Fun list for sure, but its a lot of bodies and very little anti armor or ranged dakka. I'd consider dropping some of your bodies in exchange for some more anti armor or anti air (you have very little).

If your opponent brings a bunch of artillery, what would you do?

If your opponent  brings a bunch of tanks, what would you do?

If your opponent takes a spartan with a deathstar inside, how would you deal with it?

If your opponent has a pair of fire raptors flying around, how would you shoot them down?

Just some things for you to consider :)

Erm... Pass, to all...

I mean, artillery and tanks, I guess I only really have the Sicaran, Sicaran for anti air...

I don't know really. What kinda things would you suggest? Ideally I'd like to keep the reavers (or 5 at least) and the Contemptor because I've just ordered those...

An allied list can be fun, but you spend a lot of points for it. Have you considered just using a single legion and just painting up an HQ/squad from another legion and running with just one legion? Troops/commanders were on loan all over the place within the legions to give experience or expertise in battle and strengthen their own legion.

Fire Golem, from this point onward for lists at 2500+ think about how you'd deal with a List like my Raven Force One's 3 Storm Eagles and 2 Fire Raptors or how you'd deal with a Clown Car World Eaters list that has 3 Spartans loaded with 20 Tacs with extra CCW (chain axes), Apothecaries and Chaplains (for 3k add 3 Dual DCCW with Heavy Flamers to the list).

Sure they are extremes but, if you don't have at least one contingency + redundancy in your list to deal with one of the following :

Okay thanks guys. I think I'm gonna write a new list for things like that. Probably a single legion one. I'll do it in the morning though as I'm only up because there's a bloody thunderstorm and my window was open and I got rained on while I was sleeping -.-

what better way to put your sleep schedule back in place than PULLING AN ALL NIGHTER!!!! (don't do it horrible idea. I've tried it multiple times. Regret the whole way.)

But really, Troops heavy lists are nice, but with the prevalence of Armor in 30k, having no way to reliably deal with them is a detriment to victory.

have you thought about instead putting together Zone Mortalis Lists? Smaller points levels and being more troops orientated means that its easier on the wallet and easier to get games down.

I have, but I don't know the rules for Zone Mortalis (they're in book 1 right? I don't have that one yet).

I am quite happy with the list above, but I think I will make a couple of different lists, maybe swap the terminators out for some more anti armour stuff. What should I use for anti armour? Heavy weapons squads? Or my own armour?

The safest bet would be your own armor since Heavy Weapon squads are vulnerable to much more than just anti-tank stuff.

A good option to consider is the Sicarian Venator. That thing is mean for its price point but rather fragile, say, compared to a Land Raider Achilles or Spartan.

Another would be Air-Borne Anti-tank such as the Fire Raptor (yeah...its pretty expensive...).

IIRC, (ie I'm too lazy to walk the 5 feet to my bookself or open battlescribe) Fire Raptor is in the range of a Land Raider Proteus (the cheapest one) + 10-30.

Venator clocks in at a fully suped up Sicarian or close to. What I mean by that is : Sicarian + LC Sponsos and Armored Ceramite.

In that case then, instead of dropping the Termies, Ill make it a mono legion list and drop the AL stuff, that's like an extra 740 points. Although I'll lose the Sicaran. Should I drop the whirlwind Scorpius so I can have the Sicaran, the Venator and the Fire Raptor?

Hmmmmmmmm....Thats rather tricky since all four are pretty great...

Tell you what : Get 2 Contemptor-Mortis' with whatevs and Take the both Sicarians + WW Scorp. I think that will fit the theme of the list better. More so than having a bunch of tanks and "oh yeah, this plane/gunship".

Tell me about it! *has fever dreams about the IF contemptor*

As for Zone Mortalis : (you actually got me off my lazy butt to walk to my self and grab the book)

Defenders FoC : HQ+Troops Mandatory

Attackers FoC : HQ + Elites Mandatory.

Neutral FoC (neither are specified as being of the above categories) : HQ + Troops.

Recommended point range of 1k or less.

No Dedi Tansports (obv)

No Units bigger than 15 man before IC joinings.

Vehicles other than Walkers may not be chosen unless their models are no more than 4" wide.

MCs with a base bigger than 60mm cannot be taken.

No Barrage Weapons.

Yes, this is in Book 1. I think its also in the smaller books IIRC.

Beyond that, there are various rules for the Terrain and stuff that you could honestly ignore if you really wanted to.

In fact what I might do is ring FW and change the 2 contemptor CCW for either 2 Lascannons or 2 Autocannons and start building this list first.

And thanks for the ZM force org info :)

I personally like this better since it contemptors can also provide anit-(heavy)Infantry and Anti-Tank as well as Anti-Air support.

Though, with Reavers and Terminators I'm failing to see the point of Extra CCW on the Tac Squad since they'd have to footslog across the field to make use of the upgrade.

Sadly another problem is the terminators since they'll be moving at Slow and Purposeful speeds without a vehicle.

And Again with the Reavers. Do they come stock with Jump Packs?

The current limitation with your list right now is that you have close combat elements but no way to get them there reliably.

To be honest, I gave the tac squad CCW because Bolters look cool with chainsaw blades, but I'll take that off and give the reavers jump packs with the points. Dunno what to do about the terminators though :/

You can model those on there anyways if you want to.

If you can find no solution to your terminator problem, you'll have to essentially baby-sit them as they walk across the map with maybe half your army to make sure they get to do their job.

if you drop half the squad and a contemptor, you could probably squeeze in a Land Raider Phobos (its the plastic GW one with Las Cannons) to use as a transport. That said, you wouldn't be able to fit the Primus Medicae in there since it has a capacity of 10.

The only other solution would be : A Spartan or a Storm Eagle.

Of those two, the Eagle is the most viable of them (being the cheaper option) and has 20 capacity + being a flyer.

You'd be able to keep the squad at 9 man + PM and only lose 1 terminator doing so. You'd still have to find a way to get those points out of your list. The most evident being a Contemptor.

I'd need to check my math on this though.
