After YEARS of being a poor student, I have finally managed to become a slightly-less-poor student. Enough to actually buy decent miniatures, anyway.

I've decided to do an army of the Vakrah Jal - Because of Argel Tal, the XVIIth have become my second favourite legion. My favourite will always be the IVth, but I know for a fact I will have much more fun making some Word Bears.

The Vakrah Jal would be a great opportunity to make an army which embody Argel Tal's vision and ideals, as well as allowing for modelling and converting creativity.

Of course, there is hardly any information getting around about these guys. So, how would you all go about;

> Modelling them
> Converting them
> Representing them fluff-wise

I am also wondering whether to set them before, or after the events of Betrayer. Without going into Spoilers, anyone who has read it know that will change the Vakrah Jal significantly. And that Erebus is an irredeemable tool.

Same as above.

Argel Tal is easily my favorite Heresy Character outside of the 8th legion, and you have so much inspirational material to pull from.

Totally looking forward to seeing where you go with it.

If you are building the Vakrah Jal then you have to include their Confessor in their midst...

Funny that, I was thinking something similar. Even something similar to an infernal penitent engine with an effigy of her in it. Could be a cool conversion.

Argel Tal is my second favourite behind Garvy, haha. I would have to set the force during the Shadow Crusade just so I can get a chance to model and use him.. And if I want to play after the Shadow Crusade, I can just remove him.

Or, maybe the warp's pulled a tricky one and given him some plot armour. It's not unprecendented. Just look at his best friend in Betrayer.

Oh wrist mounted flamers and other joyous gribbly bits. Following with interest.

*after the events of Betrayer means you erm well Argel...

True.. Do I give every marine a wrist-mounted flamer? Or just high ranking ones? I'm wondering if I could do it rules wise.

Anyway, here's some work I've done on a squad sergeant. I hope to do more when uni winds down a bit.

Looking good, you could always model the wrist flamers onto them in case the rules come out but then not use them if they don't. I think they have flame tanks too but I would have to go back and read the book to check. You could maybe use a melta bomb and some wire or the IG flamer tanks for that?
