :)

So.. Just a quick progress report.

I have been having some time with my airbrush and i have under and basecoatet the 3rd tactical squad, a meltacide squad, a sanguary high priest and 2 marines with lascannons. The lascannon marines helmets have been magnetized so i can switch between tactical marines and devs. That way i can switch around the heavy weapons in my tactical squads.

Blurry pictures as proof:

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2015-10-16%2022.08.27.jpg

I've also finally begun painting a vehicle. I'm gonna try to see if i can figure out how to pre-shade things. Looks like a huge time saver.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2015-10-16%2022.04.59.jpg

I need to fix some of the pre-shade but that was expectet since its my first try. Just getting familier with my airbrush for other purposes than pure basecoating.

Thx for stopping by :)

  • 3 weeks later...

So. Its been far to long and i haven't been painting as much as i wanted.

That beeing said i have paintet a bit and the rest of this post halloween sunday where i am blessed with piece and quiet from a girlfriend who lies on the coutch with homungous hangovers, i can see myself spend most of this day with my blood angels.

I've just undercoatet my fraggiuso in an attempt to paint some of the units i actually use

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2015-11-01%2015.56.13.jpg

I've tryed putting the first layer of red on my test predator. I can't figure if i like it or not. Next one i paint will be a bit less slobby but its more the overall shading effect that i am unsure of. That being said i think that when i paint all the details and eventually give it a bit of weathering/battledamage the result should be decent enough. Hopefully i will soon have an answer.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2015-11-01%2015.56.29.jpg

I've begun shading the last batch of minis that i have basecoatet. I am allready a pretty slow painter but this is the most time consuming i think. But also the one that i find most important for the end result.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2015-11-01%2015.56.58.jpg

Notice the baby blue terminator in the right corner. A few years ago i aquired a pre-owned loganwing. I've sold some of it off to a friend but i always wanted to try to paint some of them. Eventually make a small SW army (Thunderwolves Hoooo!!!).

I have been looking at some of the painting tutorials GW puts on youtube and find them quite helpfull so im gonna follow the one on gray hunters as good as i can for the terminator.

I also nicked a quick picture of my standing army so you guys could get an impression on the size of my current army. All the stuff in the cabinet is done. Allthough i do wanna go back as i can see how much my painting has improved and fix small flaws. Also i want all the power armored ones to have 32mm bases. But thats gonna wait until i have a fully painted force.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2015-11-01%2014.33.42.jpg

Then ofc theres the wip pile...

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2015-11-01%2014.33.57.jpg

I've promised myself i won't glue more stuff together before i've finished another bunch of miniatures. Yeayea i know. I'm just lieing to myself. But i find myself trustworthy enough to believe it :smile.:

Thx for stopping by guys :smile.:

Edit: How on earth do i change the name of the topic?

The pre-shading on the Rhino looks awesome.  How many coats of red did you spray over the top?

Thank you :)

Only one layer so far. Think i will give it one more and then a few more where i have been a little to generous with the black.

So.... It's been 6 months so i guess it's time for an update.

I have been bitten by the painting bug the last few weeks. Time has been scarse though. But i have managed to finish up 6 bolter marines for the 3rd tactical squad.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-05-14%2019.21.11.jpg

I am close to finishing the rest of the squad aswell. Just need to airbrush a few magnetized helmets and paint the last few details. Originally the squad had a heavy flamer but for some reason i have paintet up 2 lascannons that i had primed. I'm gonna airbrush a bunch of magnetized heads blue so i can use them for devs aswell. Guess i better get going on the heavy flamer dude while we still got that in our codex :biggrin.:

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-05-14%2019.21.49.jpg

May 8th was my birthday and for the first time in the past 10 years i havent gotten any plastic soldiers. So i decided to buy myself a birthday gift.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-05-14%2022.12.27.jpg

I've allways been a fan of the DW marines ever since they appeared in a white dwarf somewhere in 4th edition. Now they made some really cool mini's to represent them so i had to add them to the ever growing pile of marines i wanna paint.

