Great success for the Redeemers.

My game against Chris' Deamonkin was great fun and ended in a solid 16-9 victory for the Redeemers.

Since the FAQ out Dreads are now absolute monsters and Cassor the Damned in particular just blended his way through everything that stood in his way.

Big Crispin made BBQ meat out of 5 Spawn, 2 squads of Chaos Bikers and a squad of cultsits.

My Baal Pred imoblised itself on turn one, but managed to get a few rounds of shooting off before it got popped by some Bloodcrushers.

Hopefully we will be having a rematch very soon.

Six Up Save are running a Killteam (|Herralds of Ruin rules) campaign in the new year, so I've got a few weeks to make myself 250 of Blood Angel fury.

I raided my bitxbox last night and managed to assemble my whole list out of spare parts:

Blood Angel Kill-team Squad "Maru's Palm".

"Sgt. Artuo has been with the Order of Redemption since its initial conception at the hand of High Priest Corbulo.

Artuo cut his teeth leading drop pod assaults in a swift but brutal campaign on the hiveworld Catbutt IV. He gained recognition with the Blood Angels as a tactical mastermind, specialising in drop-pod and jump pack Alfa-strikes. Despite years of leading victorious assaults on Chaos encampments, Artuo fell from grace when he mistook Commander Dante's pet hamster for a Daemon Familiar and bit its head off.

Cast out of the chapter, Artuo was picked up by Black Maru and inducted into the Order of Redemption. After years of leading Maru's Vanguard squads into battle, he was rewarded with one of Maru's most treasured relics; The Krootbane, a long sword imbued with long forgotten xenos magic that glows green and gives off the smell of BBQ sauce when in the presence of Kroot.

Now in command of his own Squad named "Maru's Palm", Artuo travels the universe, moving from one Chaos encampment to another, dropping from the skies with his squad mates and cleansing the filthy traitors before disappearing as swiftly as he came.

Leader:

Vanguard Vet Sgt Artuo - Jump pack, StormShield, Relic Blade.

Core:

Assault Marine Victus - Jump Pack

Assault Marine Corbin - Jump Pack

Assault Marine Pit- Jump Pack

Assault Marine Ramsey - Jump Pack, Inferno Pistol

Assault Marine Kasper- Jump Pack, Flamer

Scout Kiba - Sniper, Camo cloak

Special:

Vanguard Vet Reece - Jump Pack, Lightning Claw, Lightning Claw

Vanguard Vet Corvo - Jump Pack, Lightning Claw, Lightning Claw

I cant wait to start painting them tonight. :biggrin.:

So, Killteam seems pretty fun.

Had my first game on Friday night against an Eldar team (a Farseer with 2 bodyguards, a handful of guardians and a gun-platform),

The board had lots of cover, so i jumped from building to building hiding in the ruins and then charged him down.

I wiped out his entire force with taking only one wound.

I think I'll drop the scout for an additional Assault Marine, but I do feel I'm lacking some firepower. I might see if I can fit a melta in there somehow.

I've got a local tourney coming up this weekend.

It's a doubles event at 1,250 points per person and only one detachemtn allowed per player.

My buddy Charles asked if I wanted to team up with his Farsight Enclave so I had to think of a reason why my Blood Angels would agree to work with Tau rebels.

I agreed to team up with him, but Maru isn't sending his best men to help some greasy fish-men, so I'm only sending him reinforcements in the form of Death Company.

My list looks like this:

Blood Angels - Baal Strike Force.

HQ:
Chaplain - jump pack - inferno pistol
Chaplain - jump pack - inferno pistol

Troops:
Scouts x6: camo cloaks, sniper rifles, 1x Heavy Bolter
Cassor the Damned

Elites:
Furioso Dread - Frag Canon, Heavy Flamer.
Death company x7 - jump packs - Power Sword, Power fist
Death Company x7 - jump packs - power fist, thunder hammer

Fast attack:
Drop Pod

Heavy:
Storm Raven - Hurricane Bolters

Total: 1249 points

My teammate is taking a fluffy Enclave list with Farsight, a Boatload of Crisis Suits and a pair of Riptides.

I'll let you guys know how we get on.

Well, the tourney was good fun, but we did not do well at all. XD

Our first game was against Iron Hands and Raven Guard.

