ETL IV - SECOND WEEKLY UPDATE

http://fortressofunforgiven.homestead.com/ETL_2015_Poster_V1.jpg

The participation is so far breathtaking. We have now 357 participants and we are only halfway through the recruiting period! Surely this is going to be another record year. The ETL is going from strength to strength and the participation numbers is only one metric… Completions, total points pledged, re-vowing rate, all of these points towards this being the best ETL yet!

However the most important metric is not a metric at all! It’s the general enthusiasm of the frater and what has always been the main driving force of the event and it appears it is now exported to other Internet locations too! Yes you’ve read correctly! The HH forum is actively advertising the ETL to other, HH specific sites and forums with some level of success - always respecting the rules of said sites! In order for those new frater to feel welcome and to stand out as the truly rugged and determined individuals they are, a new badge is made, specifically for this purpose:

THE BADGE OF THE FOREIGN LEGION:

gallery_29004_6198_6797.png

This is a badge that can be worn by anyone who joined the B&C to specifically join the ETL. The B&C welcomes the new frater and hope to see them around even after the completion of the event.

On a totally different subject, it appears that the new Imperial Knights Codex just hit the shelves. This is the first time a new Codex appears during the life of the ETL. Thankfully this presents no problem as the existing Knights remain intact – no change in they load-outs or their points costs. So it doesn’t really matter which Codex you use. In this respect the new Codex is "ETL neutral"!

However, today in the revamped Warhammer World opening it is likely to have the first release of HH book V: Tempest. It is also possible to see the Cult Mechanicus (the new AdMech Codex) being released next week and possibly more new Codices will come out further down the road. I just want to remind everybody, that existing vows must be completed at the points that were originally pledged with – even if the new Codex has different “pricing”. New vows pledged after the release of the new Codex must use the new Codex prices.

Now lets see how the ETL IV looks like in the second week:

E TENEBRAE LUX IV – Week 2
FactionParticipantsVows Points pledged Completions RateCodex 57 61 36,450 2,040 5.6% Black Templars 20 23 10,168 685 6.7% Imperial Fists 9 9 6,920 330 4.8% Iron Hands 7 7 3,925 0 0.0% Raven Guard 2 2 760 0 0.0% Salamanders 3 3 2,725 0 0.0% Ultramarines 5 6 2,325 190 8.2% White Scars 1 1 160 0 0.0% Index Astartes 10 10 9,467 835 8.8% Blood Angels 52 54 27,200 2,195 8.1% Dark Angels 38 41 35,649 1,282 3.6% Space Wolves 27 28 28,104 690 2.5% Realm of Chaos 50 52 44,243 3,299 7.5% Imperial Forces 60 66 46,557 2,155 4.6% Astra Militarum 20 24 15,281 825 5.4% Grey Knights 6 6 4,286 0 0.0% Adeptus Mechanicus 27 28 24,416 1,330 5.4% Sisters of Battle 4 4 1,590 0 0.0% Inquisition & Agents 3 4 984 225 22.9% Horus Heresy 73 78 75,325 4,897 6.5% TOTAL 357 380 293,528 16,558 5.6%

So let’s see this one by one:

CODEX
The Codex increased its participants by 19% on the week and on top of that there were ca. 2k pts worth of completions! With a completion rate of 5.6% they are spot-on on the ETL average. Truth is that despite their depleted ranks (compared to last year) the Black Templars still lead the assault with 20 participants while the Index is following with 10. Happily the White Scars now have a participant so all Chapters are now represented in the ETL! So with 57 participants overall, the Codex Faction is definitely in a good shape to challenge the top positions. The only thing that appears to be lagging is the size of the average vow, which is below the ETL average, but we have plenty of time to worry about that. In the mean time, the recruitment period is still on, so the focus should still be getting more people in.

BLOOD ANGELS
Now the party has begun in earnest. The Blood Angels have increased their participation by 30% on the week reaching an unprecedented for Bas level of 52! The momentum and the enthusiasm have returned to the faction and now there is nothing holding them back. The only thing I need to highlight is that although you have a significant amount of participants (which is subject to rise further) the BAs have the lowest average vow in the ETL of just 500pts. That’s like 270pts lower than the ETL average. This is not an immediate concern, but it’s something to keep in mind in your second wave of vows. Right now, with two more weeks to go, you should still be focusing on new recruits. Carry on BAs – you’re doing an excellent job so far.

DARK ANGELS
Alright. Participation has increased by 27% on a weekly basis but we are still the forum with the second lowest participation level. Truth is our average vow is some 100pts above the average of the ETL so this is a positive. But even so we are lagging behind most of our rivals on pledged vows. This in turn means two things: high completion rate is very important and more people should come to our camp! As the doors will close on June 1st, getting new recruits is top priority! Also don’t forget, the SWs are stepping up their effort considerably. We have a Lion and the Wolf event running on the side – we don’t want those parasite-ridden barbarians to challenge us?

SPACE WOLVES
The SWs have kept the momentum, increasing their participation in the second week by 17% but there is still room to grow. On the positive side you have the largest average vow (1,000pts) in the ETL. On the negative you have the lowest participation levels in absolute terms. That means that if this trend is extrapolated the SWs will have to carry a proportionally higher burden than any other Faction, and any losses they may suffer will be very hard to replenish. So getting more participants in, even with fairly small vows, is of paramount importance! Also given the relatively low turnout in the DA camp so far, this may be your chance to win the Lion and the Wolf sub event. But right now even that looks stretched. So can Fenris produce more recruits? Two weeks to go!

REALM OF CHAOS
With 50 participants (+39%) and an average vow well above the ETL average Chaos looks in a good position – but is it? Truth is the weekly increase in participation was the highest among all factions. If they carry on with the same momentum they can certainly afford to see the average vow dropping. So the name of the game is to increase participants because despite the increase, you’re still lower than HH, IFOR, Codex and BAs. The third week is traditionally the slowest on the recruitment front. If you break this trend, you may come on top by June 1st! So good job so far but more needs to be done!

IMPERIAL FORCES
This is the dawning of the age of the Mechanicum! So far it is strong enough to be a faction of their own (calm down – it’s not happening). Now with more great AdMech minis coming our way and a brand new Codex this can only go up! Cant wait to see where will the needle settle in this so loved and so overlooked in the past faction. But it’s not only AdMech! The Guard is also coning in in great numbers and so are the smaller forums of SoBs, GKs and Inquisition. With 60 participants the IFOR faction is the second strongest. However the average vow is on the low side (lower than the ETL average). But this is a consideration for later. Now it’s important to avoid the “third week blues” and carry on with the recruitment process! You are definitely very close to the top to let it slip from your grasp!

HORUS HERESY
What is going on here? You have more than 70 participants already – the highest level of participation by any faction in any ETL so far! Well done – it appears that the Heresy is capturing the imagination of a vast cross-section of the hobby community and this is reflected in this year’s amazing participation levels! So, big participation, the most points pledged, fairly high average vow… What can go wrong? Well, EVERYTHING! The real challenge is to deliver on your vows and with such vast numbers this may become the main challenge. Don’t forget this year the final result will be weighted with the completion

So until next week, keep the new recruits coming!!! biggrin.png

Can Titans be pledged to any faction?

Blood Angels only...

They've could have been forced to join the Mechanicus...

Good! Welcome to the forces of chaos!

Doesn't look like a Chaos apocalyptic missile launcher to me and besides, the best AML is an Imperial red one because we all know it makes the missile hit their target faster...
