++The following is an excerpt taken from an interview with Astartes Sergeant Aeneas and Interrogator Buria ++

++Inquisition Eyes Only++

Buria: Sergeant Aeneas, you are a member of the Shattered Suns yes? A member of the 5th company I am led to believe?

Aeneas: Yes Interrogator, I am indeed.

Buria: Do you know why you are here? Any idea whatsoever?

Aeneas: I can suspect on that account.

Buria: Can you?

Aeneas: Yes. I suspect I am here because, like the rest of my Chapter, we are one of the few living individuals to have survived against the skrið dauða. Or mostly survived. You and I both know most did not, either in that first, bloody encounter, or the wars after.

Buria: That is correct. They are alleged to be operating in Conjuction with Abaddon, and the Imperial Inquisition believes the Shattered Suns are one of our greatest resources.

Aeneas: Only took you 200 years, but I see how it is. We'd be going after them in any case inquisitor, I suspect a bit of help may be appreciated. But let me start from the beginning.

Aftui`

200 years earlier

Hab Spire 7/Level 425(Underhive)

Squad Aesychlus had found itself in the Underhive, defending besieged citizens from the monsters that roamed the streets, the cultists in rags, and other...things. Aeneas snapped off a three round burst, the bolt shells detonating in the Plague Ogryns rotting gut, spewing a slurry of offal onto the cobblestone. Another two humans staggered out of the fog, one bearing an antiquated las weapon, the other a rusty cleaver. Both men charged him, but Aeneas deigned to waste holy ammunition on these dregs and simply crushed them beneath his boot. He turned to Cambrius, one hand shielding a child, the other firing with a bolt pistol.

"Brother! Are you well?"

Cambrius nodded, the grilled face plate presenting a bleak visage to the world. His bolt pistol roared again, and Aeneas heard rather than saw the fury of whatever his Brother had hit. The ground rumbled as it approached the putrid fog obscuring anything but the shape, a hulking thing with large shoulders and a hunched form.Aeneas felt his heart sink. Terminators... His head snapped as an autorifle round impacted and he turned, firing on the knot of cultists eho were attempting to bracket him with Heavy Stubber fire. A warning pulsated in his visor.

Low Munitions

Low Munitions

SEEK RESUPPLY

"Brothers! I am low on munitions! Anyone have any spares?"

Wuldrad passed him two more magazines, and Aeneas expended the spent one, his bolter steaming. The other Astartes nodded once before moving past him, plasma weapon juddering in his hands, eager to release the Sun. The gorund shuddered again, and Wuldrad let out a roar, one finger pointing to the target. Aeneas turned and saw his guess was right. Two Chaos terminators were striding forward, their once crimson armor now faded, the leering Daemon skull marking their Allegiance to the XVII. One bore two crackling claws, the tips twitching, while the other had a power fist and combi bolter.

Aesychlus came on the vox, "Terminators. Wuldrad, Aeneas, take the one with the fist! Ovidio, on me! Cambrius, let none pass!"

"Affirmative."

Wuldrad began a steady streamy of plasma, the bolts melting and penetrating into the rancid flesh of the Word Bearer, who simply growled.  Aeneas began to fire on the joints, ceramite exploding with loud pops. Both astartes kept firing as the beast began to slow, and Wuldrad bellowed as the combi bolter caught him in the shins, knocking him to one knee. Aeneas ripped two grenades from his belt, priming them both as he did it and let fly. He dragged Wuldrad away as the terminator exploded, the damage far to much to bear.

He heard a grunt and saw Ovidio go down, one arm spinning away, the other clutching at his neck, blood gouting in a stready flow.  Aesychlus was a viper, moving two quickly to be hit, the power sword finding chinks in armor and severing servo muscle bundles. Cambrius had already grabbed Ovidio, but paused when he saw the sergeant knock away a clw and ramming his sword under the chin of the Traitor, the glowing blade coming out of the tusked helm. He staggered away, and Aeneas caught him as he stumbled, noting the damage to his Sergeants chest, the black aquila marred, and the blood leaking from 4 punctures. The 5 marines managed to get into the open shelter, hoping the other half of the squad was more successful in sabotaging the bridge three levels down.