The big problem we had in this game was the Imperial Knight and the 5 squads of 5 Raven Guard who ALL had Powerfists and Lightning Claws. They deepstruck in and changed us down turn two, completely wiping us out before our reserves came in. It was brutal. >_<

Second game was against a Khorne themed Chaos army allied with a formation that had 4 Deamon princes in.

We killed most of the Khorne players stuff without too much problem, the the Deamon Princes all had combinations of 2+ re-rollable, 2++ invun or had invisibilty, so we couldn't even scratch them.

Another heavy loss.

The third game started off rocky for us as well, our opponents were a Leman Russ gunline and some Ultrasmurfs.

The Leman Russes really gave us a shed-load of punishment for the first 2 turns, but as soon as my two remaining Death Company marines got close, they punched their way through all 3 squadrons and we ended up tabling them on turn 5.

So although we didn't place in the top 3 by a loooong way (I think we were 16th out of 20 >_<) I did win the "best painted mini" award and pocketed myself a really nice set of new brushes. I don't have a decent picture of the DC Chaplain that was awarded "Best Painted", but I'll see if I can post one up later this week.

I was really shocked to win as there were 40 armies in total with some really amazing paint jobs on display, including some professional commission painters, so i was very, very pleased. :smile.:

The Six Up Save Killteam kicks off in a couple of weeks, so I've got a few Blood angles left to paint up for that.

Then at the end of the month I've got a 500 point tourney that restricts you to only having 1 HQ and only troops. (Probably taking Necrons for that)

Next month is our Back to basics tourney, so I'll be taking a classic Blood Angles army with lots of Fluffy Jump-pack goodness.

Mid-April I've got the Vale renegades next 40k event which should be great fun as well.

Looks like 2017 is going to be a busy year for gaming. :)

So the new Six Up Save league kicks off in two weeks so I've decided to dust off my poor neglected Blood Angels and build up a tidy little 1250 point list.

The league see's me teaming up with my buddy Matt whos running an Inquisitor warband.

I've decided to go pure Death Company for the luls using the Angels Blade Lost Bortherhood formation.

Here what I got:

2x Death Company Chaplin

8x Death Comapny, Power Sword, Fist

7x Death Company, Hammer, Fist

5x Death Company, Hammer

1x DC Dread, Drop Pod, Talons

1x Storm Raven, Hurricane Bolters

I'm probably going to get creamed taking such a low lodel count army, but it should look bad ass so at least I'll have fun. >_<

I was going to put the 5 man squad in the Storm Raven and assualt out of it, but I think I'll need all the boots on the floor turn one or I'll get wiperd before I get close enough to charge.

At lest the formation give me a free 6" movement at the start of the game which should help.

Not much anti-tank tho...

Unless you face ridiculous imported- brie levels of cheese at that points level, you can actually do ok if you accept what your army can/can't do, throw out any fancy schmancy tactics and just go balls to the wall against your foe.

I would maybe drop a hammer or two to give your Chaplains melta bombs, re-rolls To Hit with those things WILL mess up vehicles.

Also, I would go heavy flamer/storm bolter for underslung on the DC Dread. He may well bubblewrap to protect against it...make him pay.

A gunship flying in and strafing the enemy always helps, but 230/1250 is a lot of points to have tied up off the board. I would consider dropping the hurrican bolters on the SR to add another body or two to your DC units. I take it you are running TL AC/TL MM on the SR?

Can the Death Company Chaplains take Melta bombs? I thought they came with set loadouts?

Yeah, the Storm raven has MM on the front and AC on top. :smile.:

I feel a little bad now, I took this list against a friend of mine yesterday. it was horrendous.

He had:

Khan the Betrayer

8 Terminators with various combi-weapons.

8 Bezerkers (powerfist and plasma pistol on sgt)

8 Bezerkers (powerfist and plasma pistol on sgt)

8 Raptors

Mauler Fiend with plasma cutters

I completely wrecked his :cuss

I lost my HQ chaplain in a challenge issued by Khan. Khan rolled on the boon table and turned into a Demon Prince which I promptly blended with my DC Dread.

His maulerfiend charged one of my DC squad and my chaplain blew it up in over watch with his inferno pistol!

All in all I lost 2 DC and one of the Chaplains. I tabled him turn 4.

The sheer amount of attacks The Lost Brotherhood get on the charge is insane and then all the re-roll to hit AND wound meant I was dishing out about 27 wounds on the charge at I5 and S5 with just the pistol / chainsaw dudes. The powerswords / fists / hammers never even had a chance to swing.

