Here's a pair of sideviews for the Lifeguard, as the Chapter Master's chief bodyguard is known. Lookit that shiny sword, kindly donated from the local detachment of the Blud Magpies I meant of course the most honourable innocent-of-all-charges Blood Ravens.

On a more serious note, the GK termie arm I 'appropriated' from a box of spares I had had a lovely slot in it for a storm bolter, but sadly I'd used them all up. Instead, a bolt pistol was cut up and the magazine removed and placed into the slot, and I glued the magazine onto the side. I like to think it looks okay.

Last but not least, the Chapter's Chief Apothecary takes to the field alongside his liege so that he can improve his knowledge and skills, presumably in how best to fillet a Tyranid.

As with my Chaos army, I'm updating here with a list of what needs to be done;

Stripping;

5x Assault Terminators

1x Dreadnought

25x Tactical Marines

5x Devastators

1x Command Squad

1x Captain

1x Emperor's Champion

Undercoating;

1x Dreadnought

1x Captain

10x Tactical Marines

Painting;

1x Chapter Master + Terminator Command Squad

In the process I've realised I've made a few foul-ups with the intention behind the Imperators Gladii, such as giving them a squad of Assault Marines, or my frankly ridiculous effort at making my own Chaplain model, so they'll be stripped and assigned to one of the other loyalist projects I'm working on.

You seem to know where you want to take the army-- if I can offer some constructive criticism, it's that storm bolters (and bolters in general) look better if the barrels are drilled out.  Also, I really don't think the bolt pistol conversion works for the champion terminator.  If you get a box of the new sternguard at some point, just use one of their stormbolters, or carefully combine 2 bolters together for an archaic twin linked bolter/early storm bolter look.

Will this be a purely footslogging army? Drop pods? Transports?  Any subtle changes you're planning on to the models you are currently stripping?

Footslogging for the most part, maybe one or two vehicles but I'm not decided on that yet since I want one of my other Marine armies to be vehicle-heavy. In the case of stripping the models I listed above, it's just to repaint them properly (I never realised before just how badly black armour looks with no highlight.)

I've so far avoided doing anything like drilling out barrels because I don't have a pin vice, but getting more bits like that in the future is a priority, as is that shiny Stenguard box. biggrin.png

Came up with three possible replacement colour schemes for the chapter as well as new names and done some quick test runs on some snap-fit marines I had. (Not my best work, but it'll do)

This one is for the Crimson Shades. I've got a rear-view, but that just shows the backpack is entirely Bestial Brown. The Red Gore is a bit of a swine to get to coat it properly, the model in the picture had had two coats by then. Foundry's Russian Gun Apple Green 110B served for the shoulder trim since I had no other greens than a Dark Green ink, and Ice Blue for the eyes, which is something I've not considered on any colour scheme I've done before.

Now updated with some cleaning on the model, as well as a rushed attempt at highlighting.

This one is for the Repentant Swords. Kommando Khaki on one side, Shadow Grey on the other. Decoration is intended to be Brazen Brass or similar.

As with above, updated since I cleaned it up a little, tried to neaten out the area where the two halves meet and so on. Trim is same as that on the Crimson Shade scheme above.

Edited to remove unneeded images.

And here's a Librarian for the army whenever I finally choose a scheme. Foundry's Bronze Barrel 103B for the sword, Citadel Foundation Macharius Solar Orange for the highlighting of the tracery on the blade, Bestial Brown for the book and skin, Kommando Khaki for the skulls, book pages, purity seal and the scroll on the left leg. Crimson Gore for the robe, Blood Red for highlighting the edges. Ultramarine Blue for the armour.

Librarian's nearly done. Some more tidying on the model, as well as doing the base and the first model of the newly christened Crimson WatchersA will be ready for action!

I've decided on using an eye as their badge, but I can't free-hand one that well, so I'm thinking of using the Black Legion ones and just trimming the spikes off it. Other than that, work proceeds on a tactical squad (Pictures of those tomorrow)
