++ March of the Legions: XVI Legion ++

Recommended Posts

Wonderful! In that case...

I, StruManChu, accept my role in this.
I promise to lead the XVI Legion into the zone of war, and conduct them to glory.
I will do so no matter the ferocity or ingenuity of the foe.
I pledge my honor to the XVI Legion.
On this matter, and by the Warmaster, I swear.

Picture #2, for a second there, I thought he had a cool wrist-mounted Blade...

Me too! That's the first thing I thought haha.

He looks awesome though Flint. And thanks for the quotes, you reminded me how great a character Torgaddon was.

I think my favorite part of his smart-assery is the fact that he's the Captain of the 2nd company.

He's only outranked by Abaddon and Horus himself. You don't get to be the 2nd Captain of a Legion without being an absolute hardass. That being said, I love that Torgaddon has found plenty of ways to amuse himself while doing so.

I think the reasons that Loken and Torgaddon got along so well is they seemed more human than other astartes....Abaddon is a SAVAGE And Aximand just seem like all he wanted was acceptance and approval from Horus...so it makes sense that Loken and Torgaddon were amazing friends

A sad but honest attempt at the False Gods cover Luna Wolves will be made. False Gods help me.

Before The Siege, before The Black, something inside me was at war. I felt it first as a Wolf of Luna: my twin hearts seemingly beating in unison. But like so much of that time, all was not how it seemed. My two hearts did not agree. I likened my internal struggle to that of two wolves vying for the same prey. Wolves of different packs: one of Light, and one of Dark. We fought for The Emperor of Mankind, and the wolf of Light was well fed. I was Astartes: designed and destined to be the pinnacle of human existence. But there was a great flaw in my design. And in this rotten corpse of a flaw, the wolf of Dark fed. And grew. Until his bark was louder than the others, his bite: harder. Until he was able to claim the prey the wolf of Light had fed on for so long. Until he was able to consume my soul. I am a Son of Horus. I am Lost, and I am Damned.

Sounds like me as a marine. Likes leading, but is a joker and a friend first most.

Humor is a good morale booster.

...am I the only one who could see Tarik sneaking in when Abbadon is sleeping and cut off his topknot that he's so fond of?

Arkathas Ythedon

Consul-Delegatus of the Sons of Horus, Chieftain of the Catulan Reavers, Commander of the Ikon , Voice of the Dark Compliance

gallery_79873_10424_4798.jpg

The following depictions of a Sons of Horus Chieftain are based on the few extant images from the Dark Compliance of Moab. This unknown officer of the first company was later identified as Arkathas Ythedon, who was given the command over the Eclipse class battlecruiser Ikon aswell as the rank of Pērāḷarākavum-tūtaraka (or Consul-Delegatus in high gothic) after the Massacre of Isstvan V. Also known as Scourge of the Cyclops Cluster and Voice of the Dark Compliance, this emissary of the Warmaster stands for the cruelty of the Sons of Horus.

"Bow before Him who is the Warmaster,

abase yourselves before His truth.

Serve those who serve Him,

harken only to their words.

The Imperium is His. Mankind is His.

You are His.

Submit to the Warmaster, or die by His hand.

There is no other choice, and you will be given the

chance to kneel but once.

Horus is Lord. Horus is Death."

- Arkathas Ythedon, during the Scouring of the Cyclops Cluster, 006.M31

gallery_79873_10424_83720.jpg

Ythedon is depicted here wearing a variant sub-pattern of MkIV Astartes power armour, initially issued to Reaver squads and their commanders around the time of the Isstvan V Dropsite Massacre (see "Reaver sub-pattern armour, mechanicum-artificer-data 24564.54a). The Reaver pattern incorporates elements of armour design reminiscent of the warring gang-tribes of Cthonia and two Eyes of the Warmaster icons. Note: Charatran pattern power-axe.

Urgh... I'll post pics in the morning, but can you guys remind me not to try and be clever with a brand new Xacto blade while I'm not really paying attention to what I'm doing? My guitar hand thanks you in advance...

