Update No 1 for me. Not going very well, need to pull my socks up. These guys are at around 50% - THERE IS SO MUCH DETAIL TO PAINT, MY EYES, MY EYES!!!!

Dude, that left-most guy has the most awesome pose I've seen in a looooong while. The use of helmet, arch of sword. Perfection. Really a sweet model man, wow. I love the others too, but the guy on the left just stands out to me. Superb modeling work!

Sorry to double post here.

I could really use some feedback from the forum on a project that is part of my CoC vow. I appreciate any and all feedback on this post in my WIP. Don't shy away from being critical, just let me have it! Thanks for looking guys and gals :tu:

Always keep them wanting more ;)

I have made some actual progress! I managed to get two coats onto my GuOs, Rhinox Hide base and then an Averland Sunset drybrush... before starting to do all the initial detailing in Screaming Skull! I will get some photos up of this tomorrow of the stages, going to start some washing and more detailing sharpish, as well as working further on the skin. Quite happy with the way in which they're shaping up though.

Who ever thought I'd be batch painting three of these?!

Right, so here's where I am currently at after yesterday's work!

Starter with a Rhinox Hide base, getting in everywhere fleshy:

Proceeded to then drybrush Averland Sunset -trying get that tone and depth between the recessed areas, and make it look similar to elephant skin, wherever possible:

Then, started to pick out all the flesh disturbances in Screaming Skull:

And all three had that done:

The next stage will see me start working on the issues with the flesh, before adding more depth to the rest of the model.

Good work so far mate - I'm interested to see how these turn out. Will you be painting them with differing eventual colour schemes?

I gotta ask though, purely out of friendly curiosity: *why* do you have three of these -admittedly awesome- models?

Thank you!

I'm guilty of thinking that I probably won't - I think there will be certain details and facets I do differently, but I wanted them to (on the whole) look pretty cohesive, and match with my yellow Plague Bearers. The yellow, inevitably, will get brighter- and then there will need to be a few different contrasts to truly make them pop. Oh, and more gore and pus, naturally.

I didn't set out to buy three... but you know when you see something and you want it, really badly? I'd had that craving for years - and in the space of a few months, I found them on eBay (two were bagged, brand new - unused projects), and the third was built as you can probably see. I think, cumulatively, I paid probably for three what you would for one new - all because of endless trawling and good fortune (including one where someone refused to pay and I was given a second chance!). It seemed only logical that one of the largest Death Guard/Nurgle armies around would have three of them... right? And, I really, really wanted to paint them. Might've been better to hold off for the ETL points wise, but I'm desperate :P

So a few WIP photos from today:

With the first one's flesh coat done:

And then together!

That seems like an acceptable reason! msn-wink.gif I can totally get behind the internet vibe, trying to get the best deal and then ending up spending more on multiple good deals than you would have buying one through the official channels biggrin.png

They're looking awesome so far! I must say I dig the brown undercoat with yellow drybrush technique. Might steal that someday. Also: that black tongue, although I suspect you're planning on painting it, looks kinda great in a disgustingly rotten kind of way. It contrasts nicely with the yellow and looks a little like this:

Or perhaps like the rot on grapes:

Also also: that flesh looks truly disgusting. I seriously had a slight stomach heave when I closely looked at them! :D :tu:

Hey Chaeron, are the pictures upside down?

They aren't - but oddly, my iPhone thinks they are too... weird...

That's what we're looking for! Hopefully, I've attained something similar. Very grateful for the reference pictures - it's hard to get it looking right sometimes. I'm optimistic it is looking good nonetheless.

So then, I started highlighting...

And adding gore:

Some assembly required:

Up close and personal:

I don't even know the collective noun for three Great Unclean Ones - suggestions welcome:

They all have quite questionable hygiene too:

late to the party?

I Nehekhare answer the Call of Chaos and vow to complete

the unholy number of 7 units:

1) Archmagos Draykavac/Heretek Magos

2) Iron Warriors (Chaos) Contemptor Dreadnought

3) 5 Chaos Terminators (Iron Warriors Tyrant Siege Terminators)

4) Apostate Preacher (Enforcer) of Nurgle

5) Chaos Lord (Gutrot Spume) bearing the Mark of Nurgle

6) Herald of Nurgle

7) Mamon, Daemon Prince of Nurgle

before January 15th 2015.

If I do this successfully I will receive the Mark of Pustulant Glory and continue on the path to ruin.

If I fail I’ll wear the Mark of the Lost and I expect no mercy on my soul!
