Zigmunth's Flesh Tearers

Hi all!

My first post here I think. I do three armies, but since you do not accept any xeno life forms over here, I need to limit myself to showing off my SM Flesh Tearers. So, this is what I have done so far. As you will gather from the pics, I work on random projects at the same time (kind of ADHD) and never get anything finished. But I do my best... I try, really smile.png

I hope the pic size is not too big for the forum rules.

Please let me know what you think, constructive criticism makes me better, any feedback makes me work more often.

Most of these reds on the SM are done with Vallejo paints Burnt Umber to start with, then a lighter tone and Fire Red to close off. Most of them have been done with an aribrush and changing angles to simulate lighter tones on raised areas. It's a painful process but I think it pays off.

If you meant the red on the DC dude, I always put a layer of white under my red and in this case I have been using Blood Red from GW.

Wheeeen it comes to the Rhinos, it's black undercoat, thinned down Fire Red (two, three layers) and then fixing up the smootheness with an airbrush - leaves darker red in the corners ;)

I hope that helps

Second edition tactical squad. Man, I remember those. Maybe I have some knocking around somewhere...

Anyway, great job so far. Keep it up. :tu:

(PS. You might want to add writing squiggles to the purity seals on that Terminator. ;) )

The black on DC is just black. Unless you mean the jump pack vents?

Haha, I figured that much.

I meant the sharp little blue-ish highlights accompanying the black.

Sorry I wasn't more clear sweat.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

So I have had a busy hobby weekend (thanks to my mother-in-law for coming in and helping out with the girls) and below are the results.

First of all I have finished my February's commitment model, but since it's a xeno, you can find it here.

With my Flesh Tearers I have worked on building as much as I could and sorting out the bits needed. It looks like I'm going to need some bits, but I got anothe bitx box to sift through.

I have sanded the bases of my Death Company and added some on the dread.

I have glued these guys to the bases.

These are the oldschool hands and bolters I will be putting on them.

These are some spare bits.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7cezO9QuQ10/VOo3nOmeMYI/AAAAAAAABys/YiijJqhMrwo/s1600/4.jpg

And some other models in queue to be painted / finished off.

So that's it for now. I still got couple days in February to go, so I maybe will manage to basecoat them.

Finally, after months of painting my Orks, I have managed to put my brush to do some proper Emperor's work and finished painting my Librarian Dreadnought. Here are the results.

Wow, I really like the brown armour parts. Which sounds strangely specific, but that just stood out to me.

But, the model feels somehow incomplete. Mainly due to the head. I can see that it's painted, but... I dunno. Maybe paint the tear? And some scribbling on the scrolls?

They are dark red ;) Regarding the face, yes, I missed the drop. And there is a blue tint to it, lost in phone camera.

Scrolls... yes! :D Another thing missed. I finished him at 3:00am.... well... "finished" :)

Thanks for your feedback

Something I have been working on in the last few days in short breaks between recording gaming mat reviews...

The above is an example of crude masking techniques :) well it worked. One mask for both Rhinos.

And this one is both Rhinos that I have been working on, finishing the detail work and now working on battle damage.

There's also a Librarian that I need to finish before next game.

Aaaand a piece of scenery as well - a long fence piece. I got few shorter ones and these are a test for my gaming table scenery I am working on (do we have a section for that around here?)

Liking the models only just found the thread.

Regarding scenery there's a few blogs knocking around but no dedicated space for it on the forum. When I'm on my laptop I'll link in a few if you want.