Sergeant Aesychlus, 'Immortalis' Mortis Thane of the 5th

Sergeant Aesychlus is a 350 year veteran of the Shattered Suns. One of the few marines who has not only served in the Deathwatch, but also the Ultramarines Honor Company. A stoic man, Aesychlus is perhaps best known for surviving aboard the Space Hulk Temerity for 25 days alone after the rest of his squad fell during the operation, completing their mission and disabling the vessels warp drive. The Sergeant is also the Mortis Thane of the 5th, analogous to the most Veteran Sergeant of a company, but is also for recording and noting the deaths of any member who falls. He wielded a relic of the Horus Heresy, the bolter 'fráfall'. Aesychlus would fall 55 years after Aftui` battling the Marine Malevolent over supplies.

Brother Ovidio 'Thrice Blessed' Hero of Agamar

Aguston Ovidio. A name to be remembered for the ages. Ovidio was a loyal to a fault never willing to give one step, always willing to go one more.  His nickname stems from the fact he three times walked away from a battle that should have seen him dead. The first was after Ascension against the Xenos Eldar. Ovidio found himself attacked by the Female Warrior caste, and managed to slay 3 singlehandedly, holding the 9th companies flank and ensuring support was there for the final push. The second was during a battle with the Orks, Ovidio using his bolter to bludgeon a Nob to death, demoralizing the Ork forces. The third time, Ovidio slew a Chaos Champion, breaking his spine upon his knee. His title of 'Hero of Agamar' was awarded posthumously. He was killed allowing civilians to evacuate from the Tyranids, his body never recovered.

Specialist Wuldrad 'Sem Brenna ein'(Low Gothic:The Burned one)

Wuldrad is of Duna descent like much of the chapter, his savagery tempered by the harsh training regime of the Suns. Wuldrad wields the Plasma gun of Primus for 75 years and has recorded over 100  vehicle kills, and 500+ elite infantry. Wuldrad is the rock of Primus, a solid foundation upon which the squad depends. It is often noted Wuldrad rarely speaks, this due to the fact his lower jaw and vocal cords are poor augmetic replacements from a time his plasma gun erupted in battle.

Brother Cambrius 'Sá sem trúir' (He who believes)

A man of great Faith and Kindness, Cambrius is the epitome of a Shattered Sun, willing to sacrifice himself for the good of the people. Cambrius is rare amongst the Adeptus Astartes, as he truly believes in the God Emperor, and wears strips of Parchment bearing prayers and benedictions. Often mocked by Ragnas, Cambrius is the soul of Primus, and would keep them grounded in the disaster after Aftui`. Eventually even Ragnas would grow to respect the quiet, but honest man, who upon occasion would give children small pieces of chocolate, and wear flowers gifted to him into battle.

15400757758_d7b99fcf64_z.jpgBrother Aeneas by vazzy2012, on Flickr

Brother Aeneas 'The Marksmen'

Born into the Rogue Trader house Sardu, Aeneas was selected by the Shattered Suns during one of their many visits to the fleet. Even as an aspirant he demonstrated an affinity for ballistic weapons, outscoring any other aspirant in his class. Gifted with an multiple marksmen badges Aeneas has disdain for their display, and it is rumoured he has used the shells in his Bolter. Truly, Aeneas preferred to be unremarkable, allowing his actions to speak. Granted his one concession to vanity is his wearing of the Halo of a Hero, a relic from Talassar, alleged to be worn by Luciel Fidelitas himslef. Aeneas would take over Primus after the death of Aesychlus, taking upon the mantle of leadership.

Looks good.

Some "interesting" colors and name there.

