hey folks smile.png

I'm here to share with you my new project: a small warband of chaos chosens.

here's the army list:

1 chosen champion, combi-melta, power weapon, slaanesh mark
2 chosen, plasma, slaanesh mark
1 chosen, missile launcer, slaanesh mark
1 chosen, slaanesh mark

3/4 chaos spawns

I like the idea of them being part of the alpha legion since this chapter is known for spreading the seed of chaos and therefore I can imagine this small group trying to convert people deep into an hive city which is really cool to me smile.png

This is the first model I'm working on (not finished yet), this is the champion. I wanted him to be something like a "living shrine" so i put an icon and some candles on his backpack. I also plan on sculpting scales on his mantle to make him look more like an "alpha legion thinghy". let me know what do you think of it!!!!

thank you :)

guys, here's a question: a few friends pointed out that actually the alpha legion does not use big icons or candels and such and they suggested to look for the wordbearers chapter insted. That chapter, thoe, is actually more loyal to khorne than slaanesh... what should I do?

I think you are getting your legions mixed up.

World eaters are devoted to Khorne

Emperors Children are devoted to Slaanesh

Death Guard are devoted to Nurgle

Thousand Sons are devoted to Tzeentch

Word Bearers worship the whole pantheon so can be followers of any and all.

The remaining legions, well to me the likes of Night Lords, Alpha Legion, Iron Warriors & Black Legion have no particular affiliation to to any of the Chaos Gods and are bitter and hatred driven warriors who will utilise any of the Chaos Gods if they can see it giving them an advantage or to achieve a particular goal.

Thats just my 2 pennies worth

I know all of that, tho I find hard to figure out how word barers could enjoy a slaanesh cult since they are all lik "burn them and praise the dark gods yayyyyy!". I rfelt like alpha legion was more likely to develope a few slaanesh chosen cause they are more "cunning" and "treacherous", you know...

Well, it's your army so do what you want.

As others suggested, I've always imagined the Alpha Legion, Iron Warriors and Nightlords as independent of any particular god, but some of the stories published by the Black Library feature members of those legions who are in the service of particular gods. In 'Storm of Iron' by Graham McNeill the Iron Warriors Captain Kroeger shows strong tendencies toward Khorne, as does Uzas the Nightlord in Aaron Dembski-Bowden's Nightlords trilogy. (If you haven't read these, there great books if you enjoy the 40k universe.)

It's conceivable that individuals from traitor legions would ally with gods even if their compatriots view it as a failing or weakness. I can see the Alpha Legion using the gifts of the dark gods to lure mortals into their service and Slaanesh is all about luring.

in the end I decided to work on a custom chapter and I will call that "the whisperers". I'm still working on the scheme, but I'm thinking about something really dark with a white elmet and loooots of weathering. what do you think? :)

Ohhh, clever.  I've been wanting to do some for my Templars for a while now.  I found a tutorial for making them from plastic rods, a wire, and some liquid greenstuff. How'd you go about making those?

Between those and the bases, you strike me as one of those MacGyver modelers.  I'll bet a dollar you've got some Orks somewhere :P

hahahaha, I've got some fantasy orks somewhere, but I've always been a space marines player (and tyanids, here and there...)

instead of using liquid green stuff, try using some vinyl glue! WAAAAAAY cheaper and the result is not that different :)

so, after some reasoning and the gathering of different opinion, I decided to go for the top left: having the dark helmet helps me leaving the focus on the eyes and the decorations of the backback.

btw here is the first step for the bases

Bases look awesome, and excellent kitbash/conversion work!

It's funny, you have a lot in common here with Ace Debonair's Rift Lords, a secretive yet devout DIY Chaos warband whose small, hidden cells instigate chaos worshipping cults and uprisings across countless Sectors. They're even purple and white! They're somewhere in the depths of the Liber Astartes forum, but might be worth a read for more ideas/inspiration?
