Ideas for Robed Chaos Space Marines

Recommended Posts

Working on a project for my Word Bearers army, want to add some chosen and my idea was having the squad stick out by wearing black robes. I'm thinking holy warrior monks sort of look, but evil, with the most dedicated marines marked by robes. My first thought was using the Dark Angels veterans squad, just use the bodies and use chaos bits for the rest of the model, just ran into one issue-the imperial iconography on some of their torsos. Way I see it my two options are 1) hacking them off, using green stuff to fix up the robes-which I'm not very good with but maybe worth a try. 2) two of the torsos actually have no icons, but given I want 8-9 chosen that means buying a lot of veterans, and getting those bits of ebay usually gives you a random torso which eliminates that option. Could still do it, just more pricey.

So just wondering is there a better alternative I'm missing? Maybe some other robed marines out there that would work better. Also general ideas/pointers that you guys might think will make a cooler chosen unit are welcome.

IIRC Black-dagger is usually pretty reasonable when it comes to emailing them and asking how many of a specific random bit they have and ordering that.  You just have to include the comment in your order afterwards and email them again about it after ordering.

They're very good about that.

If you plan on doing a lot of detail shaving, consider a razor chisel designed for the job. I'm sure you can find them other places for the same (or better) prices, but the 4mm Plastic Modeler's Chisel that Micro Mark carries is a good example. I was getting some other items from MM a while back and tossed one of these into the order. I haven't used it much, but it's great for getting a really clean removal that doesn't gouge the surface if you are careful. Some future project ideas will no doubt make much more use of it.
