Does anyone here miss the FW Exorcist?

I use a FW Exorcist as my main Exo. My secondary is a terribad scratchbuild from a Mk1 rhino and a Harrier Jumpjet (naturally when the Deimos rhino came out, I swapped my Exorcist pod onto one so the two kind of match).

Yup. Actually I had one of the FW, GW, & a whirlwind to be my three.

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed.

All painted blue I assume? :P

I thought the FW Exo was pretty cool, but not for me. The GW one may have issues but nothing quite says "the Sisterhood at war" then an couple of angry tanks with organs slapped on the back!

I got 3 of them a few years back when I revisited my SoBs for the second time. I much prefer them to the big organ gun. It's sad that they're no longer available.

Although FW seems to be running down its stocks of SoB models, much like GW does... A sign of things to come perhaps?

One can dream...

Not really. The GW one brought me into the army and I like how different it is from the Whirlwind. We need more distinctiveness from Marines, not less. Leave the "realism" to games like Bolt Action, I want a crazy space opera where I can enjoy some escapism instead of being stared at by history or everyday life.

But that's just me and my heretical ways.

The main problem I have with the organ version is that the missiles supposedly come out of the organ pipes, when for the pipes to work as a organ, they'd have to be obstructed at the top, thus preventing a missile from firing.

Thats GW logic, it defies the laws of everything logical.

Oh yeah, the problems in logic with 40k aren't psychic Orks and extra-galactacal bugs with guns. Its such unrealistic things like organs with two types of pipes (musical and lethal ones) or even more out there, something like valve-like retractable obstructions for pipes!huh.png

I have two GW Organ Exorcists and I'm in the middle of the process of beginning to build a Conversion of another Organ Exorcist, just because I don't want them all to look the same.

Never was interested in the FW ones and never would've imagined that many Sister-Players (which is arguably a very specific taste in itself) to be interested in them.

What do you non-Organ preferring folks see in the Forgeworld model, that couldn't be replaced by a Whirlwind?

The whirlwind carries four large missiles. The Exorcist Launcher has sixteen small ones. The aesthetic is actually very different between the two. I also have a soft spot for MLRS designs. Finally, I had my scratch-built one first and wanted the second to match it.

Does the Whirlwind no longer have the "ten rocket" option?

Yeah it does.  The main difference between the two is that one has cylindrical missile tubes and the other cuboid, but in this hobby, aesthetics are everything.

The current kit is as Furyou says...when I built mine, it had two different rocket pod options, lots of little ones or 4-6 big ones (don't remember, I went with the greater quantity of smaller rockets option, for aesthetic reasons). //edit// wait, the ten-missile option shown below is still in the kit? GW only shows a four-missile option in its advertising...// If you have access to the older WW kit and build it with the more numerous rocket option:

med_gallery_13203_846_315053.jpg

it makes a fine exorcist, provided you bling it up with sisters iconography. You could even combine it with an immolator kit and mount the rocket pod assembly in place of the MM/HF turret.

That's a very popular mistake, but if you own one, look down into the pit where the servitor is working. The missile tubes are actually arranged in a semicircle in there, the rockets do not come from the organ pipes!

It's not shown in the pics but the blurb underneath says you can fit the WW with Castellan or Vengeance missile payload, not sure which is which but you definitely get both 4 and 10 missile options.

A buddy of mine is doing a kitbash Baneblade/exorcist super heavy. I will try and get a pic of it and share with you all. His conversion skills DEFINATELY pays the bills, goes for the thrills, or something else that rhymes.

I love the organ, I wish there was an FAQ out there about it being a turret, but I love the aesthetic. I always sort of imagined the missiles and tubes have speakers built in for the organ noise.

how can the organ be a turret when it's NOT the source of the missiles?

/edit/the FW version IS a turret, so it's best to treat the organ tank the same way...

/edit again/ Here's an extreme close-up of the actual missile tubes. There are three of them, two have black-tipped (sorry, makes it less than ideal for showing their location) missiles loaded, the third one is empty (and the servitor is posed about to reload that one [red body, black nose on the missiles) I don't know what matches the in-game performance and the fluff less, the fact that there are only three tubes, or the rack of reloads that only holds about 4 missiles...

Since you asked, The servitor pit is a loading mechanism, the inner arc of pipes are the launch tubes... Those receptacles the servitor slots ammo into retract when loaded, and there are more than the four you have pointed out.

As to the obvious retort re: mechanically unsound design. It's a representation of a future fantasy tank, designed during the worst excesses of Neo-Citadelism.

Or perhaps the four tubes are about the average ROF of the tank, and a 5 or 6 shot turn is the servitor getting really efficient and reloading before the end of the shooting phase because the organist is playing his jam.

Three...not four. And I didn't ask msn-wink.gif There's no place for the "receptacles" to retract to, under your theory, the missiles would have to go down, over, then back up...even in 40k, a rack of four missiles and a servitor to unload the rack of four missiles into three slots (why would you need more than one?) that then suck the missiles inside into an autoloader for eight or ten launch tubes...makes no sense! OTOH, three launchers would be about the right number for a single servitor to continuously reload while enabling a sustained rate of fire.

IIRC the fluff in the IA2 book says the Organ Pipe one is a Relic. The FW was more mass produced for the sisters.

And I have used the FW one to great success in previous editions.
