"No true Omnisiah would forbid the usage of such magnificent technology,

for knowledge left unused is knowledge wasted."

                                               -Adept Keziam

As an apprentice under High Adept Koriel Zeth Adept Keziam shared the same open minded views on the advancement of technology as his mistress. Ever hungry for information it was only right that Adept Keziam was assigned aboard an Astartes exploration fleet, one of the few employed by the VIII legion astartes. On their way to the Isstvan system for the event that later would be known as the dropsite massacre the fleet was lost in a warp storm. Thought lost forever the fleet was trapped for millennia, although for them mere years passed.

Upon returning to real space they found themselves amidst one of the large raiding party of the Dark Eldar. The astartes vessels put up a fight and at the end of the week long orbital battle only one vessel remained: the frigate "Nocturnal Dart". It's warp drives damaged and life support systems failing the frigate made planetfall that same day. On the surface they found what appeared to be the remnants of a pre-imperial civilization far more advanced than anything they had seen before. The wartorn form of the Nocturnal Dart was quickly transformed into a mobile forge while Adept Keziam travelled the surface the of the planet doing what he set out to do all those thousands of years ago: acquiring any and all information he deemed relevant. All the while experimenting upon what was left of the Nostraman crew. It wasn't until he found an ancient tome detailing the rituals and incantations necessary to bind a daemon to a mechanical form that his true destiny as one of the most notorious Hereteks in the galaxy became clear. Now he leads his mercenary warband from system to system in the pursuit of knowledge and technology.

So there you have it, I finally shake of the robes of the lurker and reveal my own creations to the forums that inspire me. Most of all I'd like to thank GuitaRasmus, without him this army might have never existed. Anyway, without further ado, I present you the warband of Heretek Adept Keziam!

http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq350/maar7en/40K/Dark%20mechanicus/Guardians4_zps56afd45c.png

First up is what remains of the crew, my count as guardians. Made from vampire lords ghouls and any bits I had. Most are as of yet unnamed and any funny nicknames will be considered.

http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq350/maar7en/40K/Dark%20mechanicus/Seers2_zpsd2bda6c9.png

The remaining astropaths and any roque psykers form my seer squad. These guys were made from empire flagelants with random bits added. They'll spend their time on the board slinging spells and summoning daemons.

http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq350/maar7en/40K/Dark%20mechanicus/Fireprism_zpsf69861d4.png

Next up, Adept Arif, riding the warband's pack mule/field artillery. Heavily inspired by GuitaRasmus' Helbrute but with even heavier weaponry. Still very WiP while I find a way to add the secondary weapon to the left side of the model.

http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq350/maar7en/40K/Dark%20mechanicus/wraithknight_zps6219e065.png

What happens when you build a shell large enough to house a greater daemon of Khorne? This thing happens. My count as wraithknight. Kitbashed from riptide legs, lord of skulls torso and what remained of the forgefiend body. Less proportionately challenged in real life and quite massive.

http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq350/maar7en/40K/Dark%20mechanicus/Spiritseer_zps5e54e356.png

Last but not least, the adept himself. A count as spiritseer. Not too different from the other seers other than a more static pose and a greater amount of detail. The staff still needs to be fixed but that's pretty much all I intend to do to him.

Not yet started is a count as Crimson Hunter, for which I have a few non-concrete ideas, and a bunch of Thallax to fill the role of wraithguard.

My current, but ever changing, list is:

HQ

Farseer

     Singing spear

Spiritseer

Troops

Guardian Defenders

     10 Guardians

     Heavy Weapons Platform

          Shuriken cannon

Guardian Defenders

     10 Guardians

     Heavy Weapons Platform

          Shuriken cannon

Wraithguard

      10 Wraithguard

      Wraithcannons

Wraithguard

      5 Wraithguard

      D-scythes

Fast Attack

Crimson Hunter

      Pulse Laser

      Two Bright Lances

Heavy Support

Fire Prism

     Prism cannon

     Twin-linked shuriken catapults

Wraithknight

     Suncannon

     Scattershield

     Scatterlaser

For 1500 points, but I will probably swap out the D-scythers for some more seers and some upgrades. Ah well we'll see.

So that's all there is to see now........