I'f im not gonna use the dataslates for them im pretty sure noone would mind if i use them as stand ins here and there. Loved how they worked in that 2nd book in the ultramarine omnibus where a squad is devided between a company of ultrasmurfs for maximum xeno purging.

The knights where just to good a deal to pass up. Even though i allready have one im still assembling.

Got no plans for the rest of the weekend other than some much needed housework so i plan on painting quite a bit. So i hope the next update wont be faar off.

Thx for stopping by

- Jesper

I have taken this week off work becuse i wanna relax properly prior to copenhell in the end of this week

With all that free time i wanted to sit down for a rather long airbrush session with some tanks so i decided to give this bunch a bath since they where pretty much covered in dust.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-06-21%2011.07.46.jpg

I needed to clean my airbrush up for that so i disassembled it and threw it in the ultrasonic cleaner. I keep my cleaner in the old crappy utility room in my apartment i havent bothered fixing up since i bought the place. As a result of that i now dont have a 4mm nozzle that fell down behind the countertop :dry.:

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-06-21%2011.35.13.jpg

So todays airbrush work will all be done with 2mm nozzle since im not gonan wait for a replacement. Dont really think i have a place nearby where i can pick one up.

Anyway. So faar i have given them the first coat of black in cracks and recesses. I need to give them another one before i overspray with light gray.

As faar as i can tell all the work lies in getting a good pre-shading going. Then the rest should be a cakewalk. Il update when i cna show you some pre-shade results.

Thanks for stopping by

-Jesper

I have been hard at work with the airbrush today and yesterday. Was hell using 0.2 nozzle since it clogged pretty often. Thankfully a new 0.4 just arrived today so i am now done with preshading!

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-06-22%2017.59.54.jpg

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-06-22%2017.59.41.jpg

I've chose to give all the rivets a qucik dap of wash since im still to clumse to shade them with airbrush.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-06-22%2017.22.58.jpg

The shading might not be especially consistent yet but i feel there has been a good learning curse so faar and im eager to see the finished results... Especially that Sicaran :D

Thx for likes and comments. Really keeps the motivation up :)

Thank you good sir!

Note to self:

Pre-shading need to be way more defined than i thought. Or i have to apply red more gently. The red coat is running in some of the corners where i want it to be dark so there a fien red line in the middle of the nice dark shade -.-

Doesnt seem like its to hard to fix though. I'ts a learning curve so its fine.

Hope to be able to show off a finished predator chassis soon. Initial airbrushing is done of that atleast.

I've recently startet to rebase my entire collection. I both wanted all my power armored ones to have 32mm bases and i wanted to tidy up some of my early'er work. Booth base wise and painting wise. Not to much though since i dont wanna spend to much time on it.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-10-07%2015.00.32.jpg

Old base on the left. New on the right

I've also managed to finish up my meltacide squad. Should i make another one?

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-10-21%2018.08.12.jpg

I really digg the new marine sets. I can build marines that make the impression that they actually aim with their weapons. The meltaguns are magnetized in case i wanna run with flamers or plasmaguns. Helmets on all 5 of them are magnetized aswell so i can throw on some golden ones for a makeshift honour guard, or if need the sergent or a spec weapon for a tactical squad, i can put one red ones.

....and no i dont paint the knepad markings :tongue.:

I've also finished a few heavy weapons:

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/2016-10-21%2018.08.56.jpg

Again i have magnetized the helmets. then i can throw on some blue helmets and use them as devestators.

I havent got angels blade yet but i hope it will arrive for me tomorrow. Are you guys using it? I look forward to glimpse through it.

Next on my assembly list is a devestator squad. Need to assemble 1 more heavy weapons, 5 bolters and a sergent. How do you guys equip you'r devestator sergents?

Thx for stopping by :smile.:
