Amazing Priest, Luther. His wargear looks well-worn in the best of ways and the contrast of the bold, clean glow on the sword brings it together beautifully. Look forward to seeing the assaults!

VOW COMPLETE!

There be pics below! 647 points for the glory of Cretacia! Forgive my ramblings of added fluff, and subpar pictures, but the vow is complete!

Furioso Dreadnought:

First off, we have a Furioso Dreadnought, Ancient Kranek, former captain of the Flesh Tearers Third Company

Ancient Kranek, the Penitent, Butcher of Gaius Point, Unforgiven

Perhaps the darkest day for the Flesh Tearers in recent history came in the latest war for Armageddon, that thrice damned world for which many had died. At Gaius point, the Orks had attacked en masse, throwing themselves at a trench full of Armageddons militia, supported by a convent of Sisters. Yet before the Orks could breach this line, the Flesh Tearers had deployed behind the Xenos forces, catching them in a brutal vice and crushing the life from their vile bodies. And yet, the bloodshed of Armageddon had taxed the strength of the Space Marines, and their bloodlust knew no bounds. When the last Ork died, squealing at the blade in it's gut, the Flesh Tearers had continued their charge, straight over the trenches and into the mortals that stood there, gaping at the blood soaked warriors charging towards them. Their loyalty was their death, for not a single soldier fired on the Marines that would soon tear them limb from limb.

When the last soldier was slain, the first of the enraged berserkers looked around, and realized what they had done. Almost half of the third company had landed at Gaius point, and to a man they had fallen to the Red thirst, drinking the blood of their fellow humans. Kranek, captain of the third, had led the charge and slew the first guardsman himself. Gabriel Seth, Chapter Master of the Flesh Tearers, owns a rage which knows no limits, and yet his fury reached new heights at the news of the massacre. Kranek offered his life as atonement, and yet the Emperor himself decided his punishment. Kranek fell to the Black Rage at Gaius point, and became the first flesh tearer to overcome it after the massacre. At one moment, Kranek was infuriated by the betrayal of his brother Legionares, but at the next Kranek opened his eyes to see that he himself had betrayed the Imperium by striking down it's servants, and this shock reversed the visions and rage to which all Sons of Sanguinis eventually succumb. Some psychic despair cured captain Kranek, that he could understand his failures. In insanity, Kranek would have forgotten his guilt, and Kranek had to carry his guilt for the rest of life as penance. Many Imperial Commanders asked Seth to take his life, but he instead instated him into the Death Company, not due to the disease, but so that he may only face the most dangerous combat and that he could sooner earn the Emperor's forgiveness in glorious combat. The fact that Kranek had escaped the Black Rage led Seth to spare him, that his mind could be studied, for the Master of the Flesh Tearers is always looking for a cure to the disease that consumes his chapter.

On Armageddon, Kranek led the Death Company, composed of those at Gaius Point, in a raid into the heart of the Xenos horde. Dropped with jump packs from a Thunderhawk, they landed directly in the encampment of an Ork Warboss, one of the Lieutenants of Ghazkul himself. The Warboss was slain, and many of the Death Company also fell in the bloodbath that ensued, yet eventually the Orks broke and fled from the giants that rampaged through the night, setting their tents aflame. When the survivors were recovered, ready to be unleashed again, Kranek lay broken, his body nearly cleaved in half by the Choppa of the Warboss. Seth decreed that Gorn would be saved, and he was placed in a Venerable chassis, becoming a Furioso Dreadnaught. Now, he fights on for the Emperor, seeking absolution, yet his release has not yet been granted. It is whispered that when he sleeps, he sees the massacre at Gaius Point, over and over again, a constant reminder of his failure. Now, Kranek serves with the second company, as the third company was temporarily disbanded until the conclusion of the Armageddon campaign. Although they have been reinstated, Kranek will never again be able to serve in their ranks.

Blood Angels Captain with Jump Pack, Artificier Armor and Valors edge, Sanguinary Priest with Power Axe

Captain Simiel of the Flesh Tearers, Captain of the Second Company, Champion of Cretacia, the Tip of the Spear.

Captain Simiel of the Flesh Tearers leads the second Company, and is widely considered to be the most proficient warrior in the chapter. Indeed, his deeds are the fabric of legend, and his gruesome tally of slain foes is long indeed. Szylek the forsworn, Bludgard da Terribul, Ixar of the Word, and countless other champions of inhumanity have fallen to Simiel's ancient blade, the Last Goodbye. Forged by Sanguinis after hearing of Horus' betrayal, it is the embodiment of his sorrow and desire for vengeance.

Simiel's position is a unique one, because the First Company of the Flesh Tearers is distributed amongst the other Battle Companies. This makes the Second the prominent fighting force of the chapter, and so it is Simiel who is the first dispatched to wage war for humanity. Simiel, like his Chapter Master, is known for his vicious and opportunistic fighting style. He often wears a jump pack to allow him to close with the foe swifter, and is known to use his jump pack as a weapon, both to speed his charge into to foe and to throw them from their feet.

Simiel now fights with the entirety of his Chapter in the Cryptus system, helping the Blood Angels as they attempt to destroy the Tyranid menace. As the conflict draws to a close, the Flesh Tearers have pledged to defend Baal itself from the roving Xenos swarms, in what promises to be one of the most brutal campaigns in the blood splattered history of the Flesh Tearers.

