Thousand Eyes models: 1K Sons, Knights and Iron Warriors

Recommended Posts

Here are the WIP pictures of my own attempts at a Thousand Sons force(and other projects). While awaiting parts for the actual troopers I started work on the other bits I had to hand, most of which were donated by folks. Not many pictures here but I do have a few more in my blog, but I couldn't ignore invaluable advice of the B&C army.

I'll admit it I love Hellbrutes, mainly because they are basically Dreadnoughts and I always used those as well.

The blue is an old Ultramarines Blue from GW, pretty sure they don't make anything like it anymore. Really hope it lasts me another little while so.

I had to improvise for the bone colour here by painting it white and using a brown wash over it, I actually quite like the effect.

My first bits of skin on the demon prince, didn't go as well as planned but frankly it is hard to tell from these awful picture. I need a lamp to bring some colour to the darkness, also I need to learn how to high light things.

I think you can all see I have more keen for the project than skill, but time will tell.

Reinforcements have arrived! This will be my first time working with finecast and all. I still remember when 'white meta' was new.

Sneaking back into to show my progress with First Squad.

Had to be nine of them as that is the sacred number of their patron god. I spent a lot of time trying to make sure they all looked different from each other to be honest. Not the easiest thing to do as some of the stuff I am working with are vanilla Black Reach marines.

Haha, a good use of Macragge marines!

Like the shade of blue you have going, although I think it could do with a wash added to the recesses where it meets the banding, to add some depth.

Keep it up!

Thanks for the encouragement, means a lot :smile.: None of the models have had any real shading work done on them yet. My current goal (which changes a regular basis) is to get all the models tabletop ready and then start to pluck up my courage to do more advanced (for me) painting.

For example this little guy will be hopefully getting a glowing sword when that happens.

My sorceror lord on his disc of Tzeentch:

And him with a bith of paint of him:

Just a touch more for last night, but still so much to go:

That sorcerer is very nice but IMO its better to shave off the Imperialis on the chest, at least replace the skull with something else (the Imperialis is the symbol of the loyalist forces during the Horus Heresy and the Scouring...)

I might come back to that at some stage and give it a go. Attempting to sculpt a tiny scarab might make m cry :(

Now to figure out should I make my second Thousand Sons squad or paint up the first one.

Another couple of marines up and running. Ok not running but advancing with purpose at least.

As you can see I am having some trouble getting them to look less static with bolters just helf across the chest. Rather jealous of the Khorne armies that get to display a lot of movement right now. Any thoughts?

If you have some GS you can reposition those legs to get it less static.

Here's what I did for some of my Alphas: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img28/8034/abrm.jpg

That blue is gorgeous.

Also, will you be joining the crusade in the ETL IV?

The blue is an old one, back when it was called Ultramarines Blue. I tend to highlight it with another old blue called Enchanted Blue. What I will do when those pots run out I don't know.

Honestly I am not sure what I will get finished at any time, so don't know if I should enter the Crusade or even what it is really about.

It is mainly about crushing the imperial dogs a friendly event designed to help people finish up unpainted or merely primed plastic and metal that they have laying around. There is lots of encouragement and banter to go around. Also dancing.

@Teetengee: I wll have a look into it whenI have the two squads painted and see what I can push towards the totals :)

Meanwhile more Rubric marines, now with added movement, just not not much movement as they are Thousand Sons after all.

Nice little group shot of the boys in progress so far :)

This includes the two squads I put in for the ETL pledge.
