A quick update

Was messing about during lunch break and came up with a very rough sword design, for my Knight Sword of Kings.

Does it look okay? Should I keep the red curl on the vent, or keep the vent on the back pure metal??

Also considering doing a crown around halfway down the sword blade, Yay or nay??

Anyways I asked earlier, should I put a crown on the sword?? I decided to experiment on the leg armour to get an idea.

So,

  • 1 month later...

Sorry for not being around for  while, got focussed on a lot of things, buying a house, the ETL, work stuff.

Thank you Redd & WLK :smile.:

So after vehicular overload in the ETL what am I currently working on??

Annoyed as the grey is a bit blotchy and not as neat as I wanted. Every time I get paint brush in hand something crops up and I get called away, so getting paint consistency the same each time, plus remembering ratios has been a pain. I'd rather just do it in one sitting.

Next up is skin tones... I have left the wolf panoply to a minimum as I want to see what FW does with their HH upgrade kits plus any characters or specialist units they might release, so I acn keep them unified. NOw I justned to work out pack markings and the like :smile.:

Oh and camo colours... Someone suggested looking at Flints Word Bearer for camo ideas.... I was thinking winter/ urban to match my terminators, but it could be a grey overload, so we will see.

Are you sure you're not a dark Angels fan? ;)

That looks suspiciously dark angel-esque.

I had been known to dabble in other legions when I was younger....One of them may or may not have been Dark Angels  ;) Besides, my best friend is a DA player :)

It actualy started life as a design for a stylised cross, which was going to have 4 tiny crowns on it at each point, but my painting skills are not that good, so they became swords.

I aim to name each knight I do after a fictitious sword, or a famous sword from legend/history, also id I do a lancer I want to give it a Mongolian feel... BUt I can't find any names for swords etc used by Genghis Khan, Attila the Hun or suchlike.

Serpents Breath is from Bernard Cornwells books, Sword of Kings is from the TV show Vikings.... I fancy doing a warden or Paladin and naming it Durandal, maybe do a pair of knights and name them after 2 famous swords or sword makers etc...

Well if you like those, hopefully you will like what else is in the pipeline

SAM 2975

SAM 2974

SAM 2973

I used a destroyer kit to give a bit of variety and got the breacher upgrade kit. I ended up completely mutilating the shields to get the arms for the destroyers, they will become base scenery. I am now left with 5 of the mk3 breacher shields

Hi Jeremy1391

I will make them look like this :)

SAM 2745

P1010273

P1010312

Not to spoil the magic, but I paint my designs for the shields at about 100mm diameter, the coins are about 21-22mm

P1010009

Then scan and shrink them down & glue to the coin.
My eyesight has been getting progressively worse over the past few years, so I am trying to find ways to make certain things easier to do, but still enjoy the challenge. :)

Breachers will likely have the same or similar design across the board, but tiny little individual markers... I want them to be unified but not clones.

That's a cool way of doing the shields, and your models must have that satisfying weight the old metal models used to have.

I can't wait to see some FW stuff for the Wolves, I've decided I want to make a small kill team once their upgrade kit comes out.

Any ideas what camo scheme I should go with. I tried urban but the grey's got messy fast.

I know that is kinda the idea with camo, but nah... Looked like a 3 year old drooled paint all over them.

So yeah any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestions

Well trying camo was interesting.

I know it is supposed to lend into the background or hide the model, but still .... when you paint for things to look cool, you really need to shift your headspace.

Anyways, hope you like. Tried dabbing, but with so many curves and creases, it just didnt look right and I couldnt control the dabbing.

The tiger stripes were not too bad, but hard to get across on some of the modes as the cloak is barely there,

So I tried digital camo, which didnt work too well, but with a bit of dabbing, I hope looks like camo.

Went with Fang and white, over Administratum grey. Looks more naval than arctic, urban, but it will do, plus I am hoping the Fang will tie them to the Wolves of the future.
