Hey, if  you aren't shooting two psychic dice Sevatar's way as soon as the phase starts, you deserve all the wounds a non-precognitive iron halo won't catch :D

 

Seriously, give Sev 2 dice for precognition every phase. The difference between re-rolling everything and not re-rolling everything is... bleak.

Its super easy, basecoat regal blue and then mix it with mordian about 50/50 then wash black (kantor and macragge blue are the new ones). The bronze is warplock then a layers of sycorax, washed brown and then re-layered with sycorax

The funny thing is that the 3+ power armour doesn't really matter, and just means you have to be a bit more careful with placement with whatever unit is escorting him.

The people he wants to be dueling and fighting are almost always going to have an ap2 weapon, so it is in consequencle in terms of his dueling prowess. So it's a nice way to keep him 20-30 points cheaper then if he had a 2+,4++

 

And holy crap I forgot he gets to reroll saves with that power, damn it!?! He's such a beast, it's the best having such a cost efficient beat stick in the army

Yea I agree, the placement is the key for him; usually me and my friends tank with our characters to save the squad so it'll be a bit of a change with that. Still very weird to have a praetor/chapter master equivalent without a 2+, though with his reroll it might average out to the same ; its odd to remember that FW balances their units compared to GWs lack of balance lol

Update time! Finished the 5th Executioner in my Terror Squad.

 

Having reread the fluff in Massacre it says a number of of legionaries in the terror squads are marked with the red hands and I figured it was about time one was included. This legionary in particular I imagined was a late recruit and so was thoroughly steeped in gang culture and would want to aspire to be the toughest and most respected and, having seen Sevetar's red hands, decided to emulate him. Additionally, the irony of his helmet design is not lost on either him or the rest of his brothers as it now looks like he is crying out of shame.

 

I also added a chain motif to his vambrace, despite it being an Alpha Legion design; this legionary is under particularly strict censure

The red hands is traditionally a sign they are marked for death for failing the Legion. However, I like your take on it, especially as the Legion becomes more depraved. Also another cracking model.

That's true, but Sevetar also follows it up with "This is a gang tradition...[t]he hands of traitors and fools were tattooed red". To me he failed the Legion by being such a fool he wished for the red gauntlets, so Legion command granted his wish...

 

To me it's kind of like a kid thinking he's tough and so decides to join a gang, then realizing it's not all that cool while everyone else laughs at him for thinking that way

I'm wondering what are using for the shoulder pads? Did you free hand those? Or were they transfers? I'm thinking to spam but some transfers from ebay since shoulder pads are so damn expensive.

Hey sorry, thought I answered but my phone must have screwed up. I freehand them all that's why it's inconsistent across the models. The technique is easy enough though; just do a circle then a rectangle underneath for the teeth/jaw bit and then the wings start as parentheses that you just expand on . I can do a tutorial if you want when I freehand the next guy?

Time for a mega update! Because of being busy I decided to buckle down and finish the last four legionnaires of my first Terror squad. Sadly there was an issue with my volkites so I'm waiting on more, which is why they're still gunless, but still done other than that and their bases. 

 

The first legionary had a slight miscast at the base of his helmet so I painted it to look like battle damage, as is the bit of trim on his right vambrace that I accidentally broke off. I tried to paint the lightning on his helmet to look like he's crying (similar to how cyrion's is described but not black lightning on a bone helmet).

The second legionary I actually decided to keep his helmet blank; he prefers to leave fear up to his victim's imagination. Other than that there's not much going on with him to be honest.

The third legionary has a black faceplate, it enhances the glow from his lenses when not in complete darkness

The final legionary is probably one of my favorites; instead of any chains or skull baubles he prefers to remember his victims as bloodstains on his armour. Coupled with his skull and fang painted helmet he looks particularly intimidating. However the bad lighting makes it tricky to see the blood

Your blues and lightning strikes are looking amazing as always.

 

The more I see them though, the more I think the helms would look better with a bronze brow ridge. It looks awesome on the shoulder pad rims, and the helm looks like it needs a little break in that field of dark blue.

I actually did try something like that on my first model, I can't remember if it was the more raised bit on the front or the part on the side, but I wasn't big on the result. I'll try it on the plain faced guy though to spice him up a bit

 It's actually all Fortress grey as it looks bright, but can still be highlighted if need be. However I think I've stated that I won't be highlighting the lightning on my power armoured guys as it takes a lot of time and is very easy to screw up

I've been in assembly mode for the last couple of days and have decided to paint up at least one unit of cataphractii before ETL starts, sorry 

 

However I also got a sicaran and have been debating between painting it up either as a Night Lords vehicle to help out as my sole heavy slot in my Terror Assault list; something I need pretty badly for anti tank purposes along with my xiphon, or for my 30/40k raven guard where it would fill a dual roll but would be more beneficial for 30k as well.