Was the Word Bearer's attack perhaps a little personal?

Perhaps, there's a reason they're the shattered Suns

Cool split scheme marines, bro!

Thanks man. Your Marines Errant were actually a big inspiration!

"All things die, my brother, even stars go out..."

-Unknown Dramaturge M.3

"My brothers,we stand before the precipice, and I suspect we shall fall, though it will be glorious death."

-Arno Tregilis, Chapter Master of the Shattered Suns to members of the First Company before leading the ill fated attack on XVII legion assets

Buria: So you directly served during the first encounter?

Aeneas: Of course. I served with Squad Aesychlus under Captain Xerduis. I was fresh from the Deathwatch and had joined the fleet right after we'd heard the distress beacon.

Buria: I am led to believe that Chapter Master Tregillis thought that Allant was in charge of the attack?

Aeneas: Yes. The Ruined King would answer for his crimes, but it would not be that day. Our full chapter was committed, and that was when the trap was sprung. We'd only detected low levels of activity, but quickly found ourselves being overwhelmed. As you know, Tregilis died aboard the enemy flagship, with over 95% of the 1st and 2nd Company. The only reason some of the First Company even survived was because Aurelius ordered a retreat after Tregilis fell and the ship began to self destruct, and even then, we only found him and Hastati through sheer luck.

Buria: And the rest of the Chapter?

Aeneas: Most of the fleet had been mangled by the Ambush, and interceptors were hitting many of our gunships. Much of the Chapter was unable to make it to their extraction zones or refused to leave behind civilians we had managed to save. This is how much of the 3rd Company was lost. They attempted to save the civilians they'd recovered, only to be overrun by Daemons and heavy armor. We heard them die over the vox, their standard bearer the last standing. We saw him crucified on a predator later in the war. Xertius had ordered the fifth to make our way back to the extraction zones after we'd realized what had happened. We still lost over 40% of our troops, with 75% loss of armored assets. Mnay of the other companies were far less lucky.

Buria: And yet, the Shattered Suns still live.

Aeneas: Yes. But I still have to tell you how we died

Hello brothers, sorry for the wall of text. I am currently in Spain, so no models, but I want to tell this story and have y'all help develop it with me. Hopefully no one minds too much, as I will have "some" progress and pictures this week, including structure and Dramatis Personae. Thanks for looking!

+++Interrogator Log+++

I have reviewed the case of the Shattered Suns heavily the past few weeks under order of Lady Glaber, and have started interviews with selected warriors of the Chapter. I was interested to note that Lady Artemis has been involved with the Suns for close to 200 years now, somewhat surprising considering she looks to be 40 at most. I suspect there is more to this than meets the eye, though I have been warned by my peers to expect little from the Lady, as she keeps her secret close to her chest. I must admit, I do not understand the fascination with this Astartes chapter, nor my Lady's tie to them. According to Inquisitorial records, Lady Glaber is a descendent of the Glaber Rogue Trader house, who served with the XIIIth during the Heresy. I suppose it matters not, though it perhaps explains the life guard she bears(A story for another time I think.) I currently have focused on Hasik Aticles, Chapter Master and former First Captain of the Shattered Suns. One of the only survivors of the orbital battle, Hasik, alongside with elements from the 5th company and support elements would rebuild the chapter, though this is just coming to fruition now. The story of Hasik will be next in the chronicles, and I have attached picts of him for reference(Note picts are blurred due to poor camera work. Image scrubbing is working to fix this issue).

“You wish to speak of Aftui? Of course you do. That’s all they ever wish to hear of. Very well, If you’re interviewing those of us who have been there though, the story is very similar between all of us.”

-Mortis Thane of 5th Company Dax Hitchrus

“I once called you brother, and yet here you stand, the blood of my oldest friend on your hands. I trusted you, and you spat upon it, using it to betray everything we once stood for. Allant, I deem you Heretic, and oathbreaker, and on my life, I swear I shall hunt you to the ends of the galaxy.

