"His loyalty couldn't be bought at any price; but it could be rented remarkably cheaply."

- Inquisitor Allendyne, after the execution of Rogue Trader Parnis Vermode for trafficking in interdicted Xenos artifacts.

"We are at War with forces too terrible to comprehend. We cannot afford mercy for any of its victims too weak to take the correct course. Mercy destroys us; it weakens us and saps our resolve. Put aside all such thoughts. They are not worthy of Inquisitors in the service of Our Emperor. Praise His name for in our resolve we only reflect his purpose of will."

- The Book of Exorcisms, the Verses of Inquisitor Enoch

"I carry with me an Inquisitorial Seal. It is a small, unassuming object contained in a neat box of Pluvian obsidian. It is a modest thing. Relatively plain, adorned with a single motif and a simple motto. Yet with this little object I can sign the death warrant of an entire world and consign a billion souls to Oblivion."

- Thraviam Flast, Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus

Welcome, one and all to the second edition of our Inquisitorial hobby challenge! As the title nicely suggests, this challenge will be all about Henchmen, these courageous (or mad) underlings that carry out the missions given to them by their Inquisitor. While some Henchmen have never even met their master and, in some cases, do not even know that they work for the Holy Inquisition, they are nevertheless a vital part of an Inquisitor's entourage, however far removed they are from their lord.

The aim of this challenge is for each participant to build and paint a model representing an Inquisitorial Henchman of their choosing, though you are also encouraged to create a bit of background fluff for your character.

Vows will be accepted from now until 2nd March 12 PM GMT. The challenge will then truly start, running until 31st March 12 PM GMT. As soon as you post your vow, you may start on your challenge, so no need to wait for the 31st!

Once the challenge is over, a poll will be posted and members of the community will be able to vote for their favourite model.

Please keep in mind that despite the variety and depth of the artwork and fluff concerning Inquisitors and their Henchmen, all entries must abide by the B&C rules, which means that no Xenos will be allowed.

On another note, and differently from the last challenge, there will be some kind of little prize for the winner(s). However, in true Inquisitorial fashion, I cannot reveal what this might be, so you'll just have to wait and see devil.gif

Finally, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to PM me or post them below!

Q&A:

Q: Is it limited to a single model or can we submit a group of Henchmen?

A: You are limited to a single Henchman model.

Q: Are in progress pictures needed?

A: No, they are not needed, but are definitely encouraged.

Q: What is being looked for: an out of the box guy and here is my henchman, a kitbash to make a henchman, or sculpting all or part or a model?

A: It is up to you to decide how you want to build your Henchman. I'd definitely encourage people to go all-out and create something truly unique, but that is all down to each participants' spare time and motivation.

Q: Is this going to be judged at all?

A: Yes, there will be a voting poll after the deadline has been reached.

Q: After the creating is done will there be a painting challenge for the henchmen?

A: Painting the Henchman is part of the challenge, as mentioned above.

Q: Last time you did you this challenge, did people enjoy it?

A: You tell me thumbsup.gif

Right, so to get the ball rolling, here's my vow!

I, Dosjetka, humble servant of the Holy Ordos, vow to represent both in physical and text form an Inquisitorial Henchman by 31st March 2015. If I should fail, may the Emperor have mercy on my soul.

Am I able to re-enter my failed attempt from last time? Arvaan Holtt deserves a second chance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Do ya pay good?" he asked, plonking himself down at my table, taking a swig of his beer.

"Pardon", I replied, a quisical look on my face.

Drawing one of the many knives about his person, he began a round of five-finger skillet.

"I said, do ya pay good?", he repeated, looking me directly in the eye.

"Who said I'm hiring?" I enquire, holding his gaze.

"I'm good with knives" he said, maintaining eye contact, "Real good, had lots and lots of practice." His pace with the knife has steadily increased, he hasn't cut himself yet. "I'm better with guns though, don't recall the last time someone out-shot me," he stated. His composure suggested he at least believed it.

"Why should I hire you?", I ask.

"I just told ya, weren't ya listn'n?", he crudely replied, " 'spose ya'd like a demo then". Before I could reply, he was on his feet, tossing two of his knives across the bar. As the knives left his hands, his pistols seemed to appear in his grip, he loosed two rounds apiece, each knife jumping twice in the air. He was seated again, playing five-finger skillet before his knives had hit the ground. I looked at him, it was hard not to break my passive look and give away how impressed I was.

"So, do ya pay good?", we smirked at me.

"Yeah, I pay well....", he stood, scraping his chair loudly and cutting me off, and sculled his beer.

"I'm in, when do we leave?" he asked as a loud belch left his lips.

"Don't you want to hear about the job?" I questioned.

"Do I get ta use me guns?" I nodded.

"Then it doesn't matter to me," he stated, sauntering off to collect his knives.

"What's your name?" I call after him.

"Holtt, Arvaan Holtt, but most call me Skillet," he replies over his shoulder.

I've been wanting to use that head on a special forces-type guy for so long, but he wouldn't suit my shrineworld garrison.

Funny, I've got that head earmarked for my Squat (jokaero) ! Now, Crusaders, Acolytes, DCA hmmmm.....?

I, oldschoolsoviet, vow to complete at least one (if not more) Henchman, of the Ordo Malleus Inquistor Decim's retinue by 31st March 2015, or forever repent before the Hereticus dogs.

Sneaky peek on page 9 of my WIP thread link in my sig of my Inq beginnings, but this will prompt me to get cracking on hopefully.

WILL THERE BE PIPS/BANNERS ? I LIEK DEM.

An excellent idea!

I can't wait to see the little feller. :)

(Perhaps in a future challenge? A Jokaero/counts-as-Jokaero one?)