Just kidding, have a teaser pic for one of my side projects.

So I was all reading this. Nodding my head and thinking "Not bad, not bad. Not so sure about the big heads, but they're kinda just not my thing." Moving on, liking what I'm seeing, I'm thinking "Let's see some paint on these bad boys, but dude knows how to kit-bash with the best of them."

And then I click the spoiler pic: jawdrop.gif You beautiful son of a gun, you... You were holding out on us. That. Is. Magnificent.

The Dark Mechanicum stuff is wonderful. Really really great Heretek stuff. Really looking forward to them painted.

As for that last spoiler....

<Coolness overload, does not compute, scale of measurement exceeded, does not compute, maximum awe safety parameters violated, does not compute, buffer overloaded, sh- sh-  sh- shutting dooooown>

I agree with what everyone has said about your conversions so far. Fielding them as "Counts as Eldar" is a new and interesting idea. Most of the Mechanicum armies I've seen for 40K seem to be fielded as "Counts as Tau." I look forward to seeing what you've built so far getting some paint and more interesting conversions.

I missed the Knight in the spoiler tag the first time I read this topic. I'm glad that I checked back and got a good look at it now. I don't know what possessed you to build it but I'm seriously impressed with it. It reminds me of one of the old Warlord Titans with a devotional bell suspended over its hunched carapace and a special head that granted it psychic abilities. I sincerely hope that you are planning something along those lines for it. Especially if you are planning on putting a bell of some sort inside the structure on its back.

Quick Teaser before bed, but I worked on the knigHt a bit morE.(mostly jamming greenstuff in hideous gaps and then smoothing it out.) But also some little details to really make it stand out, not just from a distance, buT equally mucH up close. I wAnt it to Look Like A eXtremely ornate striding temple of doom, yet also look like it's actually being used. I've been inspired by Stole my ideas from the migHty Queen Bee knight. So expect to see some tools and supplies stAshed around the more mechanicaL bits of the knight. This shouLd create some moRe duality wIth both form and function equally repreSented but in differEnt areas.

I'm not entirely sure on the altar up front, the knight would accompany my future Night Lords so the entire skull and bones creepy theme would work quite well. I also have some of the leave detailing from a WHF set that would fit the sides of it rather nicely, so we'll see. Opinions appreciated.

P.S. I've hidden some clues to the next Dark Mech update, can you find them?

Not so fun fact, I ordered a screaming bell along with the rest of the bits and only the arch holding it arrived. I got a refund for the bell, but I can't really be bothered to scour bits sites for another one. There's also very little space left on the carapace for one. I will however stick some smaller bells inside the church-like structure on his back.

Looking great, i quite like the scroll added to the side of the blade of the reaper and will have to consider doing that myself.

As for the old Titan Bell, if i recall the old lore correctly the important part was that the bell was blessed with a tear of the Emperor, which falls only when a truly great hero of the Imperium had fallen in battle (the same ingredient used in every single psycannon round!) and the result was it's pealling increased Daemonic Instability rolls forcing Daemons in range to lose their grip on realspace and more easily be sent or slip back to the warp.

So the size of the bell is less important, small would do.

And if the knight has been corrupted it'd be just the kind of thing they'd swap out with a bell with an evil-effect.

What's that? An update, after all this time? A true martian miracle!

I have a good reason for all the radio silence: I moved 5 days after receiving the WONDERFUL dragonforge bases I ordered. But they're here now and the essentials have been unpacked and attached to each other.

First up an army shot with all the infantry that's currently assembled.(click for glorious megapixels.)

Now you may have spotted a few new additions and we'll get to those right now:

Two objective markers on either side of a little drone that will help fill up the fireprism's huge knight sized base.(there will be a lot of models on that base.)

Brightlance for the guardian squad. I'm really proud of how well this one came out.(it's actually on a 32 mm base which imho looks way better than the smaller 25 would have looked.)

And now for the real heroes of this post: The wraithguard stand-ins, 6 of 9 thallax.

Bug eye Prototype with equipped with multispectral cameras. Design worked well but was considered too complex.(Just look at that base!)