-Luciel Fidelitas, Hammer of Talassar, Founder of the Shattered Suns

Hive Spire 37// Level 876

T
he five Shattered Suns moved through the broken streets, dark mud, las burns and the thin blood of mortals coating the silver and crimson of their armor. At their front was Sergeant Hitchrus, leader of the third squad, Fifth company. In one hand, he held a battered chainsword, the blade coated in a thick layer of gore, the other bearing a combi-grav, the flux engine humming with a barely restrained violence. His helm had a row of studs across the brow, the clear blue lenses sweeping the shadows, ever alert to danger.Third Squad had been deployed to destabilize Spire 37 in a bid to allow the 5th and 6th companies some breathing room to consolidate a perimeter and push further into the city, but so far had encountered little resistance.

Hitchrus and his combat squad kept moving through the rubble, the shattered corpses of lower spire nobles and their retainers littering the streets, often missing teeth, ears, or more commonly the entire head.  Over the inter-squad vox, he heard Aulus growl in disgust.

“Calm yourself brother. Focus on the mission. It bothers me just as-“

His voice was cut off by a squelch of static and white noise, followed by the panicked yells of another Astartes.

“ All Units! All Units! This is Ca-in Ati-es! Cha-er -ter Vidalas is -ad, along with Recl-rch Y’trag. All un- fall back to design-ted points.”

Rapid boltgun fire and a daemonic laugh cutoff the rest of the message, and in the sky, a new star formed, the light casting out the shadows that had dominated the Hive Spire. Hitchrus paused; mind desperately trying to process the news he had just heard. Unfortunately, the XVII had little desire to allow him such a luxury, and without warning boltgun fire began to pour into his squad, Aulus collapsing to his knees. The veteran’s chest was a wreck of armor and gore, and the high-pitched drone of a flatline began to wail in his ears.

“Ambush! Find cover!” He bellowed, firing a burst of bolter fire towards the nearest muzzle flare. He turned to move after the rest of his squad, only to stumble as a ricochet slammed into his helm, knocking the systems completely offline. He ripped the damaged piece of equipment from his head, face bared in a snarl. His bolter roared at a Word Bearer charging at him, the grav component letting a deep whump as the Astarte splattered across his face and armor, crushed by the sudden change in pressure. Over the vox, he heard a multitude of voices, all running over another.

“Aesychlus here! 5th is falling back, be advised, civilians are with us. Requesting-“

“-Marius, 3rd company! We’re being overrun! Watch the flank!”

“All 5th members! Xertius here! Fall back! FALL BACK. Domin, left! Back Daemon spawn!”

“Bring us around Helmsmen! Ahh Frak! This is In at Death, we’ve been boarded! Drives going critical. COURAGE AND HONOR!”

[Hitchrus would go on to fight in every battle of the Second Shadow War, which is still ongoing as of this writing]

As the Sun’s First company fought its way through the hulk, each squad slowly found themselves being cut off from the other, once simple hallways twisting into labyrinthine mazes, Squad by squad, the vox fell quiet, whether due to enemy jamming or death is still unknown. Chapter Master Vidalas and his bodyguard found them cut off from the rest of the chapter. As his body was never recovered, we can only extrapolate what happened deep in the bowels of the Implacable Heirophant. Based off the broken vox signals and the testimonies of the First Captain, Chapter Champion, and Chief Librarian, we can begin to piece together the death of a hero of the Imperium.

According to Champion Hyenadae, his was left behind after a deamon took both his arms, leaving him crippled. He reports that Vidalas promised to return with the bastard Kravex’s head, or he wouldn’t return at all. In interviews, it is clear it hangs on the champion’s head, and his heroism later is directly attributed to his self-hate and shame. It is likely that when Vidalas entered the chamber, Kravex, or perhaps a simulacrum of Kravex met him. Chief Librarian Tsoltus reports that at the time Aticles reported Vidalas’s last transmission, huge surge of Warp energy swept through the vessel.  It is this author’s belief that Vidalas was used as a sacrifice to spur the destruction of Aftui and the resulting solar explosions that ravaged the neighboring systems.

