>> +SOME BELIEVE THE SPACE BETWEEN THE STARS TO BE SILENT. IT IS NOT. IT IS FULL OF THE SCREAMS OF THE WARP.+

Captain {XXXXXXXXX},

<<<<<

Through your faith in the Emperor, I expect all is well on {XXXXXXXXXX}.

<<<<<

Per your request regarding the iconography of the Chapter of Space Marines referring to themselves as the "Emperor's Saints", I have directed my servitors to capture images of a few of their regulars, as well as a Xeno that I think you might find familiar?

<<<<<

I need not remind you that these images are not to be distributed outside of our conversation.

<<<<<

It is my opinion that their claims to be a lost company of {XXXXXXXXXXX} may be valid. Their commanders certainly adorn themselves in a similar sartorial aspect.

<<<<<

Again I remind you, my investigation of this Chapter is ongoing, and may result in Excommunicatum, and therefore I might need call upon your {XXXXXXXXX} to Purge them from their Heresy.

My goal is to have something new to show y'all every "Warhammer Wednesday" so watch this space! I also like to idea of telling a little story between Inquisitor Impetro Respondi and his mysterious contact. biggrin.png

These 3 guys are basically finished, although the bases are a bit WIP.

They're the first miniatures I've painted and finished in over 10 years! I used to give all my guy a name, and I'm continuing that tradition.

"Viktor" has a custom shoulder pad, basically a bit of plastic strip to make a bar around the bottom edge. I want to try something similar, but around the inside edge on the next marine I do.

Anyways, comments are welcome. I could use some advice on basing especially. These are the first minis I've put on cork, and the first ones where I've painted the gravel on the base to get a more unified look.

Nice freehand. One thing... Crowbill is in Viktor's picture. Viktor only appears in the fourth picture, atm.

Good catch Olis. All fixed now. Thanks :)

Haha, yes well Joker, I've kinda "returned" I suppose. More to come, especially much better pics of my original minis. Watch this space.

THAT FEATHER DESIGN!!!!

Please share how it was done, I want it!

My trick to painting fine lines like this is to NOT use a brush. I use a toothpick! Bamboo ones work best, but if you don't have those, sharpen a regular one with a knife. Just dip into the paint, blot the excess, and draw like you would with a pencil!

Captain {XXXXXXXXX},

<<<<<

In response to your query about the Emperor's Saints army structure and whether or not they deploy a mounted assault force similar to your {XXXXXXXXXXXXXX}, the answer is yes.

<<<<<

They are referred to as the "Cross Bones", and are as far from codex as I have ever seen. They are less a squad as a group of independent individuals, from their markings to their heavily customized bikes.

<<<<<

STC strictures are blatantly ignored, and even supported by their tech priests and Mechicus. For example, you will notice the unique use of bolters, and the removal of various STC parts.

<<<<<

The data image I have sent you is the mildest of the modifications. I was told that Cpl Hector is new to the Cross Bones, and hasn't "earned his patch" as of yet. Heresy? Perhaps...

I painted "Hector" here oh, some 13 years ago I suppose? I started with a bike that I had built and fully painted just like the box, part for part. It was clean. It was perfect. It was BORING.

So I, gutted the front armor, and mounted a few extra bolters to replace the boxy things that came with the original kit. A kinda sloppy conversion, as there is no visible way to see how the bolters would have been incorporated into the bike. They look glued on, because well...they are! I still like him though. He originally had a banner placed on the back of the bike. I have no idea where it is now.

Next week I'll post another bike, and you'll be able to see where I moved on from this point!

BS XB BlackEagle

This is Black Eagle, a member of the Cross Bones biker squad of the Emperor's Saints. He's a combination of parts from the OG early 90's bike kit, Ravenwing, Space Wolves, and Imperium backpack, and some string (rope). This was where I took the next step on my bolter cowl conversion, grounding the bolters to the steering assembly to keep them from looking like they were floating, like on Hector above.

I also wanted to push the Native American them a bit farther than the DA do. Hope you like it.

But y'all are probably focusing in on the warped base, as well as the semi melted and split tires! Well this guy was the one mini in my case the actually got warped in the house fire. (read all about it in the link in my signature). I have considered repairing the damage, but I think I'll just leave him as is.

Next week I'll post my last bike, and my most ambitious conversion (more like a kit bash). Stay tuned.

Captain {XXXXXXXXX},

<<<<<

I have one more datapic to share with you regarding  the mounted assault force of the Emperor's Saints. A mounted chapain, named Vincent Propero, who is very much like the chaplains in your XXXXXXXXX squads. As I'ave intimated to you before, the marines in this chapter make do with what they have, and so thier gear is battle worn, patched, but extremely functional.

<<<<<

The amount of weaponry that Vincent carries into any given battle is enough to make any Chapter Commander proud. I am glad to say that Vincent, at least, also arms himself with the words of our Emperor as well.

Thanks for all the nice comments and likes, it keeps me going!

This is Vincent Propero, Chaplain of my Crossbones Bike Squad for my Emperor's Saints chapter. He's the third and final biker that I have created, and by far my most complete, considering the look I was going for. I loaded him down with every bag, backpack and book bit I could find at the time. This is old metal stuff, but when you could actually BUY bits on order from GW. Ah well...

Lots of little details, guns and stuff. A hand swap. A SW head. But my favorite bit is the trimmed auspex on the handlebars, as well as "REPENT" written all over the place.

You may recall my earlier transmission discuss the ad hoc nature of the Saint's wargear and equipment. I found a even better example, which almost mimics the xenos Orks in practice.

>>>>>

In the datapic you can see Saint Myles wielding his chainsword, and a Storm Shield...that is a door from a Mark I Pattern Rhino.

>>>>>

It would be easy to laugh, but it works, and Myles has gone to numerous battles in the name of the Emperor using this shield to great effect. I'm not sure an Astartes from the Ultramarines chapter would approve, but these "Saints" are growing on me.

Sorry for the delay, but I've let myself be distracted as of late. More pictures in my library to share and coming soon. I'm a bit embarrassed by that huge gap in the seams of the jump pack, and the amateur weathering, but this guy is way old, and I can do better, and will do when my house is finally rebuilt!

No problem, brother. Always good to see you paying us a return visit. Too few of the old guard are still frequenting these halls, more's the pity. Anyhoo, old as it may be, that's decent work. Perhaps we may get to see newer works in the future? :)

Olis Whenever I can get a area set up for painting, I will! But my first post on this thread has the 3 (yeah only 3!) I've managed to paint this year. Everything else? From the early 2000's heh.

Love that shield, it has a very 'Blanche-esqe" vibe with the hand painting.

Any thoughts on a Dread later down the road? With all those flat surfaces, it seems like it would make a great canvas for some more of that freehand. Just a thought, brother. :)

Keep on keeping on, man. Lookin' good.

Thanks Hyaenidae! Nobody has ever called my stuff "Blanche-esque", and while I don't see, I value the compliment!

I do indeed have a dread painted up, and he has quite a bit of freehand, maybe I'll shoot pictures of him next. He's an old-school all metal dread too!

It's been a while, so I thought I would throw this fellow up here.  At the time I painted this, I considered it to be as good as I would ever be capable of, but now I look at it and want to redo all of those highlights with better blends!

Never did do the custom banner for the back, so please ignore the slot. ;)
