cheap challenge: mechanicus

Hello there this is my first topic in this forum so I hope you like what you will find out!

I decided to challenge myself into building an army as big as I could with the lowest amout of money possible. AAAAND here's the result of the first few steps of my mechanicus army. I'd love to know what do you think about it!!

this used to be a magos biolog. for my inquisitor retinue, but he totally fits into the mechanicus project!!!

I like it a lot. You capture the freaky John Blanche feel of the early AdMech art (the brazier of burning skulls on the flamer is excellent).

It isn't necessary, but I'd like to see some piston-like stalker legs on that Magos. The Cairn Wraith base model looks so good, and then it just sort of peters out as the eye is drawn lower. Legs would help counter balance the guy and make it look more powerful and less wispy.

well, I kinda liked the idea of the magos "floating" around. I also prefer him not to be "powerful" but just odd and uncanny with all of his tubes and dendrites. in the end he is not a warrior but a scientist... I guess... xD

btw, here's some update from my last session of painting. since painting red on a black base is hell I decided to work on the metal first. beware: pics incoming!

I love the biologis. Makes me want to get another wraith as it'd tie in nicely with my tyranids and old stealer-cult.

OMG!!!! you are the one who built that mechanicus army with the titans made ot of sentinel pieces!!!! OH MY!!!!! I was totally inspnspired a lot by your minis man!!! i'm really glad you like my stuff, I totally love yours :)

minor update:

here's a new pic for you guys. I decided to make the red robe look more cold so I used ice blue and bleached bone with the lights. do you like the wa it looks? it still needs more shadows imho and the blending are not smooth enough, i'm gonna work on that.

so, I've been painting quite a lot this days and this is the outcome. the mega-tech-priest is almost done! it just needs some details :) I worked on the blending making them a little more soft and added a few shadows all around and I also painted the base! I was thinking about adding ice and snow to the base, what do you think about it?

When I read 'blue highlights on red' I thought you were mad. I tip my hat to you sir because it looks great. I'm especially pleased that you've made (part of) Nagash look good. I always hated that model. :tu:

since I was not satisfied with the look of the minis, I decided to take a step back, eliminate some excessively huge parts and replace them with something more likely to be actually working. Here's what came out. Next step is gonna be covering everything with robes, hoods and adding CANDLES!!!!!!

Oooo the winged ones are looking very nice indeed!

Also your bladed banner decoration looks spot on considering there's a mention of hook bladed banners in Gods of Mars which i'm about halfway through at the moment.
