Judex Seeker Squad [FAST ATTACK]:

- A format of Seekers the Ist Legion prototyped before the Great Crusade, not widely adopted by the other Legions - commonly deployed under the Ravenwing Protocol, and utilised to provide more mobile ranged support to other units & eliminate units which threaten to counter the DA advance

* Jump Infantry 5-10

* Combi-weapon, CCW, Plasma Grenades

* 1 in 3 can swap combi-weapon for: Volkite Caliver / Plasma Repeater / Grenade Launcher / Heavy Bolter with Suspensor Web / Missile Launcher with Suspensor Web

* Special Issue Ammunition, Marked for Death, Shadow of the Valley of Death: Shrouded when Deep Strike, Judgement of War: if enemy infantry unit has caused at least 1 wound to a LA: Dark Angels Unit in the same army, shooting attacks can force re-roll cover save,

I think you might have to rework/re-think the ravenwing part - atleast their RoW seems like the Ravenwing protocol was (just) bikes and jetbikes back then. But maybe FW will surprise us next year :)? Maybe Dreadwing could fit better?

Besides that,

Well, I'm off uni for the Easter break, so this'll be another periodical revival of this thread, during which I might actually finish the Legion unit / auxilia series finally

Anyhow, some offerings for that Legion so close to my heart, the Iron Tenth:

gallery_53779_9225_618544.jpg

Golem Heavy Assault Squad:

Anti-tank assault veterans - start of with chainfist, bolt pistol & meltabomb, 1 in 5 can swap pistol for lascutter/ meltagun/ graviton gun (with suspensor web)

gallery_53779_9225_754183.jpg

Vilifier Destroyer Squad:

Destroyer termies - start with irad-cleanser & power weapon, any can take lightning claw, 1 in 5 can swap cleanser for missile launcher with rad-missiles, sergeant can take (rad) grenade harness

Quick update, I'm messing around with different stuff, and I'd always planned on doing decent quality sketches of the Questoris Yeomanry, so I've started off by doing a template of the Armigers' Power Armour - she'll be the basis for a number of further illustrations experimenting with wargear and colour schemes:

Just a note - since uploading this, I've already made an alteration, which was editing the upper armour on the right-hand arm, to bring it to where her arm should actually meet her torso - the original above doesn't really work

isn't a meltabomb kind of redundant when you have a chain fist?

Yeah fair point

Looks great!

...my only stipulation is that the collar is really high (which isn't a huge issue in and in itself) which make her head a forearm's length above her shoulders. Either she has the neck of a giraffe or is like one of the Futurama heads in a jar stuck on a robotic body lol

Yeah that's been corrected in the alteration I mentioned above - the right arm has been raised to match the left, which sorts the issue - I might also lower the head further into the collar, as the position of her eye level doesn't really match the level of the visor recess - either way I'll be uploading a shaded version tomorrow, so you can see the corrections

Remember when I said I wanted forge world models of these? That wasn't a hope. IT WAS A REQUEST.

I really love these, they just scream badass Ihf.

Haha, thanks dude, appreciate it

That'll be my last piece for a couple of months, as I head back to uni for exams, but june / july time I'm planning on doing alterations to represent the 3 'archetypes' (Fading Dynasty / Household Ascendant / Mechanicum Vassals). From those I may well do some colour tests for specific houses, so you might see some Malinax Armigers, or Makabius, or Aerthegn, or Vyronii, ....

Each will of course have appropriate iconography & modifications :biggrin.:

Okay, so I just wanted to do a little update for you ladies & gents.

So one of the most amazing things that's happened over the past couple of years on the forum is people repeatedly asking me why I don't send this stuff in to Games Workshop (a question which to my astonishment was also asked by Laurie Goulding), and saying that I should have a job at Forge World and other incredibly flattering things along those lines. Now those are things I never expected to hear, and they're incredibly kind, and since I got interested in this hobby when I was only just reaching double figures age-wise I can't remember a time that I haven't been coming up with ideas for new units and models across the range of GW games. So I've decided to go for it and apply for a job at Games Workshop - there's not an actual job opening, but they are advertising this http://jobs.games-workshop.com/2016/04/19/citadel-miniatures-conceptualiser-nottingham-uk/ which states they're still on the lookout for concept artists for their model design process.