...so where's the problem?

I kid. It's one thing to kick butt in a competitive environment, it's another to show up to your little cousin's squirt gun fight with a fleet of fire trucks.

The question is: if you play him again, would you tone down your list or want him to beef up his?

I'll definitely be toning mine down.

The idea was that we were practising our league lists for our "Good bye to 7th ed" league, which is specifically meant to be a supper fluffy cheese free and fun event.

I love the theme that my opponent took and I want to encourage the other guys in the league to follow suite.

If they hear that I'm sticking with the list that battered him that bad, they will all want to cheese up their lists too and the whole thing will spiral as it always does. Lol.

Thing is, he had Zerkers in rhinos... That straight away is very poor. If he was running a WE detachment, with certain relics and such he'd have a similar level of mobility to you and it would have been a more even fight.

A Death Company list is good, but not OP... Your opponent just had a particularly weaksauce list.

To be fair, depending on what army you face putting them in Rhinos is not THAT bad. It at least softens a nasty alpha strike if you aren't going first.

Actually he was footslogging, no rhinos anywhere on the table.

I get what you are saying tho.

I did start the game with only 2 units of 8 men on the table plus 1 dread that can't charge.

Against any kind of shooty list I'm gonna get hammered.

*sheepishly starts a new topic as though he hasn't been absent for 7 months*

Having a game with the new dex tomorrow new, Narrative paly using the Open War cards.
Most likely to be up against my friends Deathguard with Mortarion nonsense. I'd normally call foul taking a big guy like Morty to a friendly match, but he's just painted it and it looks beautiful so he's understandably exited to use it.

Here's my list:

Battalion detachment - 125 Power Lv.

HQ: Black Maru - Librarian with Force Axe, Inferno Pistol and Jump Pack.
HQ: Chaplain - Crozius, Inferno Pistol and "Angel's Wing" Relic Jump Pack.

Troops: 10 Man Tactical with Powersword, Combi-flamer, Flamer, Heavy Flamer.
Troops: 10 Man Tactical with Powersword, Combi-flamer, Flamer, Heavy Flamer.
Troops: 5x Scout Squad with Snipers, Camo-cloaks and a Heavy Bolter.
Troops: 5x Scout Squad with Snipers, Camo-cloaks and a Heavy Bolter

Elite: 10 Man Death Company, 1x Power sword, 2x Power fists, everything else has chainswords and boltpistols with Jump Packs.
Elite: 4 Sanguinary Guard, 2x swords, 1x Axe, 1x Fist.
Elite: 5 man Sternguard squad, 4x Combimelta, 1x Melta

Fast: 10 Man Assault Squad, Powesword, Inferno Pistol, Melta, Melta.
Fast: 6 Bikers with a Powersword, 2 Grav guns and a Multi-melta attack bike.

Heavy: Baal Pred, Firestorm canon and Heavy Flamers
Heavy: Baal Pred, Assault Canon and Heavy Bolters
Heavy: Vindicator

Dedicated: Rhino for the Tacticals
Dedicated: Rhino for the Tacticals
Dedicated: Drop Pod for the Stenguard

That comes to 125 Power Level in total (somewhere around 2000 points).
It's fast, Its brutal and its got lots of threats with a solid mix of Close Combat damage and mid-range shooting.

I'm not sold on the bike unit at all, but I had 12 PL to spend and all my non-fast slots were full.

Kinda sad about what's happened to the Death company. Loosing fearless, an attack each and the FNP going from a 5+ to a 6+ seems to leave them in a bad way, especially for their points cost. How do you guys run them effectively now?
I'd have loved to have been able to fit a Death Company Dread or another Sternguard pod-squad, but my Elite slots got gobbled up with so many other good options.

Thoughts?

I like it.  I generally design my lists more on what I think will be fun to play, rather than necessarily being competitive, and your list seems to be a better balance of BA for my tastes than most lists I've been seeing lately.  Have you considered separating a few things into other detachments to get more CP?  Blood Angels have a lot of great stratagems now, so high CP can be a huge buff.  You could go with a cheap Sanguinary Priest HQ and create a Vanguard detachment with your Elites or a Spearhead detachment with your Heavies, or both if you can find a place to shave off some PL.  Also, have you considered Inceptors instead of the Bike squad?  10 PL for a flying, deepstriking Devastator squad that can actually be effective in assault isn't too shabby.
