Horus Lupercal - Favourite Quotes

Hey there - I've used the forum search but without much success I've also attempted to navigate through the intra web for quote but found next to nothing.

Hoping everyone can add their favourite quote from Horus Lupercal or direct me where I might find some!

Cheers

"Strange is it not, that so many I wish beside me stand against me, while at my back are only the flawed and damaged. I am a master of broken monsters."

and

"It does not matter how the galaxy burns, only that it does. Warmaster - that is what it means, my brother. The strength to do what must be done."

Both from Warmaster by John French, a really good audio short.

My favorite thing of all the HH works is that audio. So gosh darn awesome

Maybe.

Not even the wiki's have anything to offer?

And I hesitate to add mine, simply because it's less about Horus and more directed to Sanguinius, my favorite canon Primarch.

Is that the "it should have been his" mini monologue? Because that is a goddamn beautiful piece, to be sure.

Oh yes, it is that line. Since you brought it up, I'll go ahead and post it. At least, I hope this is the proper piece because I don't have the correct book, unfortunately.

“Sanguinius. It should have been him. He has the vision and strength to carry us to victory, and the wisdom to rule once victory is won. For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father within us, whether it is his hunger for battle, his psychic talent or his determination to succeed. Sanguinius holds it all. It should have been his...” -- The Warmaster Horus

Even though the book itself was so-so, I really like this bit from Fear to Tread:

Horus gave a rueful nod and drew his sword, a massive blade of oiled steel and adamantium. "You will try," he said. "But today you face the Emperor's sons and his warriors. We are the Luna Wolves, and this Legion is the anvil upon which you will be broken."
From high overhead there was a low crackle and a sound like distant thunder as sonic booms from the upper atmosphere reached the desert floor.
"We are the anvil," Horus repeated, pointing with his sword.... "Now behold the hammer."

As well as everything above, I did love the part in Vengeful Spirit where Horus tells it how it is to the Red Angel in his own realm:

"Daemons never die," it said.

"No, but they do get incredibly tiresome," said Horus, reaching up to wrap his hand around the Red Angel's throat. He lifted it from the ground and squeezed. It spat black ichor and the fire in its eyes blazed.

"Release me!" it roared, clawing at his arms. Blood welled from the cuts and splashed the mirror-black flagstones. Black veins of disintegrating blood vessels spread down Horus's arm at the daemon's touch. He felt the internal mechanisms of his body decaying, but only crushed the daemon's neck harder.

"You will die for this!" spat the daemon.

"One day perhaps," said Horus. "But not today. You weren't sent here to kill me."

Horus nodded to the vast citadels in the mountains. "You're here to guide me. Your masters need me, so take me to their fortresses, speak my name and tell them the galaxy's new master would treat with them."

The Warmaster took centre stage, Worldbreaker and his talon raised high. The Deathbringer Warlord Titans loosed deafening blasts from their warhorns and the thousands of legionaries pumped their fists in the air at the sight of Lupercal.

‘From a world of darkness, I did bind daemons and death-doers in the form of wolves.’

Horus swept his maul down and night became day as the Reaver Titans surrounding Avadon opened fire with every one of their weapon systems. They rained down a continuous barrage of lasers, rockets and plasma until the city and all living things within were consumed in a fiery holocaust.

Vox-links broadcast the Warmaster’s voice through the horns of the Titans, and his pronouncement shook Noctua’s bones.

‘So perish all who stand against me.'

"Please, shut up. Please, just shut the hell up."

Interesting choice.

That's like my most hated line I can recall of the top of my head. I thought it was super juvenile.

That may be the point. Of all the primarchs, Horus's insecurities led to the most damage.

Personally I really like that one because, like several others, I think it shows Horus' feelings towards Chaos being different to what you might expect. He's not some devoted follower or worshipper, he doesn't accept them as his masters, he takes a more pragmatic view of them as allies against the Emperor. His civil war isn't about basking in the glory of Chaos, it's about overcoming his father, and rather than let himself be awed by the dark gods, he sees how they can be useful to him in this. He's not just replacing one master with another. I like that.
