Ultra Competitive Inquisition, Death Watch & Sisters Combo

So another year, another tournament draws near, (April 19th for my next) and yet I'm already planning the force for the one following. :P

 

As it stands I'm trying to refind the list for the army but also make it beautiful.

A powerful and flexible list is one thing but when the army is just thrown together its horrid... For that reason I'm starting this plog for 3 reasons, 1 so I can get a little feedback around the force, 2 so i can show off (just kidding) and 3, the main reason is to get feedback around the look of the force and share cool modeling ideas.

 

Now I won't deny this is going to be a beardy list, in fact its so beardy its currently draped across its throne, leg over the throne arm, drinking a never ending Glass of "Whine", sampling the finest cheeses from a silver tray carried by The old Bearer of Broken Matt Ward (needed a new job after leaving gw. ;) ) whilst atop a mountain of broken Codexs surounded by a moat of Tears...

 

Should give you an Idea of what to expact bu then inquisition don't play fair. ;)

 

 

In this force i am still tweeking things but I will give you the over view.

I will be using the Blood Angels Dex in order to get acess to the Flesh Tearers Formation from Shield of Baal.

With this I will take 1 HQ, 1 Troop and 1 Fast attack plus The Formation which Allows another HQ, 1 Compulsory Fast Attack plus 5 Additional Fast Attack. All these however will be used as Death Watch.

All my Libararians in the force will be shreeking for now though I am considering allowing them to give my squads rerolls, luckily though they also can tank for my squads in TDA.

Captain Karlean lets me reroll reserve Rolls for my Flyer and pods.

Sisters and inqusition of the Ordo malleus already have very close ties so this still works.

 

Sisters of Battle is the Main force of the army, to those that don't know, Sister Squads get prefered enemy, Canoness gets similar, Retributors get Rending and Dominors Ignore Cover.

 

Now the Avenger Strike Fighter i am trying to Replace With A Storm Raven and if i can somehow work in an assassin however the force as it currently sits is below.

I don't know whether nearly/ultra competitive can ever accurately describe a list that heavily features inquisition and sisters of battle. That said this is one of the harder lists I've seen. Very creative use of the fleshtearers FOC. This should have a pretty nasty alpha strike. But I don't think its crazy or beardy since the contents are still vulnerable after landing. I'll be following your progress with interest!

Alpha strike is horrid but the problem is I am using the best parts of 3 dexs is an unusual way.

As said I would love to fit an assassin but I'm loath to drop my air, once on the ground I can take a hammering but it's 5 pods turn 1, 4 and a flyer turn 2.

The characters should manage to tank most wounds but this is still 5 characters and 45 infantry before counting 9 drop pods and 1 flyer.

Why are you bothering with ASM when Seraphim do it better for cheaper, and you have a spare Sisters FA slot?

 

Because everything in the list is podding in so  the formation allows 7 pods including 5 empties.

The Allies has 2.

At best i could cut the Squad in the Fast attack pods for more sisters which I am considering but these are tough choices.

 

Looking at how I am running it however Its more of a Inquisitor force from the days of Witch Hunters than pure sisters however.

So I have done a little playing around with the list and I feel its much improved in the following format.

Evereyone is better geared, almost as many bodies and stronger choices.

 

I have had to sacrifice 2 pods but I still feel that this works.

So any feedback before i get this plog rolling would be great.

Regarding the Deathwatch, I'm not so sure about the grav gun. Being salvo, it's effectiveness will be much reduced when you arrive and disembark from the drop pod. Grav is much better on relentless stuff too bad inquisitors can't have combi gravs. I think another melta or plasma would give you more bang for what you pay.

 

I guess they are dropping with Karlean and that's why 8-strong? Otherwise it might be worth finding points for 10 with another heavy flamer.

I see what you mean but Wraith Knights are a constant fear of mine with damn wave serpent spam.

Sure its only 2 weapons when squad 10 strong.

 

Just wanted to max size the squad with spare points, not allot of places i could of put it.

Yes I understand your desire for some grav but honestly I don't see a single grav gun (shooting at reduced range and volume of fire no less) is going to do too much. I suppose you could give the Sgt a combi grav for a bit more. Yet weight of fire from all those meltas should surely lay some serious pain.

 

Maybe consider stern guard for your deathwatch so you can bring a lot more grav? You'll need a troop choice so could still have a 5 man tac squad. The points for the stern guard would mean dropping a bit of sororitas though.

I take it these are assault marines by the pistols.

 

Great work so far. Very dynamic poses with turn leaping over/clambering around those rocks. They look very lifelike. Looks like you have a good mix of chapters represented too -- I see a black Templar, I assume the bearded one is a space wolf, raven guard ... It would only be fitting if Blood Angels and their successors (especially flesh tearers) are well represented given the furious charge special rule and the FOC being used!

They are regular Marines in fact, odds are i will use them as Stern Guard or What have you as Demanded but I wanted them to look more individual than anything else to start.

Thats why i have knives drawn, everyone fully armed with extra grenades, multiple pistols etc.

 

I need to get flesh tearers in here, if you look carefully you will notice there is an Astral Claws Loyalist in there too. ;)

 

 

Got a few more i'm working on but a Crimson Fist, Minotaur and Iron Hand should make a good addition once painted.
