Jumping off the back of a Stormraven

Here is an interesting thing I'd like to get clarification on -

A DC Dread with a magna-grapple drops off the back of a zooming Stormraven...

It deviates and falls into terrain...

OK, since it deviated, the Stormraven rules say the "units" models (one DC dread in this case) takes a dangerous terrain check...

But the DC dread now has move through cover because of the magna-grapple...

What happens if it fails the dangerous terrain check? Would there be 2 checks in this case? One for deviating, one for the terrain? Would nothing happen because of the grapple?

( I had a game last night where this came up, it got complicated, so we decided that the DC dread instead took no damage, but because there was some confusion on whether the terrain - a necron ruin - could be considered impassable or not, we decided to roll on the mishap table, and it went back into ongoing reserves - note the rule in the codex says if a model in the unit cannot be placed, the unit/model is eliminated instead, rather than mishapping, we knew that, but since we could not figure out if the DC dread was immobilized or not by a roll of 1, WTH, roll on the other table to get a resolution and move on - making a short story long, this happened turn 2, turn 3 the dread walks on...turn 4 assaults a drop pod...turn 5 assaults a knight...if he'd stayed on the table where initially dropped/deviated, he would have stood around and either got assaulted by the knight earlier in the game, or just died horribly by some other fashion, or just who knows...overall, he earned about 3 maelstrom points in the game, which helped, but was not the game winner).

It has move through cover.  So it automatically passes all dangerous terrain checks.  It will not fail a dangerous terrain check.  Ever.

There are two different dangerous terrain tests involved.  One due to scatter when using Skies of Fury and on when landing in difficult terrain.  Both of which the magna-dread would automatically pass.

Is move through cover worded such that you automatically pass ALL dangerous terrain checks? Or just the ones actually caused by terrain? It would be more logical that you pass the one from scattering into terrain, but still have to make the one you get just from scattering.

Also, unless I am very mistaken, if you mishap when jumping out of a stormraven, you don't roll on the table, you are just destroyed :o

Nope, if you scatter when jumping off a zooming Stormraven, you are supposed to take dangerous terrain checks for each model in the unit.  If you scatter to a location where at least one model in the unit cannot be placed (I suppose they mean onto or next to an enemy unit or impassable terrain or board edge), the unit is removed from play (eliminated).

In my game, I was not treating any terrain as impassable (after all, I'm playing BAs with lots of jump-pack troops on a board with essentially no area terrain), but since that was not clear at that point of the game, we decided to strike an agreement to put the dread (spider dread swung from his steely thread out of play) into ongoing reserves and keep playing.  It was a compromise in his favor...

Models with Move Through Cover "automatically pass Dangerous Terrain tests" So yes, a Dreadnought with MTC can jump without worrying about DT tests

From the rule book:

"Furthermore, a model with the Move Through Cover special rule automatically passes Dangerous Terrain tests."

It does not matter how many dangerous terrain tests he has to make, what caused them or why.  It is automatically passed.  Every time.

He jumps off tha back of the stormraven and scatters.  Dangerous terrain test happens and it automatically passes.  The model lands in dificult terrain, dangerous terrain check, pass.
