Pulling apart super glued miniatures...

So, hopefully a quick and easy question. I've got a bunch of old chaos marines I need to pull the heads off of to replace with some shiny new FW heads. These guys have been sitting for over a year now, and I know I used superglue and not plastic glue to put these suckers together. Probably Krazy glue, knowing my purchasing habits rolleyes.gif I'm just wondering if there are any good ways to pull apart superglued pieces without damaging the models. I've tried just using my fingernails up under the jaw and giving a good yank, but they won't budge. The torsos have come clean off of the legs, though :P I don't want to jam anything under there to pry them off for fear of damaging the chest armor. Any tips?

Cheers!

The freezer treatment works well. Superglue uses water when it bonds. Freezing that causes the water to turn to ice, which expands, weakening the bond. For stubborn pieces I quickly transfer the frozen piece to warm (NOT BOILING) water briefly. I lost a few 40mm bases to warping before I learned this.

Hope this helps.

I usually just use a small screwdriver (the type used on glassess or electronics) as a combination chisel and lever to break the bond. If that doesn't work, use a modelling knife to cut the plastic at the base of the head.

Well as long as you aren't worried about damaging paint, put them into some Super Clean(it's an engine de-greaser). It strips paint and breaks superglue bonds and doesn't damage the mini's at all.

You can find it at any auto parts store, comes in a purple bottle.
