Those count as Oblits are more the size of Helbrutes/Dreads!?! They look COOL! And that Beholder looks awesome and makes sense as a Daemon Prince.

And the Chaos Spawn. It's a spawn I have had lying around since I dabbled in 40k in my youth. The paintjob didn't stand up to my current standards however, so while waiting for the rest of the models to arrive I primed it up for a re-paint.

I think you forgot to include the Murder Sword (35pts) and the (built-in) Burning brand of Skalathrax (35pts) that this daemon prince is obviously wielding! They're in the Chaos Codex, but hey, no-one is stopping you from vowing units from different Chaos Codices. :tu:

I am forever forgetting to add certain amounts of wargear when I vow things. A weapon here, plasma pistol there. Doesn't make a huge difference in the scheme of things, but should get the greatest value and worth!

I am forever forgetting to add certain amounts of wargear when I vow things. A weapon here, plasma pistol there. Doesn't make a huge difference in the scheme of things, but should get the greatest value and worth!

It does make a difference in the grand scheme of things, Chaeron. And I think we're all less focused on points and winning this ETL this year. There have been several vows that could have yielded dozens, perhaps hundreds of points more for no extra painting effort. Mine included.

I will therefore herewith take on the role of this Strategium's whip and say the following:

In the ETL, every single point in your vow counts.

I distinctly remember Semper saying the same thing on multiple occasions, this year and last.

But every point counts is especially true now that we have a 3000 points cap AND the completion rate thing.

Remember last year? Without the 3000+ super mega vows, we would have lost by a margin of 307 points to the Dark Angels. Despite the fact that we had the highest completion rate.

That would have been a loss by around a 0.4% margin.

Let's try to get the absolute maximum points out of our models.

Equip them with the highest points cost wargear that is possibly represented on the model:

You're painting the standard resin DP? Give him a Murder Sword (35 pts) and a Burning Brand (35 pts). Your character is wearing a necklace with a mark, has a back pack with that semi circle chaos star, or has a prominent chaos star or marking somewhere? Sigil of Corruption (25 pts), right there. You're using a weird head or a possessed arm or something similar? Gift of Mutation (10 pts). Your sorcerer is converted from a Loyalist Librarian with a key chain on his waist? Dimensional Keys (25 pts). Your Khorne Lord has a non-standard/cool axe? Axe of Blind Fury (35 pts). Are you magnetizing weapon options on vehicles? Take the most expensive variant. So Khorne Lord of Skulls? Vow him with a Daemongore Cannon (65pts) and a Skullhurler (60 pts). These even click-fit in and those two extra gun muzzles are practically no extra effort to paint along with the others. Predator or rhino with those standard chaos spikes on the front? Destroyer blades (15pts). Plus all those standard Chaos Vindicator models need the extra points for extra armour and a siege shield. (No, chaos vindicators as a codex unit don't come standard with extra armour included in the points cost, while you can't even build the model without it. Why skimp on the 10 points?).

Painting the Dark vengeance Chaos Characters? Those aren't bare bones aspiring champions. Those are a Dark Apostle with Gift of Mutation (his eye) and the Black Mace (160 pts), a Chaos Lord with a combimelta, Gift of Mutation (shoulder pad) Veterans of the Long War, Mark of Khorne, and Axe of Blind Fury (135 pts), and a Chaos Lord with Sigil of Corruption (chaos star dangling on his loin cloth), Veterans of the Long War, the Murder Sword and a plasma pistol (140 pts).

Scour your codex and get the most out of your models.

It's very little extra effort for relatively a lot of extra points.

All these extra's might still give us a chance to WIN!!
