As I get closer to being set with what I need for a small force I had a thought. My friend and I were discussing how different militaries work together...which put the idea of different uniforms in one army in my head.

So my question is...would people get angry if say my platoons were dive in different schemes from each other and also having other AM forces such as Catachan and steel legion in the same list?

I created my own Regiment the 45th Imperial on the same principal. Decimated regiments would be folded up into the Imperial Regiments with their allocation of resources also sent to them. The Regiment then took the survivors and divided them by companies that fit their style of fighting. The sizes of which were never fixed and were allowed to balloon out of control.

I did this with the older regiments over the newer.

Red Company - Jungle Fighters

Green Company - Traditional Fighters (Cadians)

Blue Company - Formal Fighters (Mordians and probably Vostroyan if I had any), these also acted as the command squads for the Regiment.

Gold Company - Desert Fighters (Tallarn)

White Company - Winter Warriors (Valhallans)

Black Company - Night Fighters (The old beret style Storm Troopers, Steel Legion and the Tanith Scout Troopers)

Their helmets/headgear would be painted in the different company colors.

Any Storm Troopers of the more modern designs (Kasirkin and the Scions) were attached to a separate formation the 4055th Storm Trooper Detachment or Rainmakers and all vehicles  were apart of the 74th Mechanicum Reclamation Detachment.

I hear only good things about the Wyvern although I have not yet got around to building mine yet.

Soon, soon....

If you build them to be interchangeable, which is what I am going to do, then you can try both out :)

Indeed, it's easy enough to have the model be both :) The Wyvern is a cheap unit that will punish light infantry and put enough wounds on other infantry to make it hurt, a very nice artillery tank (best in a squadron of two). The Hydra is quite good, but not as useful as in the previous codex. If you're expecting to be up against skimmers and/or flyers then it may be worth investing in, but if you don't then it will struggle to find much use.

I have 2 wyvern. They are indeed pretty awesome, especially for the point cost. In my first game with I wiped out an entire squad of necrons turn one from behind a building and my opponent spent the rest of the match trying to destroy them. It was amusing.

That's the Wyvern for you, just keeps on giving :P Even more so when your opponent goes out of his way to revenge himself - should your opponent eventually get them you can inform him how many points the two tanks cost. You can then tell how good he is at maths by the time it takes for his expression to change

The Hydra is OK ... it lacks Interceptor so even if that rule does get changed to work like it did in 6th the Hydra will still not be able to fire effectively at ground targets. I would look at a defense line with a quad-gun or two if you need anti-air. That way you could at least get first shot at those drop pods and teleporting terminators.

The Wyvern is the OP-brokeness star of the codex.

While not quite that bad it is why you should use it while you can, it will undoubtedly get a points increase next codex at the least :P Probably just as well the Wyvern is so good for the points otherwise the new kit would have hardly sold. The Hydra needs something to make it more attractive.

Here is some imput form me if you want it. welcome to the Guard world and enjoy it. It becomes an addiction very quickly.......

Ok..here's what I'm up to (Pics once i'm set up.)
 ! CCS (Cadian,Unbuilt)

Good start, Box has loads of kit in it to spread the love across the rest of your infantry too.

PCS(Officer with BP/CCW,Vox,Medic,Standard)

With these ugrades i would consider this as a CCS as PCS (as i run them) are best naked, a single HW, or Flamer death with maximum flamer templates.

about 50ish Cadian Guardsmen

Are these unassembled? if so you can use the left over upgrade parts from the CCS to get some more specialists in your games. If made with superglue you can ometimes carefully snap arms/heads apart to ammend. A good solid base of infantry though.

5 man Scion team (Volly,Melta)

I am only now dabbling into the world of scions but these should work well. Maybe use them as part of a scion platoon even Scion Command?

10 man Karskin (2 melta)

Would work well as a 10 man or even a suicide melta 5 and hotshot 5

LR Punisher (Commander/Pask)

Good choice and i would personally give it HS and Bolters all round for more shots.

2 LR With options to be all the variants

Good tanks all of them, Just ensure magnetisation to keep all options open.

wyvern/Hydra

Wyvern is my choice personally. For AA i rely on AC as if no other AC at least they can shoot ground tartgets at full BS.

Sentinel (Auto cannon)

I use Armoured sentinels with Plasma Cannons, But these are a good choice for either type of sentinels.

HellHound

Good and i still like to know where the template goes as opposed to the slightly cheaper eradicator that potentially scatters.

2 Chimeras

Good in numbers or as a order bunker for a ccs.

Taurox

Not used personally but i can see vets using cover to get close having some luck with these potentially?

Baneblade/Variant

SHadowsword/variants.

Never used a super heavy so no imput i am afraid.

2 Valkyrie (1 converted to Vendetta using magnents)

Fairly decent start? >.>

Good air support, I use valks with ML and MRP but ensure that you use the transport ability as that is included in the cost and one of the best ways to get across a table.

A Air cav assault following Scions in could be deadly. In fact i will work on a list around that myself now..........

Help is always helpful to a recruit such as myself. All the guardsmen are built though it wouldn't be to hard to pop the arms off the ones in the strip bath. I plan to get maybe 2 boxes of Catachans to spice up the army as well since I have a few Steel Legion troops.

Also have Yarrick, the new Commisar,Techpriest and ADL.

It is an addiction...it all started when me and a buddy split a lot cause he wanted the Tau so I got the SM,SoB,and maybe a 500 pt list worth of IG...They were originally only going to be an ally for my Dark Angels....:p
