Good god-damn. You'd been hinting at the IX quite a bit. As cool as I thought they'd be. Happy to see you take the heresy plunge with Blood Angels. Your bitterness in the Age of Darkness section had me worried you might sour on the idea of BA while waiting for ever and ever for Forge World to give you something to work with/off.

Also,

Flint + Zeal = win win win

Hail brothers and sisters,

Figured I'd give you all a small update. I'm waiting on some parts in the mail and steadily working away at chopping legs and extending them (Veteran Sergeant knows my pain) so there's no a whole lot to show just yet. I did however start working on the hair for one of the tactical sergeants. I plan on doing some fantastic hair styling for some of the dudes in this army (as befits a true son of the best-looking primarch ;) ). Anyways, here's the sergeant of 2nd squad, fresh out the barbershop with a razor-fade and a hot shave:

Comments, criticisms, and suggestions appreciated as always, they are the fuel that drives the engines of my creativity (and my IX legion vanity lol). Stay tuned for more in the days ahead.

Looks like a TOWIE (The Only Way Is Essex) fan. Will he have fake tan too? ;)

Seriously though, the actual sculpting looks good. Just the style reminds me of current styles sported by many trash TV celebs of questionable intelligence.

Edit: Just remembered you're doing Blood Angels. It's perfect for the pretty boys. Just don't forget the blond highlights, fake tan, and plucked eyebrows :whistling:

Morning folks.

Thanks for all the lovely replies! Much like Heinrich, they keep my hobby batteries charged to capacity and my enthusiasm high. Glad to see that everyone seems to be enjoying themselves so far.

I've been slowly piecing together the command squad for my praetor over the last couple of weeks. Mini-conversions abound since I wanted them to be decently unique, so a bit of time spent there. Mostly the assault cannon. Seriously, censored.gif that thing. Still need to neaten him up a bit and drill the barrels but other than that, the Terminator command of the 59th stands complete.

Commanded by Praetor Braerion Vaughn

Fifth Element. Gary Oldman.

Honestly, while it's technically well done I don't see it for the IXth. That sort of cut is hyper-styled and I've always thought of them as being more au natural than that. Did you ever watch The OC? (I was a teen when it was on, shoot me). The characters Luke and Ryan, when their hair grew out a bit, that's how I picture BA. Or perhaps England rugby player Billy Twelvetrees when his gets to mid-length. Kind of generically handsome frat-boys with great hairlines who just it grow normally.

After your marvellous Night Lords it'll be interesting to see how this progresses, certainly ambtious with all the biggerising!

Nice use of the Abaddon Model. The head looks kinda wonky though...everything else looks good, even the assault cannon arm.

I was so excited when i saw this thread. Great start to the project guys (two of my favourite hobbyists making BA's and Fists, what's not to love?) and i agree with Sockwithaticket, i always thought that the Blood Angels wouldn't worry much about their hair (no offense)

Lol thanks for all the hair comments guys. The vision I have for my company is one of twinned vanity and brutality. The Blood Angels are artisan warriors. They embrace the ideals of the Imperium and the wondrous works of science and technology, but lets not forget that they come from a world of cannibal mutants and radioactive nightmare monsters. They are savage survivalists raised up to the heavens and given glorious new forms. Though their skin may be unblemished and their hair fine, their souls will always be capable of savagery and violence on par with any of their more notorious cousins. To that end, here's a peak at the newest WIP reinforcements:

I'd love to see a close up of that sgt. Are you doubling their legs up at the thigh and the calf? what thickness are you using?

Here's the close-ups of Sergeant Nerva as requested Dan:

Can't remember the thickness off the top of my head, I'll track it down for those who are interested. Comments, Cristicism and Suggestions appreciated as always. Cheers!

Awesome looking Terminators Heinrich! The combination of Phoenix Guard and Justaerin bits looks great. They work perfectly together (plus you can't go wrong with some III Legion goodness ;) ). This project has already inspired me to get back to my Emperor's Children and you haven't even painted anything yet :P

@Flint: that's one good looking cataphractii squad, girl. Dang. I'm impressed with the assault cannon fix. That must've been very hard to do. I agree about he MkIII helemt looking a little wonky on abby's body, but overall i so like where this is going. Totes like, I should say. msn-wink.gif

@Heinrich: I'm with you on the hair cut. The blood angels are totally flamboyant in their hairdo's, in my book. If you look at the bare heads of the sanguinary guard kit, their hair style is an exact copy of the curly 'do that Pompeius Magnus had, and he was the vainest general of all time.
Also, man I am continuously impressed with your plasticard skills, and that bionic leg is just stellar. Very inspirational.

Edit: Question: just how do you make those plasticard washers so incredibly smooth? The plastic around them doesn't seem to have been sanded, so... how?

Thanks dude! I'll try and make a tutorial here when I get a chance, all I use is a hobby knife though and just shave it down to flush with the leg armor.

Brother Heinrich I tried to do the same with terminators and failed massively so I am very impressed with what you have achieved there.

Thanks man, here's how I did the kit-splice:

First I threw a small square of .60mm plasti-card (same thickness I use on the leg spacers) in there to space up the Justaerin torso so it can clear clear the Phoenix Guard hip armor plates.

Then I just green-stuff a simple armor plate to cover up the spacer and make everything look seamless and Terminator-y.

Here's the complete squad:
