Here's my progress on the Sentinels, Paint is finished, they just need basing. I've superglued the large rocks down to the base, but the grit needs to be applied. I have to wait for the wash to dry before doing that or I'll end up with grit in places I don't want it.

Enjoy. I should have vowed the entire army seeing as in the past three days I have painted all but 2 squads of vets, a command squad, a commissar, a Valkyrie, a Vendetta and a Knight. 

 

Minus the Knight, I'm down to the last 600-700 points of my 2000 point army. And it really won't take much time at all for me to power through the rest of the infantry, which I will make sure to Vow. 

 

The knight takes my points up to about 2500. I'm saving the knight for my last Vow, in case I don't get to it.

My based sentinels are on the right in front of the taurox primes which are currently equipped with gatling cannons. 

 

 

That's all the infantry I painted over the past couple of days that I should have vowed. Alas the Infantry are not yet complete, I have a couple of greatcoats to paint that I have no Idea what color to make them. 

 

Still, My vehicles are coming along nicely, And tomorrow afternoon I should have the basing on the Sentinels done, and then that vow will be done.

@ Ulrik: welcome to the ETL - you're doing an excellent job so far! Just a clarification: It is not clear to me if you declared completion for your 3rd vow. Also keep in mind that you can only make up to 5 vows it total in the ETL. You have already made 3. That means you only have 2 more to go - just keep that in mind. ;)

Progress Report

 

I've hit what running enthusiasts call "the wall". There he was, a joy to paint. Now, not so much. I can only dedicate so many hours a day to painting due to health and I won't waste them doing something that isn't appreciating its paint job.

 

The answer I've come to is to concentrate on building some troops. Maybe I'll snip, cut, and shape myself back into painting mode. If I do a second vow, the guys are already set for a photo and then priming, so no worries there.

The way I get past that is to just do a little bit every day. Even if it's some tiny detail, like a gem or a bionic eye or something. After a while I find that I get back into the swing and get my enthusiasm back.

 

I find that if I go away and do other hobby stuff for too long I get enthused about something different and then going back to paint the original project seems more like a chore, at least until I've got another chunk of it done and it's close to completion.

 

Don't push yourself, but just try to keep doing small parts, even if it's just 10-15 mins work on the model a day.

As punishment I sentence you to 5 ETL vows! I expect them completed and on my desk before August. Hop to it soldier!

Great to see some vows coming in especially from new recruits, you'll earn your place in the vaunted Veteran Company - never a finer body of men to lead to glory! Coffee that tank is stellar, I think you've outdone yourself on this one such fine work! Also fantastic to see Ulrik firing models out like heavy bolter shells, I wish I could paint that well so quick

Toxic has wise words though, this is very much a marathon so pace yourself and your vows. Our foes know well that the Guard is unbeatable in a war of attrition so let's make sure we remember it too

Hey guys, 

 

Quick update for my 1st vow, so far I've built the lascannon teams, and built, sprayed and a quick dry brush of the bastion. Tomorrow I'll be looking at getting some colour down on the bastion and starting the conversion for the hell hound. Hopefully get that to a basecoated level. 

 

Already planning my next vow! Glad we get to make 5.

Throne damn it, the curse of the ETL strikes once more and I'm out of likes! It seems the software can't keep up with how much awesome I'm seeing! :lol: I know you won't let me down baz, Regimental Command expects great things from you this ETL :P

So to keep that going, I present you with my latest, They're complete, though I do need to wipe off the dust around the base, they are complete, the 2SSF's Armored Sentinel Squadron Vow 3 officially submitted for completion.

I decided not to paint the basing, since the natural rock looks pretty good when paired with the paint job on the model. I'm going to keep my momentum going, and put up my next vow.

I Ulrik Ironfist, rise to the challenge of E Tenebrae Lux IV, do vow my Combat Aviation Brigade, The sum total of 2 Aircraft, a Valkyrie and it's Vendetta Escort, to the cause. May they rain fire and death upon the enemies of Man, or as we call it, "Rain Heavy". They Come from the Elysian army list, and the Valkyrie weighs in at 140 points, with Multiple Rocket Pods and Heavy Bolter Sponsons, While the Vendetta Weighs in at 140 with Heavy Bolter Sponsons.

If there's one thing I know how to paint, it's aircraft. Though the washes on the panel lines came out a bit heavy, so I had to go back over them, with a drybrush, for the valkyrie I'll use a smaller brush for the wash.

Speaking of which, Vow 4 is complete!

 

 

Just as an aside, I have never been more enthusiastic about painting an army than I was with this one. It's actually been a joy, since the models don't have individual paint schemes, and tons of detail (DAMN YOU SPACE WOLVES!!!!!). 

 

Now for the main event, my final Vow for ETL IV, I expect this one to take more time, since I have some infantry still to knock out, and I need to put some thought into how I'm going to paint it.

I Ulrik Ironfist, rise to the challenge of E Tenebrae Lux IV, do vow my Freeblade Knight, The sum total of 1 super heavy walker, to the cause. May he belch flame and thunderous death upon the enemies of Man, or as we call it, "Laying the Hate". He is a Paladin, from the "Old Codex", weighing in at 375 points.  He has proven to be a tremendous asset on the battlefield, and has scored numerous kills.