CUR-105 Experimental field Repair&Research unit given a small amount of free will and thought to investigate and catalogue discoveries. Prone to getting distracted by random trinkets. (I have been looking for a purpose for that bit for ages and now I've found it.)

"King-Fiend" Designed to relay commands to- and inspire nearby thralls with the speaker mounted in a commissar's skull. Some say the commissar's brain is still inside, it's messages now twisted by the heretek device it's attached to.

-Retracted- So far these three remain unnamed, open to suggestions.

And that's it for the Dark Mechanicum progress.

I remember having some other model........

Oh yeah him, let's show him too!

Knigthedral received some small details and a new balcony, I have a Volkmar the Grim on the way to stand on the little balcony and preach.

Interesting work so far, brother - but I do think if you're do a 'Knight-thedral', those shoulder pads need some Gothic-ification, imho. Y'know alcoves and shrine stuff. :)

CLEAR!

*zap*

IT LIVES!

Over dramatic nonsense aside, it's been a while since I updated this thread. At one point I finished a few units in one frantic session of hobbying for a battle the next day. Somehow I never posted pics of them....Or the units that came after them. So here they are!

http://i.imgur.com/xKsR3Xw.jpg

First up are the last 3 Thallax. Skulltaker, Slot, and Teeth. Slot takes his name from the Baneblade viewport that replaces his head.

http://i.imgur.com/MoT2EY2.jpg

Rangers. Just the basic skitarii with some eldar bits. I think a head from one of the walkers. You can also see where I ran out of 25mm dragonforge bases.

http://i.imgur.com/Ztds7kE.jpg

VERY dusty D-cannons.

http://i.imgur.com/HJyU3Bz.jpg

Dark Reapers. Really happy with how these dudes turned out. But not quite as glad as I was when I finally figured out how to build their Exarch:

http://i.imgur.com/HqBrnCd.jpg

I honestly love this model.

After that first I game I mentioned I realized that my Wraithguard needed a more effective delivery method than footslogging it across the board. So I thought up some dark eldar conversions so I could deepstrike them. Enter the court of the lightning king:

http://i.imgur.com/7xssBmn.jpg

The king himself. Fragile as hell but a really fun model.

http://i.imgur.com/EQTEqwD.jpg

Venom to transport a minimum size squad of guys to fill a troop choice.

You didn't think I was gonna leave you without some surprise in a spoiler tag, did you?

http://i.imgur.com/DBxd31s.jpg

Meet my Warp hunter, which has sadly gotten banned from the local GW. Despite conforming to the "More than X% GW parts" rule.

I have them for sale on Shapeways store if anyone is interested in having one for themselves to use as a count as krios battle tank/venator.

Wow, just read through your whole thread and you have some inspiring work! While the knight is cool I think that what really makes your army stand out is all your infantry and your attention to detail, it is truly amazing! I'm really liking this last batch of models, a shame they wont let you use the last one as a warp hunter... However, have you ever thought of using your mech models with mech rules? :P A lot of your stuff would fit there as something and it would be kind of more appropriate!

I've started a new blog a while ago for my 30K Sons of Horus. In large games the Thallax will be brought in next to a magos reductor and a minotaur.

I swear this isn't dead!

Been working on my SoH a lot recently.(relatively speaking) So progress here has been a bit slow, however I did order a castellax with darkfire cannon and an Arvus lighter that I'll convert with some Valkyrie skytalon parts. We've all envisioned how an Arvus would look carrying a castellax and now I'm going to do it. Other things in that order include a minotaur for when I want to play them as 30k ordo reductor.(Also, it's just a cool as hell model.)

Now on to the pictures of fancy plastic miniatures:

My cawl conversion is now fully assembled, got himself a base and has most of the GS work done. He'll be used as a magos ordinator(or reductor) with a MC photon thruster. (Armourbane, lance and S6 make for one terrifying weapon)

http://i.imgur.com/XQT2R3o.jpg

I also made a little evil lady who's going to sit on the Castellax's shoulder when I use them in 40k as Eldar, to represent a wraithseer. I'm going to magnetize both shoulders anyway to be able to have it hanging from the Arvus. Looking at this picture on my 25" monitor really makes me want to redo the chaindagger.http://i.imgur.com/K2zorkY.jpg