The Sanguinary Priest is, currently, unnamed and lacking background.

9 man Death Company Squad with two Power swords, Power Fist and Thunder Hammer:

(note that there are 10 models, one of them was already painted too much to vow, but I finished him up with the rest)

Squad Aguilar:

blogger-image-1436108747.jpg

Brother Aguilar stood at the lip of a crater, surveyed the battle scene and saw that the day had been won at great cost. Rage filled his eyes as he saw that over a score of red armored bodies lay amongst the countless Tyranid dead. As he stood in remembrance, a second wave of the infernal Xenos broke over a hill crest, scuttling down at the Imperial defenses below. Aguilar's eyes began to cloud, as he sensed the all familiar shadow of rage, hatred, and bloodlust that lurked behind every son of the Blood Angels. Behind the Flesh Tearers meager defense lines, the Planetary Defense Forces scrambled to reload and target the incoming horde. Aguilar raised his battered chainsword and roared to the sky, before charging forwards to battle. As Aguilar fought, darkness clouded his eyes, and though he fought as savagely as before, he noticed that his eyes were losing focus then snapping back. He swore as a scything talons rattled off his thigh and he swept his chainsword back, severing the limb and head of the offending beast. Aguilar let out a blood-curdling scream as he tore through another half-dozen Hormagaunts, discarding his pistol and lashing out wit his fist. His mind rebelled as he lost control of his actions, fighting back as the Daemons surrounded him with their glowing eyes. He seized control again, raking his chainsword in a circle around him to buy a second of space as he culled the Termagants that surrounded him. The swarm pressed in again, and the cultists beat at his armor with their fists and crude blades while he massacred them. No. Not cultists, Xenos. Aguilar recoiled a what was happening, the inevitable loss of sanity that afflicted the Flesh Tearers more than any other chapter. But he couldn't stop killing, not when the Xenos pressed in. He couldn't withdraw, not when his chapter's loyalty to it's allies was already under scrutiny. No, only the fall awaited him, and he couldn't escape it's maddening clutches.

A Tyranid warrior stood in front of Aguilar, hissing as it raised it's talons and swiped down at him. Heparried, thenswungbackandichorpouredfromitsruinedthroatasheswungarroundtoconfrontthenectxenosinfrontofhimandthrusthisswordthroughitsswolencraniumashescreamedoutabattlecalltohisbrothers

"For the Emperor!"

Amit strode through the press of cultists, lashing out with both of his fists and laying ruin to their pathetic mortal forms. Finally, they broke free from the the slaughter and into sudden silence. Amit looked back, only 42 of his Terminators now survived. After the teleporters had failed and his forces had been scattered aboard this infernal warship, Amit had slowly rallied all of his scattered brothers, and now the survivors stood united. Only one question remained:

"Where is our sire?"

Amit looked around, and seized a heretic from the ground that was still twitching with life. He held him above the deck by the throat, and pulled him close to his blood stained helmet.

"Where is the Primarch Sanguinis?"

The wretch squirmed in terror, choking out his desperate plea:

"Please... I serve the... Imperium"

Amit scoffed and squeezed, crunching through the traitors throat.

"I will not humor such blasphemy. Brothers! Our Sire awaits, and we shall find him and bring death upon those who would betray Mankind! Death to Horus and his sons! Forwards, for Sanguinis!"

Hope you guys enjoy! I have plenty more models to vow, I'll total up some points and add a new vow tomorrow! For Cretacia and Baal!

ETL IV - SIXTH WEEKLY UPDATE

Time until the ETL IV ends:

http://gifcountdown.com/atlantic-reykjavik/1438441200/ff0000/0f0f0f/aaaaaa/fdfdfd/faedad/true/europe-stockholm/counter.gif

Current breakdown of vows

By the time the most recent update was added, we were in a fight with the Codex and Chaos Factions. The fact that we are trading blows with these so-called super-powers is fantastic and shows what an amazing effort we are putting in this year. However, we can't let any complacency creep into our game. This year, Chaos may be appearing sluggish but they are by no means defeated. Codex have just received a huge buff and they will have the wind in their sails. However, they are not the sons and daughters of Sanguinius!

If we can improve our turnover rate, we can surpass these and catch the Imperial Force who despite their haul of Super-heavies, really aren't that far ahead at all. Do not be phased by the task at hand; where possible pump out those vows and we shall reel them in. After that, who knows? :)

Keep up the pressure folks!

Second vow : finished. biggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.png

@Callousness : what's your technique for the dirt on the side? Stippling a dark grey?

My technique for stippling on the side, is simple : buffering with foam blister. I use two phases, the first with gray (charadon granit), the second with black (abaddon black).

Great work from everyone :)

Wow so many completions :)

I'm going to have to call my vow done guys. I was hoping to paint up the power weapons tonight but as it turns out I have no white paint. :(

I've already completed the bikes above and beyond what I had anticipated I would, and I'm really chuffed with them thanks to the ETL.

I've had them like this for a week now and I won't be able to paint this weekend so I had better turn them in now and stop lagging on our completion rate. Once I get a few things organised I am hoping to make a few more vows yet.

And so without further ado my completed ETL vow. One death company squad and one squad of grav bikers with sang priest on bike.

Finally managed to get some painting down. Got the first few base colours on my scouts. Tomorrow, unfortunately, I need to clean the house dry.png so no painting then. Next week is free, though! Hopefully I'll be able to grind through and get 'er done!
