IA13's most impact for CSM

Recommended Posts

Which models in IA13 do you think has the most impact for CSM? I'm really thinking about getting my first forgeworld model... besides the obvious (sicaran, fire raptor, storm eagle, dread claw) Are there any other units that we now have access, that really fills a gap that is currently missing for CSM? Go ahead and expound on those I listed as obvious, but what about some of the other heavy support like the Basi's, or the Deimos predators...

The typhon is really damn good, but suffers from the super heavy sigma.

My guesses for most impactful in the long run are (in no particular order): Dreadclaw, Rapier (ecto, hades or conversion), Sicaran, Hell Blade and Fire Raptor.

The Dreadclaw won't be spammed, but will be delivery methods for an assault unit.

Renegades themselves are a whole other story. Massive amounts of cheap artillery and bolter fodder. Their rapier lasers and wyverns will be feared, there is no doubt about that.

For me it's the R&H that make the most impact. Lost and the Damned from the Eye of Terror campaign has always... always... been one of my favorite lists to make/play. So for me to be able to have the unwashed tide of filth backed up by the masters that don't care whether they live or die is a huge joy.

Given that... for CSM it's Rapiers that can be tooled out for any roll they are super cheap (the R&H ones are even cheaper but loose out on options), and the Spartan mostly for its bigger transport capacity.

My opponent must have not known they are immune to blast? I certainly didn't know that. Why would a super heavy walker be immune to blast weaponry? Further why would the flyers only hit on a 6+? We did take into account moving Holofield saves though. Seems unlikely my opponent woudnt know the rules for his titan, but I'm not going to rule it out.

Back to the thread and not having to explain to Jeske how a hypothetical situation didn't happen...

The translation jump on the hell blades was really useful for catching opponents off guard . Come in at the side, then on next turn jump into rear arc and let rip with 6 twin linked rending autocannon shots

Well said, the only thing else I can add is super cheap bodies through Renegade Troops. I can see me using zombies as a good bubble wrap for the allied artillery.

@Disease, do you think the jump is enough to make the HellBlades reliable? Because I desperately want to field 2 with a FireRaptor - Chaos Air thanks you for your Blood, and we hope you choose to die for us again and again and again...

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding how it happened here, but you can't change facing with the barrel roll, so how did you end up in the rear arc?

Then isn't it obvious in a game of chance he failed his psychic test and had nothing else on table that could buff it?

Taking a titant without either multiple bunkers or invisbility seems rather foolish. Any alfa strike could kill it then. The set up is as obviouse as melee units having a way to get in to melee.

Same question.

Ecto or Hades rapiers? Really?

Very interesting. That sounds like a good way to use up leftover weapons if you build a maulerfiend (and magnetise anyway so you can also throw a Beamer on there).

Yeah, 3 ecto Rapiers is cheaper than a Forgefiend with 2! Hades cost a bit more but you're getting double the hits from a squad of 3 than a single dakkafiend.

Jeske, how can you come to any conclusions about what should and shouldn't be taken, what was and wasn't taken by my opponent, and what was still alive on the board turn 3, when I have told you know absolutely nothing of the game?

We played 1000pt each side doubles game. My opponent took revanant and a farseer, his ally took a Warhound, culexis assassin and a voidshield generator. I was running IA13 units, and my ally was running unbound Centstar with Tigerius, Severin Loth and Bike Master.  My Obliterator and SM player's orbital bombardment took out the voidshield generator, and the centstar killed both the farseer and the warhound.

Now, you tell everyone on the Bolter and Chainsword how the Eldar player was to make his revanant invisible when he has no support units left and failed his psyhic test last turn?

...

Also I made you this:

Are we done now?

Perhaps you would be more popular on the board if you didn't constantly have to try an prove you are right in every situation.

Regards,

Aha, that's cleared it up nicely thanks! You're liking the hell blade then? I'm thinking of picking up a couple for when I get back to my CSMs.

I will likely convert my two heldrakes. The Blade is much more fragile, but 60 odd points cheaper.    With the fire raptor having reaper batteries, chaos Air is definitely now a thing.

*Sits in the shadows, lurking the conversations, flipping through his copy of IA 13, while scribbling notes and drawing in his sketch book*

Like I needed more fuel for the ideas rattling around inside my head; too many great ideas can actually be a bad thing. Go figure. No time to start on the ideas now, but I'm trying to sketch what I can for later reference.

Just when I thought I had a list I could use as a base, this book as changed my mind completely. The Sicaran, Fire Raptor, and Rapiers are the stand-outs for me as well. I might just have to make a Chaos Rapier kit to do a formation of them justice, and if I get a Raptor, well that's just going to push me to get cracking on the Chaos Storm Eagle. Yep, this book just consolidated enough rules into one place to give me much motivation with current rules backed direction. *In his best Montgomery Burns voice* Excellent!

I am surprised no one mentioned the Sicaran Battle Tank yet. It is a steal for its points and can take on xenos skimmers with ease. I have been using one in my Space Wolves force to deal with Necron Barges and Serpents and it worked like a charm. Granted, I had the Schizm of Mars legacy on it to give him tank hunter. I am not sure if CSM have a similar upgrade system. Either way, try it out. It is a great tank ;)