So next year is the last of my Degree, and the plan is to apply for the job during the first semester of the year - so between September & the new year. That basically means this summer is gonna be dedicated to building up my portfolio of artwork, which will likely reduce the stuff I post here, as I'll need to be covering a broader range including out of universe artwork.

That means I may well not finish the current range of Legion sketches - I'm gonna try and polish off my Vakrah Jal stuff, as that may well be included in my portfolio, but I will still try and stick a few ideas up here as I go.

On that subject, the Red Scorpions' new Culln Leviathan has got me going Dread-crazy again with ideas for unique Dreads, some of whom I'll hopefully be doing illustrations of:

* Iron Warriors Deredeo Character - a Warsmith who built a specialised Deredo in preparation for his eventual demise, instead of the autocannon, it'll have a modified solex-pattern lascannon on each 'arm', and a carapace mounted siege-style mortar, with the heavy bolters swapped out for the new olympian-pattern versions featured on the Iron Circle

* Iron Hands Leviathan Character - how the Ultras, ECs & Sallies have all got dread characters but the Xth Haven't I don't know :P - I'm thinking of having the Ironwrought character from the otherwise cringe-worthy Feat of Iron interred in this one, with the obligatory Grav-Flux-Bombard and a melee graviton weapon on the other arm. Torso guns are gonna be multi-meltas, & the frag grenades will turn into frag-assault launchers.

* Death Guard Destroyer Contemptor - a moritat interred in a Contemptor seems perfect for the DG - one arm gets a Chem-flamestorm cannon, the other a DCCW with a rad-grenade launcher & a carapace mounted phosphex discharger

* World Eater Contemptor-Cortus Dreadnought Sub-type - based of this fella, it'll have 2 modified DCCWs, but without inbuilt ranged weapons, instead it gets a twin-linked special weapon on the carapace and a range of special rules representing the interred Legionary in the grip of the Butchers Nails

So just to conclude, I wanted to say a huge thank-you to all the members of the forum who've encouraged me, given me feedback on my work or just kept the views up - you've all made me realise that being a concept artist is my oldest aspiration and to finally go for it

Y'all are awesome, okay?

ASCEND IHF! ASCEND TO THE HALLOWED HALLS THAT IS FORGEWORLD!

Fly, oh brother! Fly to the realm of the Blanch and the Goodwin!

Haha thanks guys, I'm flattered

ASCEND IHF! ASCEND TO THE HALLOWED HALLS THAT IS FORGEWORLD!

Ah I'll try not to get ahead of myself - the job's for GW, and I'm pretty sure for FW their miniature designers do their own concept art - I have zero sculpting skills, although I am planning on having a look at 3D design software in the future - being able to translate my ideas into 3D would be the ultimate end goal but I'd love to get the job at GW

Best of luck man! You definitely deserve it, your work is stellar.

Thanks dude, means a lot  :biggrin.:

cough *DarkAngelsLeviathanwithVolkiteBeamCannon* cough cough

Dunno dude - Leviathans are Siege Dreads, which I don't really associate that closely with volkite - on the other hand, a contemptor-cortus carrying a veteran of the Rangdan genocides, with an experimental volkite beam weapon on one arm (courtesy of Xana) and a DCCW on the other - maybe with some erratic psychic abilities which were unlocked by the horrific wounds he suffered in the genocides? :cool.:

OH DEAR GOD THE PRESSURE :laugh.: . Just want to clarify that there is no way in hell that I'll ever be as good as them, just to moderate expectations :happy.:

Wow awesome man! Good luck with your application! If you ever end up putting your other artwork up on the Internet, please post a link to it so we may find it and cheer you on!

That may well happen, but it's mainly gonna be development work, so most of it won't be finished - thanks dude

I do it all in the name of the Iron Tenth

*chant*

IHF! IHF! IHF!

*chant*

*swoon* :tongue.:

Go out into the wild blue yonder, young fanatic, and make it happen!

If even a fraction of the quality of your sketches makes it into the HH lines I will probably go ahead and die from the gloriousness!

Thanks man, the idea of getting paid to do this stuff that I absolutely love is amazing
