No, it's not a Guard vehicle so fails at the first hurdle!

I know blush.png I'm with you in spirit though!

(Joking aside, I'd join the fun but I'm on a deadline with this tank and some other bits. Sorry!)

This challenge is dedicated to former Commissar Kierdale thumbsup.gif

I'm deeply honoured!

And so,

Through the Warp, to near and far,

To Tallarn, Lethe and Ultramar,

The Emperor points and we obey,

Through the Warp and far away...

I'll leave it to the Invulnerable Bede to do the introduction...

Kierdale's Shrineworld presents perhaps the most blessed armoured fighting vehicle of it's native Imperial Guard regiments.

I give you the Leman Russ Punisher battle tank designated `Rectitude`.

The photo shows all the optional pieces but, as time is short (or rather work is busy) I will only be painting it as a Punisher with triple heavy bolters and heavy stubber (and crew) for this event. Optional loadouts can wait.

Now this is not a "big gun" per say... but its all I could muster up with my army theme that suits into the extra requirements (well I could have saved the Knight way back last year... but I want to game with painted miniatures).

Story and such will be given once the model is painted. There is a reason for the casual take on the genestealer under the foot.

Some few bits are added. They will be explained once I am done.

I'm intrigued and it helps that I already have the Leman Russes that need painting.

Couple of questions: one, are the available ranks the same as before? Two, if so, what's above Sergeant?

I'm slacking, my counts as Pask punisher still sits doing nothing in black. I've been distracted by a squat command squad and playing ridiculous jazz and psychedelia on guitar. Curse these other aspects of my life....

LOL no it's just when we started I decided to swap the tank commander out for Pask. so I did a little surgury and voila.

Do you have WIP picture of it after the changes?

For each challenge there are three ranks available; Lance Corporal, Corporal and Sergeant depending on the level of your completion of that particular challenge. These are the medals you can see in some people's sigs (I have both medals, as I have completed both challenges so far at Sergeant level). These challenge ranks are added together (though your army's background piece only counts once) to form your overall Regiments rank, which I have as a bar on the left of my sig.

The available Regiments of the B&C ranks so far are:

Lance Corporal

Corporal

Sergeant

Colour Sergeant

Warrant Officer Class 2

As you can see Warrant Officer Class 2 is the highest rank possible at the moment, but since we're currently running the third challenge I suppose we'll have to add another two ranks msn-wink.gif Let me know if you have any more questions thumbsup.gif

Oh well... I had some spare time on my hands and found some stuff here I wanted to try out.

So this is my contributions Sergeant Dorian and his Sentinel.

ARMY BACKGROUND

The Cerian guard are a direct militant order of several Ordo Xeno Inquisitors. And experimental army consisted of war veterans from various Imperial worlds. Once drafted, which could be either by rescued (if deemed worthy), head hunted (skill on a "random" inquisitorial visit to any imperial world), or directly drafted from an Imperial world.

The Cerian guard will undergo further education, not standard to the normal guards among the many imperial worlds. They are trained to be able to handle almost any role in the Cerian guard. Be it covert operations, or combat dropping from a Valkyrie, or even operating the various vehicles the Cerian guard has to offer. They need to be able to take on any of these tasks.

This has resulted in highly educated soldiers, able to continue fighting even if other elements are crippled. Switching roles on the battle field isn't unusual, as this is expected of every soldier. They need to change into the role that is needed for the task at hand.

Leading the force is usually an Inquisitor, or in some cases a Commissar deemed tactical and fierce enough.

The Xeno Inquisitors in charge of this operation have succeeded in rallying several Freeblades, thus adding a handful Imperial Knights to their cause. Promising honour and glory they follow in the wake of death that the the Xeno Inquisitors lay before them.

The Cerian guard are not following the standard obligations as for any Imperial world. They do not need to provide a certain amount of guards to the Imperial army. As so, they do not go into large scale wars. And if they do, they are tasked with covert operations. They simply don't have the manpower to conquer a whole world on their own.

Tasks usually given to them are hit and run operations, such as raids and obtaining certain objects and information. But when not given tasks by Terra, the Xeno inquisitors have their own agenda.

Using these well trained soldiers, they gather information of the alien races. Searching for ancient artefacts to unlock either weakness of their foes or great powers to wield themselves.

SERGEANT DORIAN

A former Lieutenant. Proud as any Cerian officer, and earned his promotions like all others by proving himself on the field. Dorian though, always lead from the front. Never letting anyone take a task that he can't do him self. He strongly believed a leader should lead and not sit back and point.

This unfortunately lead to a big accident. Leading a charge through a boobytrapped area, he stepped on a land mine. He noticed it a few moments to late, but did have time to shove one of his men a side, saving his life but losing both his legs in the process.

The Xeno inquisitors offered him retirement for his long service and loyalty. But Dorian wouldn't have it. He insisted on continuing his service one way or another. The mechanicus had some suggestions, not really sanctioned, but using some ancient technology and similar procedures as with a dreadnaught, they could incorporate Lieutenant Dorian into a modified Sentinel.

Dorian accepted this procedure, and was later back in the field. The inquisitors gave him rank and a new unit to command. Dorian though refused his former rank, and insisted on starting from the bottom. To earn his trust of his new men, he had to prove him self.

The Xeno inquisitors who knew him well did not accept this, and offered him only to go as "low" as Sergeant.

Dorian accepted this, but made sure his new men didn't call him sergeant until they saw him as one of them and one competent to lead them.

This though, took a very short time. He had a reputation already and he was very successful in his new role.

At times when he is on his own, he would sometime return to his former platoon, to support them in their assaults. His presence inspired his old men, and this spread to other units.

A nick name has started to float around the Cerian Guard, Sarg Irons, more machine than man but leads with an iron will.

Great work Vash, our first official completion! biggrin.png Should have known if anyone could swoop in and complete so soon it would be you msn-wink.gif Well done!

Looks like I need to sort out the entrants list... and my own vow!

Well I was suppose to be done earlier biggrin.png But as I said before, was not really in the mood... hehe.

I just wish I had something else to provide you guys with.

Thing is, this actually inspired me to do something new. So thanks to the board. The "new" thing is the weathering. Have had it laying around here for years now...

... oh and I gotta add something to the model story...

The two boxes at the back of the sentinel (behind the exhausts) are caskets containing the remains of his legs...
