Wow, this small vow of mine took much MUCH longer than I anticipated.... Completion has come none the less, and I'm personally very happy with how these turned out. The Gal Vorbak are beautiful models, but a pain in the you-know-what when it comes to details. Unfortunately I will not be re-vowing because I do not want to lose the points and completion for this vow, but doing these guys has motivated me to pony-up and get other models painted.

So without further adu- Vow #1 complete!

I still function!

5 Flesh Hounds, primed today.

9 Bikers, primed today (god I dont even want to do these guys, they are just a wreck...)

1 Juggerlord, primed today.

8 CSM (above!) done.

7 CSM still working on.

5 Possessed, in the background.

I think the possessed I can wrap tonight, maybe the 7 CSM as well, with the Juggerlord and Hounds tomorrow, and the bikers...before the first. :/

Vow 3:

I, Chaeron, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete the following, drawn from Codex Chaos Space Marines:

A Daemon Prince, bursting from his Power Armour, with a Mark of Nurgle, and a Murder Sword

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c254/TheNewAgeOutlaw/GW/PreDaemonPrince_zpsgs8su2xt.jpg

...of total value 215pts on or before August 1st, 2015. Success will bring eternal glory to Nurgle and the Chaos forum: failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

(Regrettably, he has a giant mouldline down his side, hence the liquid GS attempting to cover this... I typically only noticed once I'd sprayed him. He'll look lovely soon. I'm looking forward to painting the armour, and on the base? That'll be the armour he's burst out of!)

I Teetengee rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete a Bloodthirster with Blade of Blood(represented by a tail as the lash and a sword as the blade of blood) and riftwalker (represented by the bloodletters crawling out of portals in the bloodthirster’s base) from Codex Chaos Chaos Daemons and a Khornate Chaos Spawn from Codex Chaos Space Marines with a total value of 332 points on or before August 1st, 2015. Success will bring eternal glory to KHORNE and the Chaos forum and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

W.I.P.

So, my final vow consisted of a Helbrut and a Nurgle Obliterator, I originally intended to do them together, only once I got started with them, I rapidly focused on the obliterator. I completed the oblit, and was happy with the result. I then started in on the Helbrut. Now I know I'm a novice painter, but this model has not been kind to my brush skills in the least. I'm constantly finding mistakes that I didn't even realized I made when I first painted them. Even the parts that I painted, for my ability, well, I am not pleased with. Particularly some of the parts that I painted as daemon flesh, in hindsight, I should have painted as armor. Anyway, here is where it stands now with only a few days left. I still have to go back with black and correct all of the trim mistakes and do the same with leadbelcher and brass, and do something with the eyes, and finish the base. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Dream....

I sit at my beautifully lacquered hardwood hobby desk wearing a shirt smelling faintly of the perfume of some half forgotten beauty. I laugh heartily as a drop of wash drips from my brush onto my albino snakeskin boots. I put the brush down and behold a Chaos Helbrute so breathtaking it is sure to win me not just admiration, but cash money prizes. I take a sip of V.S.O.P from a glass tumbler and declare the model finished...

The Reality...

I stand at my kitchen counter wearing an old t-shirt stained with this morning's breakfast and at least three layers of spit up baby formula. I curse like a sailor as a drop of wash drips off my brush and somehow avoids my middle-aged gut to spatter my flip flops. Disgusted, I put the brush down and look at a Chaos Helbrut that is most likely destined for a simple green bathtub before it sees a tabletop. I take a swig of Malox straight from the bottle and say I can't take any more of this model and must move on to a new one.

.

Out of likes already this morning so you'll have to make do with a written one Carrick. Like.

I got in a similar place with the bloodthirster. End up going back over again and again. In the end I basically gave up with the black horns and just left it as it was. I can always go back later if I figure it out. Are the horn things bone? I always struggled with that with my Beastmen. I preferred the ones with ridges as you could just lightly over brush with a lighter colour and it was pretty much sorted. With the smooth ones I could never get happy (dream goal are the lovely perfect stripes/triangle things). I ended up just drybrushing the horn tips with a lighter colour.

Anyway, even at this point just try and enjoy it. I may be going against team chaos with this but make sure you get something you're happy with.

Edit: I plan on doing a daily photo update every evening. Started Khorne redding the bloodletters and painting the Maulerfiend base before work.

Yay, done with my second vow, my Warpsmith!

Colours are a bit messed up, I think my camera is on its last breath now (it gave me some error messages and stuff like that, had to restart it a few times!)

The red is like the red on the models above, but today I don't have any sunlight, and light bulbs give super-yellow colours, so I had to try and photoshop them a bit, but oh well, I'm done at least!

Bah, enough painting, now I'm gonna play some BFG instead! Hopefully my brave Word Bearer fleet can stave of the horrible Nids! :)

@FenrisSUFLUR: Congrats on an awesome finish. mate. I hear ya when it comes to the detail on the Gal Vorbak, but you did an amazing and characterful job on them Kudo's!

@Scribe: hang in there buddy! You'll get it done. :tu:

@Chaeron: ANOTHER Daemon of Nurgle???? Again. you're insane. In a good way. ;)

@Kilofix: NICE WORK!

@Teetengee: Nice finish on the fourth vow, and DUUUDE a revow. Nice! I like the idea of bloodletters on the 'Thirster's base. I'll copy that for sure.

@Uveron: nice update. Massive kudo's for sticking in there.

@Carrack: I think he looks good as-is, certainly ETL worthy, but it's your call!

@Carrack and Andra'Melek: the vague skin-to-horn transitions just beg for an airbrush! ;)

@Forté: Wow, NICE! Congrats on the finish. Hopefully this'll raise some good cash for Poppy's cause. :)

@Totgeboren: Congrats 2u2 on the finish. Nice Warpsmith conversion. :)

I really like the way you placed the hazard stripes on the fiend - definitely going to take some inspiration from that :)

Thanks Auggie, but for the record, that is only my 4th vow now. 5th Vow will come later this week. Potentially Necrosius Terminus as a Nurgle Daemon Prince, since he is a little small to count as the Nurgle counts as Bloodthirster I was originally planning him as.

EDIT: Wrong Name. Terminus, not Necrosius.....