Aticles noted that approximately eight hours, eight minutes and eight seconds is when Vidalas’s final cry cut across the vox, screaming of, “A broken crown, a ruined king, lacking an eye, he is familiar yet not!”  Chapter records as well as Inquisitorial accounts belief this a reference to Allant, the Ruined King, but both claim he was slain by the Chapter some three millennia prior. As we all know, both accounts were incorrect in this statement, and would lead to the reignition of the blood feud begun almost 10,000 years before at an unnamed world in Ultramar. It would also lead to the near death of Lady Glaber and our retinue at the hands of opposing elements of His Holy Inquisition.

@Noctus- Thanks man! I'm glad you like him. In my opinion he looked better in person.

This Sergeant that you posted is lovely: the weathering and the rest of the paint job is on point. :tu:

The fluff is... intriguing. I've only skimmed it so far, but I'm guessing that the Shattered Suns are intended to be Ultramarine successors formed from the Calth survivors? I'll make sure to give it a closer read later on.

Thanks a ton! I'm really proud of how he came out. I won't lie, there are hints throughout this log, as well as my Ultramarine log that will make it clear what's going on. The more I post here the more background will begin to appear and a clearer picture will form! Thanks again for looking!

Always love it when the Ruined King gets mentioned. :D

I really must say, dude. I am loving what you've done with these models. I remember when we first met up a couple years ago with your Ultras. During that time we both had a lot to learn about proper painting. It's really awesome to see from where you were then to how far you've come now as both a painter and a writer. Keep on trucking, my friend. You do your Ultramarines proud.

10 Years before Aftuí

Battle Barge Libertas Reginam

The Astartes stood before the girl, his armored bulk dwarfing her silk clad body. Sh stood away from him, body juddering spastically, limbings contorting in an unnatural position. She breaths heavily, chest heaving, body writhing in an almost...erotic fashion. Her attendants stand away from her, a servitor recording the vomit of words from her mouth. She jerks again, neck snapping rigidly, and a green smoke begins to pour from her body, clouding the room,  and causing hoarfrost to form on the bulky Cataphractii armor. She turns slowly, eyes vacant, pupils almost completely dilated, giving the impression of soulless black eyes. Auburn hair covers her face, and her high cheek bones are tattooed with tear drops. Her voice, normally a light, airy thing, rasps out, like sandpaper across the skin. The voice is cold, emotionless, and he can almost here the reverb in her voice.

"The Sun Shatters! A King lies upon his shield! The broken crown atop Death himself, blinded in one eye! Death Laughs! WARE AFTUIÍ! Ware treachery in the Heavens! The sons repeat the mistakes of the Father!"

Arianna, 200th of her name, leers at the Librarian before her. Her voices drops several decibels, and he hears the laughter of unseen throats all around him. The psychic pressure is immense in the room, but he does not allow himself to be baited into replying in kind.

"Death Comes For You. Will You Triumph? Or Will You Fall?"

She collapses with a weak sigh, and lays still, unmoving. The fog slowly dissipates, and the temperature readings slowly climb back to desired levels. The girls blink her clear blue eyes at the warrior before her and smiles.

"Tsoltus! Have you been here long? Is everything alright? You look concerned!"

Tsoltus shakes his head smiling wryly, scratching at a cord connecting his scalp to his psychic hood.

"Not long Dear Arianna. Not long at all. As a matter a fact, I was just leaving."

She nods slowly, not quite believing him, but knowing better than to argue. He nods once before exiting, leaving her alone with her attendants. She looks to her consort, and he smiles at her, though his face looks slightly ashen. He is tall, and built like one of her Astartes protectors, which is fitting, considering he was to be one of them before implant failure. His face has a roguish look to it, all long hair and severe cheeks highlighting dark green eyes, like emeralds. He wears carapace plate and a gladius lies on one hip, a scatter gun across his back. He is Xertius's serf, and her closest friend since childhood.

