Thanks for the kind critique guys.

One question:

Would you free hand other stuff on the chaplain or the U symbol is enough?

There is not enough room for anything to show nice without him looking busy but maybe another set of eyes can change my point of view?

I'd say put some little squiggly lines of text in one of the lower corners of shoulder pad, just to round it out a bit. Not much, but just a little.

Also, this guy is so zarking awesome. Perfect retro 40k goodness.

"The Psycho" like so?

EDIT: I also completed the jump pack and all purity seals and scrolls. What remains is the highlights of the black armour and of course the base.

Hi folks. A bit more wipping of the chapie!

http://i.imgur.com/0ekmWFd.jpg

Although I am against it due to having based a whole army already with handcrafted bases, I decided to give him a 32mm base cause he is top heavy.

I already added balast and a metal disk/ring whatever under the base for extra weight and stability. Instead of removing the 25 slotta base, I glued it on the 32mm one and then built around the 25mm with cork and sand/balast. I think he does not look bad at all.

He is getting there, a couple of evenings more I hope!

Hi everyone.

At last Chaplain Andronikos is finished. I tried to improve presentation a bit so some picture editing happened as well.

Here he is!

I hope you like him. Now on to new things. Let's see what to paint...

EDIT: yeah I saw today that the base around the rims has not been painted black. Oh well I will replace these pics when Chaplain Andronikos is completely done.

Hi guys,

My painting sessions had their ups and downs this year with not a lot to show for it.

Today I have started work on the Imperial Knight again!

Mostly basecoating leadbecher all over but also planning the colours of his house.

Let's see what the future will bring...

At the moment I am fighting with brass all over the place... I did the mistake of doing all grey metals followed by washes and then deciding to apply brass.

Oh well...!

Hi all, I am back again! Painting mood comes and goes easily doesn't it?

So I have done some work. Pictures are rough but you will get an idea...

Librarian. No conversions whatsoever. It is a fantastic model that has been sitting on the self for a long time. I just added a plastic shoulder pad from the new Ultramarines upgrade kit.

Tactical Grav-cannon 2

So yeah not a lot but I can say that my 2 Tactical squads with plasma gun and combi-plasma sergeant have finaly got a fiting heavy weapon!

These squads are typicaly fielded one with a rhino and the other with a drop pod. They have now good firepower, enough to threaten a medium sized squad or even a terminator squad. Vehicles I think are not easily downed by a single grav-cannon but for AV13 or less the plasma guns can add to the damage and the tactical doctrine can always add more.

Some WIPs of things to follow:

The WIP librarian has been undercoated and on my to-do list since the plastic command squad sprue was released, ten or more years waiting!!! Lets hope I will finish him before another ten years pass...

I can finally call the devastators done for now. I have a sergeant and 4 lascannons, 2 of which belong in tactical squads.

The long term target is to paint another 2 lascannons in order to have 2 in tacticals and 4 in the tenth devastator squad of the second company.

The 3rd librarian is having his basic colours laid out for now so some progress is being made finally!

After he is done, I hope within the next week, next step will be to build a few veterans with special weapons and magnetised arms. They will be the new command squad of the second company. I will also need an apothecary model and a new standard bearer.

I am back with more work in progress! Last week I was busy with the librarian but also worked on an old and 2 new veterans.

The librarian had some highlights on the gold and the tabard. The face is more or less done. To tell you the truth I tried doing the face twice and this is the second try.

I am not very happy but any more tries and his face will become a blob of paint so this is where I stop. The blue is washed and ready for highlights. The tabard is more or less ready but also needs the black lines to show the rank of the librarian. Just for variance I will add a black line across and close to the lower end of the tabard without any semi-circles or other details (he is probably just a codicier).  I will try to make it show like cloth and not like metal so the black line should be greyer... we will see!

I hope you like him.

On the veterans:

I started work on an old model before the veterans where a thing. He is a kitbash out of the old tactical and the command sprues and he is equipped with a meltagun.

I do not know if he will join the strnguard or the command squad but since he has discarded his helmet (probably damaged on battle) he can fit in both squads easily.

http://i.imgur.com/PvjU3cU.jpg

The other 2 veterans where kitbashed last week. Since I have been using a command squad with 4 meltaguns for the last two editions, I think it was high time since I completed a proper squad. As I sometimes feel that plasmaguns are called for, I decided to magnetise the guns on the hands. I used 2 magnets of 2mm diameter on each veteran, one on the arm and one on the hand. They alone are not enough to hold the weight of the weapons especialy since they hold old metal meltaguns but the left arm seems quite capable to keep them in place. After these 2 are finished I will start also work one 2 plasmaguns as well. These guys where a kitbash of the old tactical sprue and the new sternguard sprue as I try to update the old bland tacticals with some current bling!

