I kinda wanted an aggressive, assault feel that fits with the Blood Angels MO, but that also shows their tactical aptitude and rapid reactionary abilities. Slips Posted October 19, 2014 Share Posted October 19, 2014 Something to consider with Tac Vets is which special rule you'll be using. For Example : 10 Tac Vets with 2 Heavy Bolters on Suspensor Webs (makes the Heavy rule Assault but halves the range in a weapons profile if desired) and the Sniper Rule can provide some really nasty Psuedo-Rending through Weight of Fire. For the Preator, why a Jump Pack? Him being the only one to put its movement benefits to good use seems like a waste since he'll either never make use of it when stuck to another unit or be singled out when he does. At which point he becomes a pretty hefty loss of points. Since he has the Jump Pack, he also counts as Bulky (right?) and couldn't fit inside the LR Phobos with 9 Tac Vets if that was the case, as the Phobos is 10 slots. Slips Posted October 19, 2014 Share Posted October 19, 2014 Did you consider Outflank? An outflanking Land Raider could be pretty deadly. Also, if you're running them stock I think its a Bit of a Wasted Potential since they are a pretty flexible unit, if you have the points. Another thing, did you consider a Consul over the Preator or are you using a Rite of War? If not, getting a Preator just for the Paragon Blade seems kinda wasteful, points wise. Brother Heinrich Posted October 19, 2014 Author Share Posted October 19, 2014 Yeah I liked the idea of str5 ap2 power blade carving up enemy hard units, I didn't know what else I could use for an assault unit seeing as most everything else comes in squad sizes of 10 so they won't fit in the raider with the Praetor. I'm not against using a centurion, but seeing as most of my opponents here are running nasty HQ's I wanted someone who could lay the smack down in CC. depthcharge12 Posted October 19, 2014 Share Posted October 19, 2014 I'd go as far to drop the vets in favor of some terminators. I know you can't do it with a regular squad to fit in the raider, but do a 4 man command squad. Just give them all terminator armor so that they have power weapons base, an invulnerable save, and fearless with the banner to boot. According to the new red HH book, any legion without rules can take stubborn or furious charge, so taking the latter is pretty obvious - and is the force wide :) That will also leave you with an additional 5 points. I'd even suggest dropping the missile squad for a Sicaran battle tank as it can put out more deadly firepower, and fits with the mechanized list. I chose to keep the veteran Tacticals as I like having 9 guys with three attacks a piece, rather than 4 Terminators with only 2 Attacks a piece for the same price. I gave the Landraider an auxiliary drive as well just to make sure it gets where it needs to go. Also no worries about the armored ceramite, no one here plays 30k (to my knowledge) unfortunately :( If any of my friends do eventually build Heresy armies then I'll probably switch it up a little. Hard to go back to box dreads after getting a few of them.
