Space Wolfes by Adam - WIP Thread

Thrillhouse - thanks! Moar to come, don't worry msn-wink.gif

LutherMax - surprisingly, no. At least, in comparison to the previous method. The most important thing is preparing the base for the highlight - which does not involve anything special. All I do at first is: base of The Fang, "wet" drybrush with Russ Grey, cover it with lahmian medium (VERY IMPORTANT), wash with diluted Naggarond Nighshade (previous lahmian medium layer makes it distribute very well).

So, the previous steps are quick and easy. Then, I use the diluted shade again to make shades on the insides of the legs and any covered places, and all the very deep places. Which is also quite easy and quick. Only here starts the hard part, only that when you understand the mechanic of light, it's actually fast, as there is not much layering to actually do. Its just diluted Russ Grey, Fenrisian grey and white one after the other, and I prepared the diluted versions already in separate bottles (after used up shades), so no additional preparing of paints, no wet palette etc.

So yea, it doesn't take so long as it might seem smile.png

So I tried to paint this next wolfie's armour in the new style of painting, but 3 times faster, by throwing away all unnecessary steps and using bigger brushes in the process. The new air paints (Russ and Fenrisian Grey) helped a lot. Here's the WIP result:

Well, I'm sure you can check that in my thread in the hall of honour, where you will find better pics of the first dread. Although I take your comment on nmm-like shading as a compliment, I would say it's just deep shading smile.png

Here's the link to the better pics:
