Trying to make a decent yet fluffy NL/AL allies list, the idea is kinda like AL minders, sort of like the CIA in Vietnam, watching over their NL task force. The AL Detatchment is therefore quite small, this is also because I wanted to fit certain things in the NL detachment (Sevatar, the Primus Medicae as I already have him converted up, the Contemptor, the Terminators to represent the Atrementar, the Night Raptors). So how does it look? Anything ridiculously awful? Slips Posted September 27, 2014 Share Posted September 27, 2014 I think the only problem is that you have 1 dreadnought and 1 tank. Dread Being CC focused with have to get in there to do some work but, since he's the only one besides the sicarian, will probably receive a lot of anti-tank fire. The Sicarian, while good, will still be the only tank. So if they have any anti-tank and they blow up the dread running at them before the sicarian is in range to be a threat and thus split up their focus, it's going to follow suite quite rapidly. Your focus with this list will be to take out anything that can pose a decent threat to you vehicle units. Also, only source of decent anti-air being the sicarian will make it a prime target for any flyers that show up. And even then all it does is negate the Jink Saves does damage through weight of fire. Slips Posted September 27, 2014 Share Posted September 27, 2014 Sicarians are good, but think about having more armoured threats for your opponent to deal with so that they don't just focus everything on either one at a time. Target saturation is the name of the game here. If you want a CC dread and a Sicarian I'd add either another Dread with a Ranged Weapon, a Mortis, a Whirlwind Scorpius or a Predator Squadron. Or any combination thereof. Edit: the easiest way I see of fixing this problem would be to make it a Mono-Legion List. that way you don't have to take an additional HQ and Troops choice. But then, that ruins the theme of the force. If Jump Pack Units were able to assault flyers, so many problems would be solved. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Slips Posted September 27, 2014 Share Posted September 27, 2014 I'm going to school to be a Game Designer...I wouldn't be going down that route if I didn't have an "affinity" for such things. Also, Hardcore Wow Raider Background making me have a Min/Max mindset when tackling List Building Challenges and other such stuff does help :p But enough about me : I made an Edit to my earlier post detailing a possible solution but if we go into further Detail : •Replace the Dread with a Predator Squadron. For the Price of him alone you could get 1-2 maybe 3 predators. •Counter to everything that we know for 30k, reduce the size of the AL tac squad to 10 and use those 100 points saved that way to get a single Predator or something similar. (whirlwind Scorpius for example) •Replace Night Raptors and Contemptor with a Contemptor Dreadnought Talon and with the points left over, potentially take a Mortis or another Sicarian. •Replace Terminator Squad with the Above for Night Raptors •Say "Screw it" Fluff > Min/max and just play the list and give 0 F's about anything I'm suggesting :p •If Sevetar makes Terror Squad Troops, Replace one of the Tac Squads (or maybe both) with them and if there are any savings pass them on to balancing out the list (very doubtful) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Of those options my favourite is dropping the AL squad to 10 and squeezing a Whirlwind Scorpius in there, but does that make the AL Detatchment even more useless? And if I ever did bring such a List I would totally let people tailor their list a bit to counter it just because of the amount of sheer cheese it brings.
