The cloaks are from Anvil Industries. They are really good quality, require minimal clean up, and fit brilliantly. Can't recommend them enough. They have a couple of different ranges - check them out:

I thought that might be it. COuld you show a couple of shots from the back ?

 

The reason I ask is that I tend to make my capes in the style of the classic SB models, wrapped over the left shoulder pad (see here an example) so even those would likely require some additional greenstuff work. I'm also concerned that if they are too far "in", the GS would have to wrap around the bad and back and might look a bit silly.

A couple more sternguard thrown together from bits, both armed with combi-meltas. I didn't have any combi-meltas left, so I've made some from normal bolters and inferno pistols. All these sternguard need to have loin cloths added to them, but I haven't got any at the moment (on my Christmas list from Anvil industry). They'll be easy enough to add in later.

I haven't taken photos of the backs of the cloaks I'm afraid (as I was requested). You'd have to do quite a bit of additional sculpting to carry the cloak over the shoulder pad as well -I'm not convinced it would work particularly well.

So I've finished Reclusiarch Stag-Hill as part of the forum's Chaos at the gates challenge. Quite happy with how he's turned out - he certainly looks like he isn't going to put up with anything.

Among the random bits I got from a retiring gamer friend were 2 rhinos, both in reasonably dodgy condition. I decided to transform one into a razorback so that I can field the reclusiam formation when I run my bike mounted command squad and chaplain.

 

The plan was reasonably simple, pop the rhino top hatch doors off, put the razorback top on, construct a turret, and suitably Templar-ify the vehicle. Unfortunately there was glue all over the place and it took quite a lot of effort, stubbornness, and swearing to do what I wanted. Anyway, before getting painting, I thought I'd see what my fellow brethren think.

Recovering "forsaken" vehicles (and other models for that fact) can be a pain in the neck, but from the looks of it, you did quite well. And the las/plas turret is very ingenious, though I'd say it still requires a bit of work, especially the green stuff sloping part. Still, I think I might adopt your idea in the future for my "command razorback", if you're okay with that.

I was thinking of trying to find some hatch bits to add, out something similar. Rivets are a great idea - not sure how to make them though, any suggestions?

Find a small sized plastic rod, cut into tiny portions about the size of bolt heads for the tank and glue them. Easiest method.

 

or

 

Find really small beads, drill holes which are only half-way through or cut the beads in half and glue them on the panel. Medium level skill required as beads can be hard to cut in half or if you're not careful can make the hole too big and beads would just fall through.

 

or

 

Mix some green stuff and make sure there is more blue than yellow, get really tiny portions of the mix and roll them into tiny spheres, press the tiny spheres down onto the location you want your rivets to go. This method is the hardest for me because I could never get the same sizes for the rivets.

Haven't made any more progress with the razorback - can't decide what to do to finish off the slope on the back of the turret. Instead I have finally finished painting my Stormtalon conversion. As soon as I looked at the original model I knew something wasn't right with it. The missile pods are in completely the wrong position - should so be mounted on the engines. And it just looks so much like an Apache helicopter that that's what I had to do. The blades are from a Lego kit which echo the imperial eagle quite nicely. The blades are a bit too high up really, but that was the only place I could get them having played around with the tail as well. It needs a few transfers applied to it, but I'll get round to that at some point.

Devastator Centurions completed for ETL. Rather pleased with how they've turned out - they look like they been trudging round the battlefield for quite a while. I've played with them a few times and they always do well. Two of them took out a bloodthirster in one volley last game.

Next vow will include a squad of sternguard sword brethren (converted models posted earlier), a squad of vendors sword brethren (converted from death company models I got from a friend), a jump pack chaplain (the BaC model), and an aegis defence line (that I didn't realise I could vow for space marines).

I think it should carry some physical detail through the cloak.

2nd ETL vow completed. I do not want to paint another aegis line in a bloody long time - dull and took far longer than I was expecting. It's a little messy in places, but I'd just had enough with it. Really pleased with the jump pack chaplain though.

Sigh, I felt so clever when I saw that Chaplain model and thought "I bet I could fit an orb in there just perfectly!"  Now I'm just plain late to the party.   But I just got mine in the mail a week or two ago, and damnit all I'm still gonna do it!  Where's the fancy doodad on top of his pack from?

 

I dig the basing, and you've got pretty good metallics going on.  But on the Chaplain at least (seeing as he's Da Boss) it may be good to go back and clean up the gray highlights into tighter lines, especially around the groin.  The advantage of a black base is how easily any mistakes or sloppy bits can be tidied up.

 

Models like the Aegis line are indeed very deceptive.  Doesn't look like a lot at first, but 20 hours in you realize what you've gotten yourself into.  Slap enough surface area on something and even a simple paint scheme becomes monotonous *cough* DROP PODS *cough*.  But you got it done, and that's what counts.

The halo is from the champion of the ravenwing command squad - useful source for some fancy bits.

As for the edge highlights, my hand is far too shaky so I've learnt to live with slightly uneven lines.

It's not an official beatification, more just a term of endearment for a beloved comrade entombed in a dreadnought.

The Ecclesiarchy must endorse the title of "Saint" for it to be official, and it is out-of-character for a Templar to accept an honor (and a title) he didn't earn. A possible explanation is Ecclesiarchy officials witnessed Hoades' valor, and nominated the Templar for sainthood (a controversial nomination, as some Ecclesiarchy members- including Sister Miriya, from James Swallow's novels- view Space Marines as "abhumans"), but it will be centuries before the paperwork is processed and the nomination is affirmed or rejected.

As I said, it's a term of endearment, not official sainthood. I just like the idea of there being another level of title to give to dreadnoughts to show the level of respect that they carry. If anyone has any other suggestions, of be glad to consider them.