According to the Codex Astartes, the command squad has usually veteran marines fromt the company the serve. Their status can be shown with either gold helmets and gold shoulder pad rims to identify them as command members of the second company. I was thinking on doing a white helmet to signify the veteran status but use gold rims for the second company membership. Any opinions?

So what do you think?

Yeah marcusc I have a whole squad of these guys. They are the very old devastator squad back when you had different boxes depending on the chapter with 5 guys with 1 lascannon, 1 plasma cannon, 1 missile launcher, 1 heavy bolter and a sergeant with a raised powerfist. All full metal just when lead was banned! No I am not too old, lol I am just in my thirties.

This guy was the last member of the squad and I thought it fitting for him to lead the lascannons. Though he seems a bit skinnier and shorter than the other guys, I think he fits the squad nicely. About the pose...well there was not a lot I could do. He had a full metal body that could not be reshaped unless I cut him up pretty bad so the only pose left for a stern veteran sergeant would be checking out the battlefield with his scanners and guiding the squad without pointing his finger...! heheh.

Hi ladies and gents.

This is the list I have been working towards the last few months.

http://i.imgur.com/DQ7PNX7.jpg

I try to use the CAD as I believe is the most flexible using the Ultramarines tactics (which can later allow the use of Guilliman) and can bring more firepower via the use of the Skyhammer formation.

The problem is the 2 stormtalons, 250 points that I am not sure fit the list. Do you think they are too much? Maybe replace them with something else? There's plenty of slots left in the CAD for a lot of try outs.

Well I just finished the running librarian!

Here's some shots.

I just could not paint the librarius symbol with the horned skull on the shoulder pad no matter how many times I tried. It was pathetic, so I opened the Insignium Astartes for some inspiration and decided on the symbol that would normaly be on the tabard with two lighting bolts below it. It is not standard but the codex accepts deviations of this kind in order to trick the enemy doesn't it?

I also painted a sword below the librarius sumbol and on his left kneepad as a mark of exceptional skill in close combat. If he will live up to this honour marking it remains to be seen...

I hope he meets your expectations guys.

Hi guys,

No pictures today unfortunately as I do not have the camera with me and I do not want to bother you with mobile pics...

Progress has been made on the 3 command squad veterans. The metals are ready, the golds and the blues need a bit more work and the purity seals and tabards are half way there.

Also I have started work on a 5th lascannon carrier as I try to make a small 30k force without buying anything from FW for now (the only space left for warhammer models in my place is in the bathtub...). As the only vehicles I have that can threaten AV14 with ceramite are a Land Raider Phobos (painted), a Spartan and a Whirlwind Scorpius (upainted), I feel I need more lascannons on foot soldiers. The command squad after its completion can also dub as a support squad with melta for 30k.

Good night to you all!

Hi guys,

I did some work on the command squad veterans.

http://i.imgur.com/AYBIjkZ.jpg

They both hold their magnietised meltas. For now there is no plan to make plasmaguns of gravguns as my army needs the meltas more but 8th is just around the corner so...

http://i.imgur.com/oWekZ9P.jpg

Still need to highlight the blue and the guns, add markings, and finish the bases.

I have not decided yet the mottos on the scrolls as I have used heavily the "Ultra" till now and I do not want to resuse it...  Any ideas would be welcomed!

I hope you like them. I will need to make another 2 veterns with guns and an apothecary and a standard bearer also. I am thinking of magnetising the gun arm of the standard bearer as I want to use him as a plain gun veteran and show off the banner, decisions decisions...

Next on the painting table is either a lascannon devastator or a small vehicle to change the tone a bit. I will need to set up that airbrush again and it takes time...

Yeah, as I said if the weather gets better, and I can airbrush with open windows, then I will probably do a small vehicle and I did!

Here is a WIP of "ΕΡΙΝΥΑ X" or Erinya X in english.

The blue is complete and I added two white lines on the wings to break the blues. This is my favorite land speeder for apocalypse games.

It guides my whirlwinds in the Suppresion Force formation (apoc Damnos). It always uses the afterburners to fly becoming a difficult target to kill and thus lighting up targets for longer.

I will slowly add the rest of the details in the following days and hope to complete it by the end of next week.

Oooh and on Tuesday there will be an 8000pts per side apocalypse game in my place. I will try to take pictures and write up a report for you all.