"Was it bad Tomas? Worse than usual?"

He nods, sorrow and concern wracking his face, and Arianna, Seer of the Shattered Suns, begins to weep, collapsing to her knees.

[Inquisition Eyes Only]

[VERMILLION LEVEL CLEARANCE]

[Welcome, Interrogator xxxxxx]

[Thought of the Day: A moment of Laxity Spawns a Lifetime of Heresy]

As the Shattered Suns fell back on Aftuí, unbeknownst to them, the Inquisition had already begun operations in the sector, with Lady Glaber following up on a lead regarding Heretic Cult activity on Terpalon. Unfortunately for her, and for the Shattered Suns, it would be far, far too late, with the cult being a fringe group that led to little payoff. Also under her command were Kill Teams Ragnarok, and Argentum, 20 members of the Emperor’s Holy Deathwatch. Ostensibly there as a countermeasure to the growing Genestealer cult presence in the sector, it is believed that Glaber had them as a silent favor from members within the Ordo Xenos regarding the Theta-1 Relay Incident. In any case, these would be powerful players in the coming campaign, though with Ruined King’s own inquisitorial allies in play, a dangerous game of cat and mouse would be played throughout the sector, leading to climactic battle that would see an entire planet put to the sword.

Lady Artemis was something of an odd duck when it came to Inquisitors I always felt, at least regarding my interactions with her compared to other Inquisitors. A member of the Ordo Hereticus, as well as a member of the Ordo Astartes, she was born into the noble house of Glaber as the 5th child, and the only female out of twelve children. As such, she would receive next to nothing in inheritance, and her father had initially expected her to simply be a bargaining chip in trade deals. Aretmis had other plans, and when Inquisitor Dostoevsky came as an honored guest  she left aboard his vessel. She was 14 at the time, and quickly became to be his prized pupil, and in some circle it is whispered, his lover. Whether these rumors have any truth matter not, as Lady Glaber quickly rose to the rank of Interrogator, and was a renowned pilot, whose minor psychic abilities amplified her already lightning reflexes. At 30, she was granted full inquisitorial status, as well of the gift of a light frigate by her Father, nicknamed ‘Machina ex Volantis’. This would also lead to her being joined by an honor guard of the Shattered Suns, who sent 10 marines as a life debt to the Glaber family every 100 years. They would be stalwart allies to her, and she became a close friend of then Librarian Tsoltus.  120 years later, and under much changed circumstances the two would meet again in the Council of Gratom.

Hot damn, we're on our way to progress. Loving the way the Deathwatch marines are looking so far. They should look great with some color on!

Thanks man. I think I've finally gotten the technique down in regards to color. The Deathwatch were fun to build, though I think when I get another set I'm going to blu tac the heads.

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.
-Jay Eff Kay, Political Ideologue

"Space Marines show no fear. That is true. But they have honor, pride, and the knowledge that they are the bulwark of humanity. The fact that this may be challenged does not sit well with many of them. I fear this may lead down a path the Imperium has no desire to walk."

-Inquisitor Glaber

The thick of combat was never the place for idle thoughts, at least, that is what I told Bran, the acolyte as we served together. This stemmed from him asking about my laughing as we found ourselves being overrun by the Ruined King's cultist horde, ragged mortals whose desire to spill blood matched my own desire to survive. I was a new member of 5th then, with Aftuï having been my first taste of war in a battle company. What happened there can only be called a disaster, and with the deaths that occurred, it's a miracle we survived at all. Bran died shortly after I met him, cut down as he attempted to hold off daemonic hounds who poured from the ground below us. I'll never forget his piercing shriek as he was ripped apart by three of the beasts. He was a mortal that deserved a better death than that.

