Looking forward to the raptors.

Back on the topic of magnets:

Being metal cylinders with low friction, the heavier weapons may have a habit of rotating and aiming at the hero's toes.  My solution to stopping this is to include a wire pin alongside the magnet, gluing only one end.  Your choice on whether to put the pin on the body or weapon - if on the weapon, you need more pins, but this means that lighter weapons can be added without needing a pin.

With camera flash:

And without flash. I actually prefer these to show the darkness of the models.

I am a great fan of raptors and especially these raptors. Great squad.

I also prefer the photos without flash.  But the shadows are very dark.  How about using a large white card to act as a reflector from behind the camera, to get natural light under the jet-packs, chests, etc. ?

Thanks for the kind words!

I've been messing with so many lighting options trying to get the right contrast, I'll give your suggestions a shot when I take the next pics!

Having a white, sloping backdrop does indeed make photo taking and the subsequent photoshopping quite a bit less arduous.

The raptors are looking awesome buddy! Keep up the great work.

You bought Sevatar from them and they sent you an Eye of Horus? How rude :D

Totally looking forward to seeing what you do with him!

Hey, if it's free, It's for me lol!

but thanks! I can't decide on which legion the dead astartes should belong

Awesome, I really dont understand the people complaining about Sevatar, I think the mini is excellent and cant wait to paint it myself one day.

I totally agree. He loojs downright mean and dangerous which alsodescribes him perfectly

I just ordered the old Sternguard Sergeant model with the power fist because I have the terrible urge to paint him as a severely battle damaged Howling Griffon.

This is what I get for challenging GrandMagnus to paint them himself lol.

Hello, First Captain....

Primed up and first airbrush coats down for his armor! Still torn on what color to paint his victim as..

Hmm... Emperor's Child?

I do really like the White Scar that FW went with too.

But ultimately up to you. Which of the inferior seventeen other legions do you despise the most? (preferably who also won't clash with your Midnight-clad evening ensemble)

I truly hate the Word Bearers (excepting Argel Tal and Lorgar himself). But Imperial Fists still appeal to me based on previous fluff written and considering I'm building them as a Pre-Istvaan army....ugh

I was planning on painting an Imperial Fist on the base (Sevatar fought at Terra if I recall correctly?), because I think the yellow would be a nice contrast to the blue. So would a blood angel too.

I can't remember if he disappears before or after the siege....a Blood Angel would look pretty slick too....hmmmm

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok so a few things, I decided, after much deliberation, to paint up Sevatars slain enemy to be from the Emperors Children. After reading Dark King I think it'll work perfectly (Flint called it lol).

I'm also hoping beyond hope that I get my lazy bum to the store to grab a few paints to begin painting up Sevs base again!.....also hoping for a snow day tomorrow so I can get the majority ,if not all of him, finished since my last snow day was so productive and I finished all 5 Night Raptors.

Fingers crossed!!!
