10,000pt Imperials vs Eldar/Dark Eldar

Hoard of Hordes

The link below is to a video battle report of a 10,000 point pitched battle between Dark Angels, Grey Knights and Imperial Knights on one side and Eldar and Dark Eldar on the other. This was an epic game involving over 500 models. So epic, that we only got three turns completed in the two days we set aside for the game. Next time we'll use smaller forces and enlist some other players to help.

Putting the report together was great fun and we plan to do more of these - maybe one every two or three months. So if you like the video, please do hit the subscribe button so you don't miss our future efforts. Hope you enjoy the video.

I actually saw this one on Youtube, wondefully painted armies! Sad to not see any Titans or Superheavies, but what an epic game of straight up Codex armies killing each other!

Sad to see the Imperials take such a beating from the Xenos though!

Thanks very much for the positive feedback. Both of us are working on super heavies - a scorpion for the Eldar and a fell blade for the Dark Angels. The theory is that they should speed up the game by dishing out loads of firepower and taking loads of models off of the board.

As the xenos player I was quite happy with column of burning tanks that marked the imperial line. However, I think the position of the Imperial forces owed more to bad dice than anything else - to fire ten meltas at a wraith knight in the open with no save and get only one wound is terrible luck.

Very cool report, I really enjoyed it, and great job on the armies, they are truly a sight to behold! That Imperial luck really was awful, but I feel that holding the entire Ravenwing division and Grey Knight division in reserve was a crucial error in the stalemate, as it allowed the full power of the Eldar race to bear down on a relatively smaller Imperial force, hamstringing the Imperials before they could bring some of their serious firepower to bear. Overall, I can't wait for further reports, it looks like a lot of fun, great job!

Thank-you very much. I think that point about the Ravenwing is spot on. With reserving, I favour holding back virtually everything or reserving nothing. Slowly feeding an army piecemeal into a meat grinder has almost always led to a bad outcome in my experience.

Thanks for posting this!

I had actually found this on youtube a few weeks ago googling DA battle reports.

I'm glad to see you share it here on the B&C as well.

2 Amazing armies and I hope we see a rematch soon!