Of course, I'm ignoring my own advice as I cut down the raving Word Bearer in front of me, my toothed blade eating through his dry flesh, gouts of oily black blood shooting forth and obscuring my corvus helm. Warning alarms chime as I'm knocked off balance by a flurry of boltshells, and I turn to see Septival taking the head of my attacker, his bare face glowering at me.

"Pay attention Nestus! You'll get us all killed with your lack of focus."

I nod, knowing my brother is correct. And yet, I still can't help but think about what we learned as we spilled forth into the former 500 Worlds: Guilliman yet lives! And he has a new breed of warrior with him to reinforce his sons!

We of course, have no idea if this is true. Chapter Master Aticles had sent an honor guard of the remaining chapters finest warriors to appraise these 'Primaris' marines, and see if they would become part of our blessed brotherhood. I growled as my helm display was cut with static. The techmarines had done their best to repair the damage the Marines Malevolent had done to my helmet, but it was a patch job, and needed a proper recalibration. Our ongoing war with the quasi-renegades had started over a tithe promised to us by Mechanicus representatives, which the whoresons had taken as their own, also gangboarding our escort sent to pick up the supplies. Since then, we'd been engaged in an escalating war against the bastards, while also fighting alongside them against the XVII legion. It gave me a headache, and I had no desire to treat with them again.

'Primaris'. The name sits uneasy in my mouth. They surely cannot truly be Space Marines. And I doubt they will measure up. I have no intentions of accepting them in any case. My brothers are here and now. ANyone who hasn't gone through the crucible of the Shattered Suns is no true brother of mine.No matter what Ancient Kolisniac finds, I shall not be one who welcomes them into the fold.

I step off the roof, the turbines on my back screaming blue fire, the pistol in my hand belching rounds into the enemy before me. I shouldn't think it, but I can't help myself.

If these Primaris marines are the future, Guilliman cares not for his sons, only success.

[Nestus was part of the "Old 400" the survivors of the ill fated Aftui battle and the wars that raged after. He along with the Shattered Suns main fleet would find themselves engaged on the Imperial side of the warp rift that split the Imperium.]

[The Shattered Suns would find themselves uneasy allies of the Marines Malevolent operating in the region, and the two chapter would come to blows multiple times during their war against XVII legion stragglers]

[Nestus was an outspoken opponent of the Primaris program despite the Chapters acceptance of the new warriors into their ranks. He argued their lack of experience and familiarity with Chapter culture would hamper their ability to operate with the rest of the brotherhood. His concerns were vindicated as the newly indoctrinated warriors took heavy casualties as inexperience and poor training regimes reaped a toll on the new recruits, as well as costing the lives of many of the warriors who attempted to ensure their success.]

Looking good, bro! Your models are starting to look a lot better. You need to work a bit more on your touch ups, cleaning your models up a bit, particularly around the rim of the base I'd say, and the weathering/chipping. But it's really noticeable how the paint work has improved!

Keep it up!

@Dos Thanks dude! I think seeing how a chapter living on the edge reacts to new blood will be interesting to write.

@Noctus

Appreciate it man. I'm debating on how to continue the weathering. I use a sponge technique on my fists and I think you and I can both agree it works better. The problem is I started the log weathering one way and I'm not sure the transition to a new technique won't clash with existing models.

You could try seeing about cleaning up the previous models and do the new weathering, if you're up for it. I've had to do that for some of my Word Bearers as I've slowly shifted to different basing and painting methods. You don't need to strip the whole model, jut a few touch ups.

That's true. I may just leave them and transition over to sponge weathering from here on out. Though the messiness of the model is kinda how I like it, I think the sponge technique gives a cleaner look if that makes sense?

Hey guys! Looking for an opinion on how to do my Captains Stormshield. I'm leaning towards the split scheme, but i was also thinking a marbled look potentially. I'm open to other schemes though!

And then, a bit of WIP on the Captain.