So after last night's cryptic update, here's some WIP pics...

gallery_67188_10247_81004.jpg

I'm using the SoH Command set to create my own version of Maloghurst for use until FW decide to grace us all with the backlog of Character Series minis from Books I & II. I was actually enjoying trimming this guy down, except for the spiky shin armour...

gallery_67188_10247_179840.jpg

However... While chopping his leg off using the above-mentioned brand new Xacto blade (and trying to watch Community on Netflix at the same time), I slipped, and the damn thing went straight into my finger, really deep. Cries of 'Blood for the Blood God' were heard throughout my neighbourhood, which is annoying, because we're not doing rhe XII for another few months.

gallery_67188_10247_29075.jpg

It feels ok this morning, except when I try and use it. There's a good chance it may still be bleeding, in which case I'll need stitches. If that is the case, then I'm probably out for the month which is really upsetting.

You have to be really careful those fresh blades. It's easy to forget how sharp they are after using one that's gotten a bit dull for a while, and I have the scars to prove it.

Go have that looked at and make sure that 1) you didn't damage anything like a tendon that could permanently affect your range of motion, and 2) you don't get an infection.

Captain Golyar Holth, XVIth Legion, Sons of Horus

Commanding his formation "the Takers" Captain Holth was among the attack forces at Isstvan III. As the formation is not seen in engagements at Isstvan V or later, it is assumed he was killed in action against loyalist forces. Holth is seen here in Mk IV plate shortly after the Legion retrofit to "sea green" pattern variation. His Imperial awards and campaign decorations are seen as well as Cthonian glyph markings on the right knee and helmet.

"Some ask why "the Takers"? It is simple. Some take heads and that is fine for them, others take lives and it makes them satisfied. There are others out there that think bigger and they take cities and even worlds to quench a thirst inside themselves. Not us. We take heads, we take lives, we take belief and hope and dreams, then we take cities and hives and worlds. That is why we are "the Takers", because we take everything" - CPT Golyar Holth XVIst Legion

Et voila, J'ai fini!

I mean, DONESIES!

Fluff:

He was Champion, once, Reflected Brother Anomen and now, now he didn't know what he was; what his purpose was, however, was clear.

When he was inducted into the Legion, all wore the White and Black of the Luna Wolves. He was Lieutenant when their Gene Father was found and Champion when all became his Sons.

Across thousands of battlefields he fought. Indefatigable in purpose; ever putting to sword the Most powerful, the Bravest, the Best - The Champions of the Enemy. Never once has he lost. Always, when Horus or Legion Command set a target for him, he would bring back their heads - if they indeed had one.

Unerringly did he uphold the ideals of the Legion - of the Great Crusade. When the Lodges came, he ignored them. In part because Captain Loken had forbidden all under his command to participate but also because they went against the teachings of the Emperor.

For Months he trained aboard the Gladitorial Ships of the World Eaters with peers of the Other Legions.  While no Xenos or Non-Imperial had never bested him, it is only during his stay with the sons of Angron did he truly have his skills tested and finally be bested.

So humbled, he was driven with singular purpose to continually surpass himself; to prove himself to the Others, himself and least of all Horus.

Focused as he was that he was blinded to the subtle changes occurring within his Legion. Already a Solitary person not even the greater lack of camaraderie between him and the newest recruits of the Legion seemed odd.

Now he stood overlooking the battlefield-to-be, armor repainted the colors of old and steels himself for what must be done.

There was no hesitation, there was no time, the traitors of mankind had come and their lives would he claim.

+++

Depicted here is Legion Champion Brother Anomen bedecked in his Artificer-Wrought battle plate and Master-Crafted Power Sword, armor repainted in the colors of the Luna Wolves of old after the Treachery of Horus and his Co-conspirators had come to light; one of the few Luna Wolves to have not been present at the bombing of Istvaan III having been on route when the Traitors sprung their trap.

If that's at me Recon (I'm guessing it is as you said "so far" and the ones above are complete) then it's just Administratum grey over Mechanicum Standard, with Dawnstone in between.  I'll be highlighting in white.  That's how I did it for the first marine I did when I was going to do Luna Wolves, before changing my mind about 5 times :).  Funnily enough I bought this Mark IV command set to be Luna Wolves.

Great stuff so far guys and girls! Flint, your Torgaddon is brilliant!

As it turns out, the cut in my finger is nothing like as bad as I'd feared, which I'm obviously very happy about.

As such, I've been able to do a bit more work and, short of a bit of green stuff, my take on Maloghurst is pretty much built.

gallery_67188_10247_133498.jpg

I may yet do a headswap, because this one is just a little too generic, and I may add the Bolter as well, because WYSIWYG. I'm not sure he's 'twisted' or chaos-ey enough, but he'll do as a stand-in till the real one's out...
