Welcome to my WIP log for my version of the 10th company of the Night Lords. Obviously you've all guessed this is gonna be inspired by (ripped off of lol) ADB's awesome Night Lords trilogy but i'd hopefully be able to pay respect to those awesome books by converting and painting every named member of 10th company eventually building on that to have a fully function company of the legion astartes. I shall begin rather blatantly with First Claw but it might not be the first claw you'll all be used to... for it shall be a pre siege force. so there'll be no Uzas, Mercution, Ademar or Variel BUT there will be Ruven, Sar Zall and of course a pre-mutation SGT Vandred. Building from there I'll probably do the Warsage Followed by the rest of the claws maybe even in numerical order There will be various visitors to 10th company from out side including this cheeky chappy the Night Haunter himself http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i398/Jay_Leslie/006-6.jpg PIP pics of the big guys can be found in last months casual hobby challenge. Wyvern Posted February 2, 2015 Author Share Posted February 2, 2015 Cheers all @ M'Lady Flint yeah cheers never really pictured Kurze to be all blingy like his preening brothers (apart from grand pappy Dorn who im sure was gold for function rather than flair lol) so im pretty happy with how the iron came out, its the scheme im using for all my night lords so hopefully will lead to a coherent force. no update so far today guys :( my E-bay fu seems to have deserted me so may have to put talos on hold till i can get to grips on a MK4 nethacarium, the MK7 ive got from the GW command squad is just too bulky for what i want to do with him..... So on to the Warsage instead :) im unsure whether to do him in his pose at the siege as depicted on his sarcophagus or go for sutin a lil more original. any opinions would be awesome guys :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Augustus b'Raass Posted February 2, 2015 Share Posted February 2, 2015 I like this idea - actually I really like it and think you should definitely embark on it - but you need to make sure the head really fits in the neck-fitting (?). Right now, the head seems to 'float' above the neck, whereas the intent of the body is that the grill of the helmet is slightly obscured by the neck cover. If you can make that work (perhaps it's an easy fix, but perhaps it requires some shaving off of the back part of the helmet) it'd be great. Greenstuff the batwings to the helmet and you're pretty much golden from there - unless you really would like to shave off those 'feathers' and greenstuff some true batwings - also not too difficult with the right tools (rubber brushes). Wyvern Posted February 2, 2015 Author Share Posted February 2, 2015 yeah totally bud its all just blu-tac'd together atm, didnt really wanna cut too deep into the helm incase i didnt like it. I am definitely leaning towards using this set up, it isn't a hard job to make the helm fit right at all. It sits lower without the blu-tac anyway so it'll just be a case of shaving in inside of the gorget very slightly and a lil bit off the crest at the back of the head, but if i go with adding some wings to it most if not all of the crest will be come off anyway. Question did Talos rock an Aquila chest piece when Night Haunter and the Warsage were still breathing air? Heresy era, the III Legion were the only one of the eighteen that were allowed to display the Palantine eagle as a sign of the Emperor's favor and was considered his personal symbol. The Imperial eagle, on the other hand, was a service reward for any legionnaire and represented the entirety of the Imperium. That being said, I believe (as in, don't quote me on it, but I'm decently sure) Talos's ritually broken Aquila breastplate was supposed to be from a Salamander stolen approximately M38. So very wasteful lol IIRC when he's "visited" by fragments of the chaos gods 1 of them is wearing his scavenged armour but unpainted and i think (read hope im remembering right) the chest plate was from an ultrasmurf and when the covenant was boarded by the blood angels (the bit where malcharion kills the blood angels dread for a second time) he claims a bloods angels top to replace his damaged armour. So basically i have no idea if he'd have done it during the heresy but sounds increasingly like he wouldnt have done. Drat lol wheres ADB when ya need him eh? Wyvern Posted February 4, 2015 Author Share Posted February 4, 2015 Hail brothers and sisters!! not much of an update today other than grumbling about the randomness of my various bits orders turning up lol so as of now i have: 95% of the bits needed to finish Malcharion 85% of the bits for Xarl 60ish% of the bits needed for Talos 50% for Sar Zell 50% for Mercution 20% for Ruven 65ish% for Malek and nothing really for Vandred Cyrion and Uzas i think im almost there, i know they were described as wearing MK2 and MK3 helms respectively..... but i cant remember which was which n i have lost the notes i made last time i read through the trilogy lol and if i may brothers and sister a quick question for any of you fluff masters within our murderous ranks. Ruven.... as my army is based "around" the siege (just before up to the scouring) asaik the Haunter detests psykers so i dont think Ruven would be all overtly sorcerer..y but i dont just want to model him as another line grunt.
