Kill Team

We've talked of Kill Team a bit recently, Sentinels would definitely be a good addition to a list. As Fast Attack you could take a Scout or Armoured Sentinel squadron - each has their merits but for cost reasons it might be better to use Scout sentinels. It'd also probably be best to take a Veteran squad alongside them as the Platoon would soak up too many points, I don't have my codex to hand but I think you could get a couple of Sentinels in without having to make sacrifices on your infantry.

I was hoping to avoid using infantry actually. ^^; But it seems that there really is no way to get more than three sentinels in a Kill Team list. the closest I managed was using the Elysian list, which isn't really ideal either;

Drop Sentinel squadron (elites, 112 pts)

Sentinel

- Heavy Bolter

- Searchlight

Sentinel

- Heavy Flamer

- Searchlight

Tauros Squadron (fast attack, 85 pts)

Tauros Venator

- Twin-linked Lascannon

- Camo Netting

But, for the fluff I'm putting together, this is the best I can manage with the sentinels I want;

Troops

Veteran Squad

- Forward Sentries

- Sergeant with Bolter

- Sniper

- Sniper

- Missile Launcher

Fast Attack

Scout Sentinel squadron

- Autocannon

- Heavy Flamer

- Multilaser

The problem with Sentinels though is that the Opposing Heavy Weapon with Ignores Cover (Specialist) will probably blow it up quickly and you won't have many of them.

Off-topic though, a whole bunch of Sentinels (Area Weapons like Plasma, Flamers or Missiles, Relentless, Move Through Cover) in Zone Mortalis is awesome. They can hide behind a corner, then pop out, fire and wipe a Squad.

You must have at least 4 non-vehicle models in a Kill Team, so you'd need at a Veteran squad for a legal list. Squeezing three Sentinels in a list should enable you to do quite a bit, though you'd need to target threats quickly. This happens anyway, as single model units make for targeting special and heavy weapons easy.

What specialist skills are you thinking about? A re-roll on the ML team would be worthwhile for example.

Vehicles can't be Specialists either, which is a pain. Probably... Preferred Enemy on the Missile Team, Relentless on a Sniper Rifle, and Haywire on a regular Guardswoman.

Preferred Enemy rather than Master-crafted because it leaves the Weapon Specialist slot open, and with 2 attacks, the missile team is probably the best hand to hand fighter in the army who's not a vehicle.
