You really should give your Thallax some sort of weapon like a multi-melta. Lightning guns are nice, but the multi-melta will give you some needed anti-tank.  Giving your Magos either a machinator array or a conversion beamer is not a bad idea as the former makes you tougher while the latter gives you some nice long ranged firepower which complements Ordinator nicely.  Putting him on an abeyant is pretty good standard practice.  The way you currently have him the rad grenades, while useful in some situations, are just not worth the 10 points as they are far better spent elsewhere.

Now I must ask, why does your lone Thanatar not have paragon of metal?  Do you pity your opponents so much that you are passing up on a nearly must take upgrade?  Do you have that much contempt for the foes you face that feel the need to pass up insanely good upgrades?  No longer being subject to programmed behavior and getting IWND is bonkers good.  The targeting array is also a rather nice fit on it as well since reducing covers saves by one in conjunction with the Hellex forcing successes being re-rolled is particularly good.  After dropping 240 points, another 50 in upgrades to take it from big and scary to "fetch me my brown pants" terrifying is really worth it.  Unless you are running two single maniples of Thanatar in the same detachment, there is absolutely no reason that a lone Thanatar should not have paragon of metal.  If you are running two, then really try to put them in separate detachments so both can have it, even if you need to buy extra units to do so; it is just that good!

P⑨P QUIZ
A bus left the Scarlet Devil Mansion; three people boarded at the start.
At Hakugyokurou, one left and half a person boarded.
At Yakumo-san's house, two people left; so how many passengers in total?
The answer is zero people because there are no buses in Gensokyo!

You can also switch out the Mauler Bolt Cannons for Mulit-Meltas for free on the Castellax.  Do you know what you are going up against?  On your Archmagos you can switch out the Conversion Beamer for a Iradiation Engine. Str 4 AP 3 flesh bane, torrent.  Anything above AP 3 is insta kill on a 2+ with flesh bane unless they have multiple wounds.

The choice comes down to role.  The multi-melta fits in a more all around role choice for Thallax due to the similar range to the stock weapon while also being a nice anti-tank option.  The photon thruster on the other hand, far outstrips the rest of the unit's ranged firepower.  It does get two shots, allow the unit to rarely be out of range, and with only a handful of lance immune exceptions can glance any vehicle giving it some anti-tank ability, but on the downside it has gets hot and if 60% more expensive than the multi-melta.  If the Icarian augment were cheaper or you are running at least two photon thrusters in the unit (bigger game perhaps) or you've run out Troops slots and need to field more Thallax, it can make a Heavy Support Thallax unit a rather fun anti-air unit.  Basically which AP2 weapon do you think will better suit your list.  In the above list's specific case I think the multi-melta is the better choice.  However, if a list were more Thallax heavy (at least three or four units of them), I would encourage diversity.

Ive found the 2 shots to be highly effective against legio lists with lots of power armor and terminator armor. I use my Thallax as a firebase and the Castellax in more of a direct engagement in the front where the T7 is much better than T5. People murdered my Thallax when i used them to engage at short range. I usually walk them around a building and fire then jet pack back around the corner to safety and that lures the opponent into the range of the Mauler bolt cannon and maxim bolters which have a gross number of shots at bs5. Everything i run into with an armor value worthy of a multimelta has ceramite armor...darn legions and those pesky land raiders. But its all about play style, you have success with the MM good im glad. if you look at my post about my 3.5k list youll see i run a lot of the Photon weapons.

If you plan on using cybertheurgy (I play Legio) you actually don't want paragon of metal. It can easily send your Thanatar raging into your own units. I never use it in my Legio list.

The only Myrmdons I use are desructors but I suppose your secutor squad is okay. Why do you feel they are better than destructors.
