Has anybody asked about this? It could be a typo, a unique army trait, or a stealth buff. My gut tells me the latter- this isn't the first time FW snuck in buff for the rapiers in a new book and rolled with it. It would certinaly shore up some of the gap between it and quad mortars. Then again FW has famously flip flopped with their AP value across multiple IA books. On a related note, IA13 and IAVraks has colossus bombards listed as S8 for ~40 points less and with pinning. Can confirm, entries on p.247 and 254 do indeed list the Lasdestroyer as being 48" while the Reference cards are 36" Will have to email Forgeworld about this but I assume book 4 supersedes the Reference Cards, maybe? The SA weapons card also shows 48", while the Legion reference card lists 36". Edit1: But the name is also different: "Laser Destroyer" on the Legion card vs "Laser Destroyer Array" for the SA card. Interesting? Mistake? I don't know. Edit2: Definitely some kind of mistake in names at the very least, "Laser Destroyer Array" is the name in LACAL for the Rapier option. Oh well I suspect that a mistake was made when the Solar Aux list was drawn up for HH4, then when the cards were made they were basically just copy/pasted over, letting the same mistake through. See, e.g., Horus Heresy: Betrayal, p. 201; Legiones Astartes: Crusade Army List, p. 27; Horus Heresy: Conquest, p. 261. Are you talking about cheaper in terms of killiness and gnarlitude per point? Sorry, I wrote that really poorly! Without getting into tactical chat- I meant to say that at 36” and ~60 points, a single shot from a laser destroyer is pretty expensive.
