Deathwing Terminator Test Piece

Recommended Posts

I decided to paint up some Deathwing models, this is my test piece.

Missing a base, as I am still deciding what to do about those. Some more images on my blog.

I am also in two minds about the helmets. I am tempted to paint them red, I created a mock up of a red helm on the PC.

What do you think, bone or red helmets?

Nicely done.  I feel the bone could use a highlight before the weathering stage, as it is currently oddly matte next to the green.  There are some crevices which could use some shading too, like the finger joints on the fist.

Make more :)

Glad you like it. The pose is the stock pose, as it is just a Dark Vengeance terminator. I am looking forward to painting up the rest of the squad too.

Any one got an opinion on the helmet colour? Leave as is, or go red?

First off, great painting!!

Secondly - IMO, keep them Bone :)

Great Job!

For what it's worth I agree with everyone one else about the Red Helmet -it's a bit much really and with the green its beginning to look a lot like Christmas on Caliban.

Check out some of the wip threads in the DA forum. the people have some serious brush skills and it's a good place for ideas and inspiration. thumbsup.gif

thats a great looking deathwing termy.great weathering was it brush or sponge effect?

also my vote is for the bone helmet too

I used an airbrush to undercoat and paint the bone colour on the model. Applying a layer of chipping fluid between the base coat and the rest of the bone armour.

Then the weathering/chipping was done with a cocktail stick and a knackered wet brush (sparingly with the brush). Last step is to go round and highlight/shade the chips with a fine paint brush.

I am trying to learn how to use an airbrush which is why...

...you're right about the bone needing a highlight, or rather I over cooked the gradients I was trying to achieve with the airbrush. So the highlight ended up being more like the main colour. Unfortunately the other 4 squad members were all done at the same time so I am not sure if it's fixable on the others either. Although I have not started chipping their bone armour yet.

I can fix the fingers though, thanks for pointing that out.
